Yiannais flew towards her, intending to catch her by surprise but he screamed as she lowered her head. "Look out."
"How dare you look at me when you're just a weak hybrid? What would that lukewarm fire do?" She asked, raising her head and her fists went up in blue flames as she curled her fist.
"It should at least be this hot."
Merely looking at it, Vael knew Yiannais was doomed for the night, if he didn't have a trick tucked up his sleeve.
"This is the power of a real pureblood. Are you ready to lose? It'll be quite hot from now on."
"The police are going to be stationed around the building. You can't drag this for much longer, Riña. You and Vael should evacuate the building now." She heard Kaiwan say through her earpiece but she was not listening. She had not even started.
"Riña...Can you hear me? Riña, you're not responding."
"You are not wearing a crown of thorns today. The reason you have been holding onto it is to calm you down. Are you sure you will not be needing it tonight?" Yiannais scoffed.
Did he have a death sentence? She wondered.
"Is that important right now?"
"Of course. I wanted to see it again." He scowled, running a tongue over his fangs.
"What?"
"I like it, Zuriña...when you get excited."
His eyes at that moment were different from the other times.
Different from the time they had met back then at Clifford town.
Different from the time he had rescued her at the station.
Different from the time he had gotten injured at the bridge.
Now, he only had the look of a crazy psycho.
He had completely lost it.
"It's rather unfortunate that you will die before seeing it, don't you think?"
A wicked smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "Really? In that case, I just want you to get more excited."
He zoomed to destroy the wall behind her, causing a lot of smoke which sent Vael choking but she did not raise her arms to obstruct her face. Was that his plan? Distract her before attacking her? Did he think that would work on her?
Her eyes bulged wide on realization of Yiannais' plan when the smoke started to die down and she started to see through. His purpose for destroying the wall was to expose them to the police, who were just arriving. He had set a dangerous trap.
"Freeze or we will shoot." One of the police said through the PA (public address system) and she looked at the arms they had. They were not ordinary guns but acidic ones.
"This situation is enough to excite you, right, Zuriña?...Then I will look forward to it." He said and disappeared into the darkness.
She made to go after him but hesitated. If she let him escape now, it would be even harder to track him down later. But what about this concert hall? If she followed Yiannais, it would be dangerous for Vael and the detective.
"What are you doing Zuriña Anderson?"
Her head wound round to see Vael, behind her. "Get out of here. I will take care of this place. What is important now is Yiannais." He yelled and turned to the detective. "You too lobster. Leave now."
The detective raked his hands through his hair. "There is no way I would leave you here."
"I will leave this to you, then." Zuriña said and zoomed out of the building.
The full moon was set in the sky as she zoomed past the bushes and trees, following Yiannais' trail. She could feel the smell of blood and pressure around her fading which meant she was losing him and she sped up.
There was no way she could let him escape.
Yiannais was standing at the end of a cliff when she caught up with him and she hid behind one of the trees. He looked completely oblivious of her presence and a wicked smile crossed her lips, knowing the best way to announce her presence.
She zoomed to strike the side of Yiannais' neck with all her fingers held straight and tightly together, using the heel of her palm to strike up under Yiannais' nose and as he spun to her, she hit his face causing him to drop down and cry out in pain as his nasal bones.
"Caught you, Yiannais Peterson."
He looked like he had expected her to follow him. "You sure are fast... Zuriña."
"I thought you would at least have a little guilt at the end of the day, but no, maybe you just liked it. Do you know how much you meant to me and how much I believed in you?" She asked with a scoff.
"So?" He asked.
That was it. So?
A bastard was forever a bastard.
A thief was forever a thief.
So what had she expected from a murderer? Her parents' murderer for that matter.
"So I wanted my faith in you not to be in vain. But now, I know for sure. You hold no guilt, you're just insane. You told me you wanted to go back to that day, even if you said it sincerely, you don't deserve to say that with your dirty mouth."
He clicked his tongue as he rose. "You are still as innocent as when you were a kid. I thought growing up with humans would make you as dirty as they were. Alright...let's do this, instead of having mixed feelings, just hate me." He said, falling back into the cliff's waveform platform.
"Yiannais Peterson." She yelled as she made to catch him.
"See you later." He winked.
"Hands up." The cops yelled and Vael curled his fist, wondering what to do.There was no way he could hide for long, he'd be found out and exposed as a vampire.
The cops were more alerted when he walked out slowly with his hands raised.
"I think there has been a misunderstanding. I was filming a show inside, then vampires came in. I don't know the whole situation."
"Then for now, follow us to the station." One of the officers said.
There was no way he was going anywhere with those cops.
He'd rather just disappear and go on with his life quietly. Screw being a magician.
"I said, hands up."
What was he going to do? He was fucking screwed. He didn't have a single card in his pocket.
"No matter what you say it's suspicious." One of the police said.
"Yeah. It is really strange that you survived being inside that near building collapse. You're sure you aren't a vampire?"
"Did you become a vampire when you went missing?"
This was a serious problem.
How was he going to get out of this? There was no single card on him so he couldn't disappear. He couldn't just run away because Daniel was still unconscious in the concert hall.
The entire place shook like something was walking out of the hall and an officer's eye bulged out on seeing what it was.
"What is that?" The officer asked and he turned to see Daniel behind him. He was awake, but what he doing there?
"Don't come out and just go back in." He told him, through his mind.
"What's that lion?"
"Why is it so big?"
One of them screamed, on seeing his blue eyes."Look at the eyes, it's a vampire."
He spun to them. "No."
"If it attacks, shoot."
Rivulets of sweat ran down his face as he swallowed. "Daniel, listen to me and sit. These people won't harm you, I promise...Daniel you..." Daniel dropped his favorite doll before him and his eyes widened in shock,on the realization of what Daniel was trying to say.
"No...don't be like that, okay?" He asked and Daniel turned to give him a cute look before turning to the officers who aimed at him.
"Daniel, stop...I told you to stop." He said inwardly, fighting the tears that tried to well up in his eyes. He couldn't afford to lose Daniel.
"Do you think I will be happy if you did that?" He asked, trying to provoke Daniel who roared, sending shivers to the officers, who were beginning to step back.
This situation was dangerous for him. He had to turn the tables around.
"Prepare to fire." The superior in charge ordered.
"No...Daniel no...don't shoot." He screamed as he ran over.
