Chapter 70

"Project 0101." Yiannais had began.

"On October 1st, Yiannais will convert everyone into a vampire."

"You're talking about the drug that will turn people into vampires, right? Will it not be over even if we destroyed the factory?" She had asked.

"It's over, but not also over"

"What are you talking about?"

"They can make more of the drugs in Amelia island. Even if you can stop the drug, it'll be in vain because the both the media and government are being controlled.

Sooner or later, the people will end up taking the pills and on November 1st, everyone will become a vampire."

"Then all we need to do is go to Amelia island." Kaiwan had said.

"However, there is a problem. All of the ship routes to Amelia island has been blocked.

That bastard is the one in control of everything."

"That bastard?" Zuriña had asked.

"Yiannais' right hand man,the last angel of death Joel. He's different compared to the other angels of death. When he was human he was called The Cannibal.

He's a nationally known gangster. He's the villainous type of guy who chews up people alive."

"And he makes a lot of detectives shudder."

there are thousands of men in this country, but now they will all become vampires.

After becoming a vampire, he acts as Yiannais' right hand man and expands his forces. He's also the best fighter in the country. However, if you get through him and his men, there'll be an opportunity."

"An opportunity?"

"You said there's one boat we can take to get to Amelia island." Zuriña had asked.

"So all you need to do is get on that boat, but he'll blow up the ship once he sees you.

So get on quickly. You absolutely must not get caught."

It was around nine, that night when Zuriña and Kaiwan sneaked into the dock.

He peeked out from behind the shipping containers to peep at the guards. They weren't a lot of them keeping watch.

"Detective..." She called and he went into hiding as one of the guards turned abruptly.

"Did you hear something?" He heard one of the guards ask the other.

"No, I didn't."

That was close. He thought to himself.

"I'm sure I heard something."

"Look, In an emergency, you need to stay calm." The other man said. and he waited for a while before peeking out again.

It was more organized then he had expected.

"Detec..."

Kaiwan clasped a hand around her mouth before he peeked out to check if someone had heard her.

When he confirmed no one had, he turned back to her.

"You wanted to say something?" He whispered.

She raised her hand to his mouth and he understood. "Oh, sorry."

"It's fine."

"How's it?" She asked.

"I think now all we need to do is cross this area but the problem is we cannot get caught." He turned back to her. "Vael said there's only one boat we can ride on, right? That means we have to get in as carefully as possible."

"Or if we get caught in that moment, the boat will explode right away...But can we get out of this?" She asked, referring to how pressed they were against the close shipping containers.

"I don't think it'll be too hard right now. Let's wait for those guys to pass first...It's a bit narrow and uncomfortable, right?" He asked

"You're right. It's a bit tight and uncomfortable." She replied, since that was how he felt. A change of subject would probably be used there and then.

"But Detective, you're really good at your job. Is it from experience?"

A smile crossed his lips. "To be honest, I don't really have a lot of experience. It's only on some few occasions."

"Like dating stuffs?"

"Dating?"

"Didn't you have a girlfriend before?"

Embarrassment zoomed into his cheeks and he looked away with a smile. "Oh, that. I didn't want to seem inexperienced in front of you. It's not like I've dated so many girls."

So that was how it was,she smiled inwardly although she had more questions. Since she was already questions, she might as well as him one more.

"Then detective, do you have..." she swallowed as she raised her head to look at him. "...someone you like?

"Someone I like..."His voice trailed off as he slowly lowered his head to close in on her, sending her heart on a trip to her stomach. "That's..."

He was so close. Was he...

"To be honest..." He was saying when he suddenly pulled away and went to check on the men. "Oh, the guys are gone. Let's get going."

"Okay."

She couldn't stop thinking about what he'd wanted to do back then. What was he going to say? Did she ask him for nothing?

Was it strange to ask in this sort of situation in the first place? Was that why he'd pulled away?

"Wait... Riña."

"What?"

He turned to gesture at the path ahead. "Look. In our path, there are at least a hundred of Joel's people and if they sense something suspicious, they'll blow up the ship right away."

She nodded. "You're right. This seems super dangerous."

He sighed. "Yeah, I think we might have to replan this operation. Even if it takes a little longer, let's do this one by one..." He was saying when she zoomed towards them and Kaiwan was surprised when she knocked them out in less than a minute. As expected from a pureblood.

"Since I've done this, we can finish this more quickly right?" She panted.

"Wow, cheat keys are really your solution huh?" He smiled, one which warmed her heart.

"But if you do this Riña, you won't be able to see my amazing undercover detective skills."

She scoffed as he walked over to her. "Who wants to see them?"

They both hovered to the top of the shipping containers where it would be easy for them to see approaching minions, and they headed for Joel's office.

"We're almost there now...but Riña, aren't you scared?" He asked and she turned to him.

"Scared? Of what?"

"Of Joel."

The weather was already showing signs that it was about to rain.

"Well...I'm not really scared. Being scared won't change anything."

"It seems like I just learned about something." He smiled.

"Joel...you said he's a heinous bastard, right?"

He turned to the building ahead of them with a frown. "Yeah, I have no idea what he's up to, but we should stay alert and go in."

"Let's hurry up and meet him."
