"Joel...you said he's a heinous bastard, right?"
He turned to the building ahead of them with a frown.
"Yeah, I have no idea what he's up to, but we should stay alert and go in."
"Let's hurry up and meet him." She said as they walked on.
They were a couple of metres close to the building when Kaiwan stopped her.
"Riña, there's a problem."
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"The earlier location was outside so the security was a bit loose. There no way we can use the same method here."
"Why not?" That was the easiest method though, apart from hypnosis.
"Look." He turned to the road ahead and she turned to follow his eyes. "The distance from here to the ship is about one kilometer and hundreds of vampires were placed in through there and it's tightly arranged."He paused and turned to her. "If you try hypnotizing them in this situation while we head over there, Joel will be notified. Then the ship will blow up... Riña, shall we find another way to get there, other than the boat?
She but her lower lip and her mind went back to what Vael had told them.
"Joel is Yiannais'right hand man and on behalf of Yiannais who doesn't want to be externally revealed, Joel is a murderer whose hands are stained with blood. If you guys don't handle it now, this world will suffer greatly in the future."
She shook her head. "No, we'll miss the boat and Joel if we end up looking for another way. We have to go this way."
"Then what do you suggest we do? We can't risk the ship blowing up." He said and she turned back to look at the building. "Detective..."
"Yeah?"
A smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she turned back to him. "What if there's a way for us to get there in thirty seconds?"
"What?"
A clap of thunder raced madly across the sky, bathing Joel in an eerie blue light as he twirled his glass of alcohol.
It was absolutely impossible.
It would take quite a while to get through her, no matter how pure-blooded she was.
All he needed to do was release the bait he had prepared for her
And the moment she was found, he would leisurely get out.
Once there was a signal coming right from the entrance, he would blow up this ship.
Then he would escape on a private boat.
He laughed before taking a sip from his drink. The pureblood had underestimated him.
But it was really strange.
He looked down at his hand which had been trembling for a while. It was the first time he had been nervous in a while. It only meant one thing. It was going to be fun when he dealt with her.
He picked up his phone and dialled one of his men who answered almost immediately.
"Is team A guarding the entrance?"
"We have already set it up."
"Good."
He was going to slow things down. Once he had taken care of the pureblood, Yiannais would be pleased and he would be rewarded.
He couldn't wait.
The ceiling suddenly crashed and he sprang to his feet in time to see the detective and pureblood jumping down from the roof.
"What?"
The detective smiled as he dusted off his jacket. "Riña, I think it took less than thirty seconds."
"It must be raining now." She said as she looked out through the window.
How were they here?
"Wh... what is this? How did you get here?
How can you get here in such a short time?"
He stuttered.
It was impossible. His men had not relayed information to him that the pureblood was around. How did she manage to escape being spotted despite the long distance?
She sighed as she folded her arms "I'm in a hurry so I'll explain it briefly. We ran."
"Nonsense. You ran through the gap in a single breath." He paused for a minute to hide his nervousness. "Well, I knew the pureblood's have physical capacity that is unimaginable.
However..." He was saying as he turned his hands to her and she didn't look scared when his hands came on fire. "...this power is enough to stop it. Trust me, even a pureblood can't stop this. It causes organs to burst from the depths of your body. In a few seconds, you'll be in ashes." He laughed, expecting her to absorb his power and yell in agony but to his surprise, nothing happened.
"Wait...why can't you absorb it?" He blinked and the detective clicked his tongue.
"Like seriously?"
That was impossible. No one had ever escaped dying when he had attacked using his power. Could it be...
"That's right. I blocked your power without having to lift a finger."
A cold shiver ran down his spine and beads of sweat ran down his face. No wonder, she was feared by everyone. No wonder it as been completely futile to get her heart. He was doomed.
He suddenly recalled he was supposed to destroy the ship in that situation and he turned to his table where he had kept the switch.
His eyes bulged out on seeing it was gone and fear with panic kicked in as he searched frantically for it.
Where did it go? He wondered.
"Are you looking for this?"
His head sharply turned to the reminants of the switch on the floor with the detective's foot over the rest of them.
"Oh my, what did I do...I didn't know what it was, but after I stepped on it, I realized it was the controller."
He swallowed hard.
Honestly, a part of him had expected this to happen.
He had been rolling in thorns all his life and
as he had endured clenching his teeth in that place to become the strongest, he had to result to eating people.
It had always his way to live through the world of the jungle.
He only had to result to his final option and he hurried over to kneel in front of her.
"I will be loyal...I did this because Yiannais ordered me to. It was against my will."
Zuriña sighed as she looked down on him."Detective, what should we do?"
"Even before he became a vampire, he was infamous within the police force. Depending on the situation, he sticks to an advantage and then to another like a bat."
He raised his head to her, tears crawling down his face. She would probably pity him.
"Tell me everything you need and I'll do it. If you ask me, I'll even be your tail wagging dog...I'll turn over the boat. pureblood, it would be difficult for two people to go over to that island...I will help with anything since there are a lot of men on ground. I can do anything."
"But he's not human, so there's no need to hand him over to the authorities." Kaiwan said.
"Is that so?...However, this is tempting. How can you change your mind so quickly and become our strength?" She asked.
"I'll do anything..."
Now that he saw it, he had rolled in a field of thorns. The pureblood was the thorny field.
The thorny field that would end him.
She raised her foot over him. "I don't need a million troops." She said and dropped her foot on his head, smashing his skull instantly.
