He sighed as he turned to her. "You asked me if there was someone I liked, right? There was, no...To say it clearly, there is...but the me who doesn't have much time left feels it will be too selfish for me to say it, but even so..." He clenched his fist. "...I like you a lot, Zuriña...I'm sorry, I'm a coward so I can't say it when you're awake." He said and he lowered his face to hers.
Riña waited for the detective to lock lips with her but wasn't surprised when he carried her in his arms, away from the deck. He was probably taking her inside.
He carefully dropped her on a bed, one she found very comfortable and went to take off her shoes before he pulled up the bedspread to cover her.
"Goodnight, Riña." He whispered before he walked out.
She waited for the door to click close before she opened her eyes.
"I'm sorry detective...I couldn't open my eyes.
At least that means...I thought I should finish all of this before I deserve to hear it. So, please wait for a while."
Levi walked into the living room, where Yiannais was started watching the night news, bearing a bottle and glass.
She walked over to drop the bottle and glass on the table before she poured him a cup of his favorite. The blood of a teenager.
"Fortunately the drugs were shipped easily.
I don't know what happened but the word spread faster than I thought." She said as she sat beside him.
"A couple more days to go. October 1st, I'll end everything." He said, picking up his glass to drain its' contents. It was just the way he liked it.
"I will have it ready to go according to your plan, how do you feel?" She asked as he lowered his glass.
"I feel very glad until the end."
"Yian..." She drawled as she slowly crawled to sit on his laps. "It has been rough these days, aren't you tired?"
He raised his fingers to massage his forehead with a ragged sigh. "I'm too weak to lessen your burden."
"But I can make you divert your attention for a while." She whispered as she ran her hands underneath his shirt.
He dropped his hand ro look at her. "Why are you loyal to me?"
"What do you mean?"
"All the angels of death are now dead or gone. It might be your turn, aren't you nervous?" He asked and she smiled.
"Nervous, I'm not...I won't betray you because of anyone or anything, pureblood or not." She said.
She was startled when he roughly grabbed her to toss her to the sofa and in a twinkle of an eye, he was on top of her.
"Yian..."
He kissed her to silenced her as he snaked to the back of her head to pull her close to him as he worked on her tongue and she moaned softly as she worked on the buttons of his shirt while his other hand tugged at her top.
Yian's spot on the bed was empty when she woke to the swishing sounds of water in the bathroom, the next morning.
Her phone rang and she looked down at the caller ID. It was one of her men.
"Yeah?"
"A ship has been spotted approaching." He said and she sat up, holding the sheets against her naked body.
"Really?"
"Yes, Miss."
So the pureblood was around. "I got it." She said and hung up.
Yiannais walked out of the bathroom, wiping his hair dry with a towel. Levi couldn't keep her eyes off him, wondering how a person could look sinfully handsome.
"What is it?" He asked when he noticed she was staring.
She swallowed. "Um...A ship has been sighted outside."
He walked over to the window,to look out. "It must be Zuriña."
"The plan, do you want to execute it?" She asked but he didn't reply and she understood what that meant.
"Yian, don't tell me you're having second thoughts..." Her voice trailed off. He clearly was.
"Yian, you have come all this way for this and you're thinking of..." She was saying when he abruptly turned to send her daggers.
She lowered her head. "I'm sorry...that's not what I meant."
"You're going back to Washington today." He said and her head jerked up immediately.
"What?...Why?...I want to be with you,Yian."
"I don't need you anymore." He replied.
She rose from the bed, pulling the sheets with her. "I'm sorry.I made a mistake... I won't interfere in your business anymore."
"I know...I know, just...Get lost." He said and walked out of the room.
Tears rose in her eyes as she slumped to the floor as she recalled the day she had met Yiannais.
She had stood at the rail of a bridge one winter, ready to commit suicide to escape from the hell of living with her father.
"If you're going to do it, do it quickly." She had heard someone say behind her and she had turned to see Yiannais, a grim look on his face.
"What?"
"It'll be hard for you to make up your mind if you're just going to stand there."
She had swallowed. "How do you know? That standing here will not change my mind."
"I've been in your shoes before."
Looking at him back then, she hadn't been sure whether she wanted him to save her or not. But no matter how she expected from someone, she only got disappointment.
So at that point, she hadn't expected to be disappointed.
She gnawed at her lower lip as one of Yian's men escorted her to the car, when she was ready.
"We've arranged a ship for your trip..." He was saying as they walked towards the car.
She wouldn't disobey him and she wouldd go to Washington quietly, but...
She raised her hand to snap her fingers and the car exploded right away.
She would just finish the rest of her work.
"Miss Levi..."
She slanted her eyes to the man who flinched as he lowered his head. "Now I can't go to the ship anymore, so call the guys. Execute the plan with everything we've got."
"I understand, Miss." He said and scurried away.
Even if Yian hadn't given the order, she was ready to take the pureblood down.
