Chapter 80

A frown settled on Zuriña's face."What are you going to do with that?"

"I told you, I will show you my love...I've been preparing this for you for years. From now on, I'll be pouring all the acid unto you...You can't escape even if your ancestors came." Levi breathed and her mind went back to the detective.

"No, Detective."

Levi took advantage of the diversion to hit Zuriña on the stomach before she started crawling to get away from her.

"That's not possible." Zuriña yelled as she reached towards Levi who spat out blood in her face and Zuriña fell back.

"The detective is on the twenty third floor... Even if you found a path going there, he would have melted without a trace...I'm the only one who knows the exit. Zuriña, you can't do anything."

She raised her hand to her earpiece as tears rose in her eyes. "Detective.... Detective, can you hear me?" She screamed and Levi staggered as she rose to race out of the room.

Tears started crawling down her cheeks as she dropped to the floor. It couldn't be. Kaiwan couldn't be...

"Hey, pureblood." Someone called from her earpiece and her head jerked up immediately.

"Detective..."

"It's Vael. pureblood."

Her heart thumped faster. "Vael, how's..."

"Kaiwan's with me."

Fresh tears welled up in her eyes as relief washed through her. "Th...Thank you..."

"Thank me later and get out of there right now." She heard him say and she turned to look around the hall. The only exit was the way she had come.

"But Vael..."

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"I don't think I can get out of here."

"Alright. Just follow the directions I give you. Okay?"

"Okay." She replied.

"Don't take the elevator down. There should be a hallway by your left." He said and she turned to the confirm.

"I see it."

"Run down that hallway and turn right."

"Down the hallway and right." She repeated and raced down the hallway.

"Turn right again."

"Right?"

"Yup."He replied.

"Wait, how do you know this is the path?"

"Somehow it worked that way. The detective is a sly man. He had figured something like this might happen so he told me to tell you."

The air around her suddenly felt heavy and she fought back the impulse to pass out right there and then.

She found herself outside the hotel a couple of minutes later and she dragged in a ragged breath, glad to inhale fresh air from the outside world again. Her ears pricked up on hearing something and she sharply turned to see an injured Levi, on a call making her way out of the hotel and towards a cliff. She was probably reporting back to Yiannais, she thought as she stealthily walked behind her.

"Yian, I've killed Zuriña...I'll arrive with her heart shortly." She said and hung up.

"Zuriña Anderson, didn't I tell you? The more desperate one wins and that's me..." She muttered and suddenly halted, wondering why a part of her felt mad.

"Do you still not understand?" She asked and Levi turned to her with bulging eyes, like she had seen a ghost.

"Wh.. what? Zuriña Anderson? No, it can't be...how...how did you get out of there?...This can't be true, you are supposed to be dead, you disgusting monster."She stuttered in fear.

"A monster?"Zuriña asked with a chuckle. "It's been a while I've heard that. It sounds more like a compliment to me."

"What do you..."

"Where's Yiannais?" She interjected and Levi scoffed.

"You don't expect me to tell you, right?"

Zuriña sighed as she raised her arms to flex her muscles and ease off a little tension. "Honestly, I don't...I'm expect I'm going to beat it out of you." She said and raced towards her.

Levi made no attempt to block or avoid the hits but rather let Zuriña beat her to a pulp.

Her body and nerves already felt like they were all tangled up from the first beat down and she knew there was no way she could recover. She was going to die.

"That's right Levi." Zuriña said as she kept registeri jabs into her body. "As of now, your body is all crushed up. Even if you recover, you won't live for long."

Zuriña raised her fist but halted when Levi communicated to her through telepathy.

"Zuriña, to be honest I know why I was mad.

Compared to your love that's pure and straightforward...my love was disgusting and twisted. Somehow compared to me that wants to get recognized by Yiannais,I would feel like I would disappear if I didn't do that much. But, I was selfishly loving myself..."

Zuriña panted as she dropped her hand.

"Everyone deserves to be comforted, but killing to gain comfort, you have passed the point of no return. So, tell me where Yiannais is."

Levi turned her head to spit out blood before she turned back to Zuriña. "Alright... I will tell you. Yiannais is at...at a place even I don't know. So, just kill me. After all the only way I can rest is through death." She managed to say.

"You want me to kill you?" She arched her brow.

"Yes, this is what I deserve...And there's no chance for me to recover either." She panted and Zuriña curled her fist.

"No, I won't kill you...If you want to die so badly, you're free to jump into the ocean." She said as she rose and turned to search for Yiannais.

"I killed a lot of people...Are you just going to let me..." Levi was saying when she slanted her eyes to her.

"That will be your guilt to bear. It's not like killing you or anyone else brings me joy." She said and raced back to the hotel.

So she was back to her square one again, Levi thought.

There was no use in living anymore, she thought to herself as she slowly rose to walk to the end of the cliff. The plan had failed as Yiannais kept having second thoughts and there was no way he would ever be hers, no matter how many people she killed.

Tears rose in her brown eyes as she stopped at the end of the cliff. Her life had still been the mess it was, even after ten years.

She dragged in a deep breath and allowed herself to fall back into the ocean.

If only, she could see him one more time...

She closed her eyes, allowing the water to flow into her system and slowly drain life out of her as she waited for death when a warm hand which she recognized held her head from inside the water and she opened her eyes to see Yiannais pulling her to him as he swam to the shore.

"I'm sorry. You told me to go to Florida, but I made a mess instead." She whispered,a couple of minutes later after he had rescued her.

"I already knew that." He said as he turned to look down at the poor creature in his arms. She still hadn't changed, both ten years ago and now.

"I'm like a moth...Jumping into the fire, knowing it would burn to death. But I couldn't stop. I felt like I'd disappear if I had stopped."A sad smile crossed her lips as she raised her head to look at Yiannais. "Didn't you know? Since you did...let me ask you a question. Why did you let me stay by your side?"

He sighed as he turned to the ocean. The view that evening was a lonesome one. "Because you're like me...but you shouldn't live like me."

Tears welled up in her eyes as pain shot through her entire body. "I've been trying to ignore it...but the feelings you have when you look at me is only sympathy. Did you know? I never once read your mind...Because I knew who you were looking at, even without checking. After all these, I feel quite relieved. I'm now left with now regrets...." She said and slowly raised her hand to cup her cheek. "Yian...can you smile for me just this once?" She asked, tears streaming down her face and Yiannais turned to look down at her, his look unchanging even as her eyelids slowly started to close.

Zuriña was walking through one of the gardens that night and she stumbled of a familiar flower. Crouching to have a look, she recalled it was a flower she had once seen in a textbook with Yiannais.

The evening breeze suddenly changed to a very heavy one and she frowned on recognizing the presence of her sworn enemy.

"I don't know what changed your mind..." She was saying as she rose. "...but I am so glad we have met so quickly. Because I just might have blown up the entire Amelia island. Don't you think so?Yiannais...Let's finish this."
