The next morning Simmi came near Sujata."Bhabhi, I want to go and meet ma, it has been days since I met her. While returning I will meet Khanna, uncle and aunty."
"Ok, go ahead but come fast ." Hearing Sujata's consent, Simmi rushed towards the car and went away.
In the hospital at the ICU," ma, I have come to meet you. I want to convey good news, bhabhi is pregnant with bhai's child. She wanted to abort the child as she will get stuck but I will not let her go ahead. I will do anything to stop her from aborting. This child is a token of my bhai. I can't let anything happen to it ." Her voice choked on, tears started to trickle from her eyes. Whining she embraced her mother and then wiping off her tears she went to meet the doctor.
" Good morning doctor." She entered the doctor's cabin.
"Good morning Simmi. Did you meet your mother?" The elderly doctor was not only their family doctor but also her father's friend. He considers her as his daughter.
"Yes I did but there seems to be no progress?." Simmi had a gloomy look. Her brows were furrowed.
"I know Simmi, she is just breathing. I don't know why she is not responding to the treatment. Let us hope for the best." The doctor was perplexed.
"Ok doctor, thanks, please take care of her. She is the only family I have."
"Don't worry I will and will let you know if there is any progress." The doctor assured her. Simmi left the doctor's chamber.
Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Sujata's delivery date was nearing. Her baby bump has grown big and it was making it difficult for her to do her daily chores.
On one fine day, Sujata declared at the breakfast table that "Rajan, I want you to go to our Mumbai branch after my delivery."
"Is everything alright there, why do you want me to go there, and who will look after here." Rajan was not getting a clear picture of her motives.
"Everything is fine there but you will go there and as for here I will look after."
" Stressing yourself after delivery is not a good idea, besides, the child would be needing you." Rajan tried to give her a picture of her life after delivery.
"I won't be stressing myself and as for the child, Simmi can look after. As far as her studies are concerned she can finish her graduation privately." Sujata couldn't stand it as she was feeling uncomfortable and had slight pain in her abdomen.
"But bhabi." Suddenly Simmi mumbled, who was silent till now.
"Listen, everyone, I'm not asking for your advice, I'm just giving you orders which you have to follow and if you don't want to follow, then be ready to face the consequences. The child would go to some orphanage and your mother's treatment would end. Do let me know. I don't have time."
"We will follow, "both of them answered unanimously. They were feeling helpless.
Suddenly she felt an intense pain in her abdomen. It was so intense that her body jolted, she gripped the chair and shouted. She could feel wetness in her legs.
" Damn, it is time for delivery, Simmi, Rajan, please help." Rajan ran towards the drive-in and Simmi took all the things required in the hospital and simultaneously helped Sujata to get in the car. They drove towards the hospital. Rajan had already called the hospital and they had made all arrangements. As soon as they arrived at the hospital campus, a wheelchair and a nurse was waiting for them who took them to the emergency ward.
Dr Sakshi was waiting for her. She asked them to wait outside. "Sujata, I think you are ready for delivery. Let us check your dilation. Take deep breaths." Sujata was feeling helpless, the pain was agonizing her. "Push hard Sujata, I can see the crown. You are doing fine, take deep breaths and push hard". Suddenly the room was filled with the cries of the child." Congratulations, boy. Would you like to have a look?"
Sujata looked at the baby with loved filled eyes," he is so cute"
The nurse then took the baby to clean and do initial check-ups.
"Your baby is perfectly fine and you can hold him after you are cleaned and changed."
The doctor then comes out and gives the news to Rajan and Simmi. Hearing it both of them are overjoyed. Simmi then asks the sister(nurse)"sister, how is bhabhi and can we see the baby?"
"Yes, you can once both of them are shifted to their room. "
As soon as Sujata is brought up in her room both of them enter."Wow bhabhi, congratulations. Permit me to have a look at my nephew."Simmi takes the baby from the nurse. He took his father's look. Black eyes and hair. Pink thin lips like his mother. Rajan was standing at the door frame and looking at all of them. He didn't come in ."Bhai why don't you come in and take him, he is so cute. He resembles bhai. Bhabhi have you thought of any name?"
"Abhimanyu Raj Kapoor". Sujata immediately told everyone.
After Raja's death, it was the first time that everyone was so happy. Simmi was missing her mother so she gave the baby to Sujata for nursing, as he was hungry. She went to the ICU to give her mother the good news.
"ma, can you hear me? There is good news bhabhi has given birth to a cute little boy. He resembles bhai. Ma, please wake up. I miss you so much. "With that, her voice got choked and she started sobbing. All of a sudden what she saw made her heart leap in joy, her mother's eyes flickered and slowly they opened and then she murmured, "Raj is back". This made Simmi speechless, she didn't know what to say or do, she was frozen for a few seconds before she could say or react her mother's eyes were closed once again. As soon as she realised what had happened she pressed the buzzer for the nurse on duty. When the nurse came Simmi was briefed on what had happened a few minutes ago. Although the nurse didn't believe what Simmi was saying, she reluctantly called the doctor. The doctor checked Rajini but didn't find anything unusual.
He asked Simmi to come to his chamber and asked her to describe everything in detail. After hearing everything he stated that, "I think it was your illusion because according to the check-up I didn't find the sign of her being awake even for a few seconds but since you are emphasising I would perform certain tests and will let you know."
"Ok, thanks, doctor. Simmi said reluctantly as no one was believing her.
With that, she went towards Sujata's room as she would be needing her to take care of the child.
As soon as she enters the room she sees Sujata who was looking angry ."Where have you gone, don't you know that with the newborn baby I would be needing your help ."
"Bhabhi I had just gone to give the news to ma. " She wanted to tell her about Rajini's reaction but then decided against it.
Dragging her out from her thoughts, Sujata snapped at her. "Change the diaper and make the baby formula for him and give it to me I will feed him."
Rajan was watching everything silently. He can't do anything against Sujata. He has to bear everything for his loved ones but is happy as he has now become an uncle.
Since it was a normal delivery Sujata was discharged the very next day and they took the mother and baby to the mansion.
