Chapter A Cure.

Ethan

How dare she? How dare she talk to me like that? Did she forget who I was?

I was furious, I knew she was trying all possible means to push me away but I couldn't help but still be angry that she could speak to me in such a demeaning manner.

Do I really mean nothing to her? Was last night really a mistake to her?

I had come to her about what transpired between us and how I wanted her to be mine but she ended up making me furious and I stupidly blurted out that I was getting married in seven days.

I really don't know what to do, I wanted to start something with Aurora but I'm beginning to think again that's perhaps, Tiffany was a better option. For the family, it was. It was what everybody wanted after all, including her.

I took a deep breath as I placed my hand on the door knob leading to the conference hall. I had a meeting with the elders, I knew what they were going to talk about and I didn't want to address the issue especially now that I was upset but I couldn't just avoid them so I had to go.

I stepped into the room and the noise calmed down, I could feel their eyes on me but I didn't care. I took my seat staring blankly at the glass table, my mind lost in a sea of thoughts.

“Ahem… My Lord I'm sure you know where we gathered here and called for a meeting,” the familiar voice of one of my elders said.

I had heard quite alright but I was not physically present to reply him. I couldn't stop thinking about Aurora, she made me so angry and made me desire her so deeply at the same time. It was infuriating, last night was the night I will never forget but she was pushing me to forget with her actions. Goddess! What do I do?

“Your highness, did you hear what I said?” the nagging short man's voice broke into my thoughts making me growl in anger.

"Yes! Yes, I heard you alright. Good goddess, why is everybody hellbent on pissing my off this morning?" I grumbled with a loud hiss. Deep down I knew that their words wasn't the sole cause of my anger, as I spoke I kept remembering Aurora's attitude towards me earlier this morning and it made me even angrier.

“We are sorry your highness we just couldn't keep calm while we watched the pack wallowing in misery because of the plague. Ever since doctor Rory showed up we had kept hope alive that she would be able to help us with a cure but it's been months now and no cure has being found.

Our families are down with the virus, some are close to death's gate and we are suffering, we need a better solution. In fact I'm beginning to think that that doctor Rory is a scam, perhaps she was looking for a way to come back into the park and she deceived you into thinking she was a doctor." I watched as the woman speaking spoke while the other elders agreed in the background.

My jaw ticked hard, her words was even more infuriating than the man's, “She deceived me? You actually think such a person can deceive me? I may be anything but gullible is what I am not. Aurora is not a sham, she is a qualified doctor who has been and is still trying her best to find a cure to the plague.

Thanks to her, many of your family members who are near death's gate, as you said, have not crossed over because she worked hard to find a temporary cure to the illness. How many of you thanked her when she achieved this feet? How many of you congratulated her for her discovery? Yet here you are speaking against her. Shame on you lot, shame."

Some of the elders had their head bowed in shame why some were still redundant. Still, I was glad that for once, some of them had nothing to say.

I kidnapped Aurora to help my people against her wish, I did not offer to pay her for her service but she still stayed to help, we were supposed to be indebted to her instead of tagging her a scam.

Minus our love-hate relationship, I was still grateful to her for helping the pack in this trying times.

Wait! Love-hate? Do I even love her?

“You do, we do” Leo said at the back of my mind, yipping in delight.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head of unconsciously. I don't think love was enough word to describe what I felt for her. There was this strong pull dragging me towards her. This...desire?

“Focus on loving Tiffany, that's your only job. She's the perfect one for us” I countered both Leo and myself. I couldn't be feeling for Aurora who didn't want to have anything to do with me.

“Our mate is the perfect one for us” Leo countered back, stubbornly.

“Oh, like Isadora right?” I mocked and Leo fell silent, giving up.

“Aurora is doing a good job, a very good job but we are running out of time, your highness, more than 70% of the park has fallen under the plague. We need something and we need it now,” A voice I couldn't get angry at whispered to me. It was Sam and for the goddess' delight, I wished he waited till we were done with the meeting before he lectured me.

Rolling my eyes, I looked up to see the grave look on his face and pain behind them, I frowned and asked, “What’s wrong, Sam?”

“I…” he stammered a bit. The entire room turned to look at him curiously, he gulped and continued, “I found my mate but she's down with the virus. I found her alone in her house sprawled on the bed almost lifelessly, she is in a critical condition and since she is an orphan and has no one, no one could help her to the hospital. If I wasn't there on time, who knows…” his voice cracked towards the end, the guilt was clear in his voice and I immediately felt bad for him. His mate had been in the pack for a long while and riddled with sickness but he didn't know.

“Have you taken her to the hospital? I asked

“Yes” he nodded and said.

I sighed, “Don't worry Sam, she will be fine, I promise. I will speak to Aurora about hastening up her research and giving us something to start it. ” I said, loud enough for everyone to hear.

Just as the words were leaving my lips, her sweet scent filled my nose indicating that she was close by, then I heard her footsteps walking into the room.

Speak of the devil…

“That won't be necessary, I already have the cure." she said.
