Aurora

After the meeting with Tiffany, I was not in a good mood to speak to Ethan so I quietly back to work. He was at fault for whatever happened and I wanted him to reflect on what he did wrong and find a solution himself.

“Well well well, Doctor Rory, you seem to have outdone yourself again. I knew you could find the cure to the plague, I never doubted you even for a minute” I heard the familiar voice of Reginald just by the entrance of the ward. The news of the cure travelled faster than I thought for Reginald to be here already.

“Oh please Reginald, don't flatter me” I smiled and paused what I was doing before coming to greet him properly. We had a hearty hug and found a place to seat.

“You know, the first time I saw you all those years ago, I saw your potential and I invested in it without delay, I feel so proud to see your progress” He said once all pleasantries were exchanged.

I chuckled and replied appreciatively, “That’s why I'm forever indebted to you. You changed my life for the better, how could I ever repay you?”

“Well, you can by following me to Greece…” He urged and trailed off with a smile.

I sighed and withdrew a little, Greece was definitely not an option especially with the way Ethan and I were going. If all ends well then I was supposed to be the Luna of the pack, I wouldn't be able to leave at all.

He probably noticed my drawback so he tried convince, “I know it's a hard decision to make but please consider it. Greece needs a dedicated doctor like you, your name will soar even more than it did for the past ten years if you give this opportunity a chance”

I gave him a smile, “Trust me I know this Reginald, that's why I am still thinking about it. I don't know how to explain it now but I am waiting on something, if it doesn't work out then I'll definitely hit you up alright?”

Reginald nodded in understanding, “Alright, well then I'll pray it doesn't work out” he said and we both laughed. Okay, maybe he didn't fully understand what I was talking about.

“What’s going on here? Reginald, you are here” Ethan's familiar voice came through the door. He looked a little disoriented but he hid it with a smile.

Reginald stood up and exchanged pleasantries and said afterwards, “I heard the news of the cure being discovered and had to come to congratulate my dear Rory for the success. She is a real gem that I'm glad to have discovered.” He glanced at him and I blushed, his words were really nice. If not for Ethan, I would have probably made up my mind about moving to Greece with him.

“That she is… a gem” Ethan said while looking at me with a solemn longing look, I had to look away because I felt nervous under his gaze.

“Yeah, your pack is going to be in tippy top shape in no time. I heard the cure is very effective with no side effects. Doctor Rory, I'm curious about how you pulled that off” The men turned their curious eyes to me and I immediately felt anxious.

“Uhm… it was mere luck that I was able to find the cure. There was a little detail that has been passing over my head since I started testing but I luckily figured it out and voila, the cure was discovered” I answered vaguely. I didn't need to go into details and I tried to maintain a casual composure.

“But how? What was the main breakthrough, the turning point?” Reginald unfortunately pestered.

“It’s a long story, one that cannot be discussed now because I still have patients to attend to. I'll tell you later” I waved him off with a smile even though my heart was pounding anxiously in my chest. I mentally prayed to moon goddess that he dropped the topic and stopped asking questions.

“Well, I should be on my way, I have an appointment to meet up with” To my relief Reginald said with a sigh.

“Damn, that was a quick visit” Ethan commented as they half hugged each other goodbye.

Reginald chuckled, “I just came to try my luck to see if Rory would want to come with me now to Greece. Better luck next time” he playfully winked at me and walked away.

I chuckled at his persistence and watched him disappear from my eye sight, leaving me with Ethan.

“Didn’t you tell him that you won't going to Greece with him?” Ethan asked.

I could hear the disappointment and sadness in his voice, but I pushed away the guilt I felt and replied, “No I didn't, and that's because…”

He cut me off and finished for me, “because you want to keep your options open. I get it. You don't trust me completely and I understand, I deserve it so I don't blame you”

There was silence in the room, I didn't know what to say, he was right about me not trusting him 100%. For all I know, Arne may be in danger if his identify was leaked, so I couldn't take any chances and afford to relax.

“You don't have to say anything else. It's my fault and I promise I'll fixed it. You won't have to accept Reginald's offer at all because I'll make sure you become my Luna and that too with the support of everybody” he promised with a firm tone full of determination then he walked out of the room and straight out of the hospital building.

I sighed as I watched him leave. For his sake, I really hope things work that way. Because if it came to it and I do not feel welcomed in this pack, I won't hesitate to leave with Arne for our safety. It won't definitely hurt to leave my mate but I did it ten years ago and so I can do it again.
