Chapter The Reason.

Ethan

I hurriedly left the hospital with a determined gaze, I couldn't lose Aurora again and I was going to make sure of that. I would dedicate my time and attention to fix every mistake I had made, I was going to catch up to Tiffany and apologize and make her see reason.

Hopefully, she hasn't spoken to my mother yet. I could still stop her.

I got to the house and went straight to my parent's wing. Just by the hallway, I could see Tiffany talking to my mother already, I hurried to join them.

Shit! I was too late.

The duo had a serious gloomy face on and as I stepped into the room, their conversation ceased and Tiffany just walked out without looking at me.

I was confused as to what was going on seeing Tiffany walk out like that. I turned to look at my mother, she didn't look angry like I expected her to be, instead she looked sad.

“Mum, Tiffany, she…” I began to say but she cut me off.

“She’s such a sweet girl, isn't she? She would have been perfect for a Luna but I guess she has already made her decision. She doesn't want to tell me why no matter how much I push, did she tell you why?” my mum asked.

I was even more confused, I thought I would be shouted at and there would be a lot of arguments when I arrived but this was the complete opposite “Why what? Tell me what?” I asked.

My mum raised her head to look at me in surprise, “Son, she didn't tell you that she was calling off the wedding? I thought she already told you before coming to tell me. Quick, go and see if you can talk to her before she leaves” She urged me with slight push.

Wait...Tiffany didn't report like I thought she would, she called off the wedding instead.

I let out a guilty sigh. Here I was thinking she was going to be a problem but alas, she was only expressing her hurt.

I left my mum and ran out to catch up with Tiffany if she was still around.

I was lucky enough to see her about to enter her car, when she saw me coming she stopped but avoided my eyes.

“Thank you, Tiffany” was the first thing I said when I came to stand beside her. If not for Aurora, I wouldn't have minded marrying Tiffany, she was a way better person than Isadora would ever be.

“I didn't do it for you. I did it for Aurora, she doesn't deserve all that drama after saving the pack from such a serious epidemic” she said in a plain but strained tone.

“I understand, I deserve it. Thank you once again for putting her into consideration and I'm genuinely sorry for hurting you… I will feel guilty about it forever” I replied.

Tiffany sighed and sniffled, “Feeling guilty forever is going to suck, don't do that” she managed to chuckle a little at the end, considerably lighting up the mood.

I chuckled back and with a small smile I asked, “So what are you going to do now?”

“I dunno. I was thinking of traveling to see the world and explore. It's what I wanted to do if I wasn’t tied down to a pack as Luna” she answered, her voice much lighter now.

I was glad we were okay to some extent, I didn't want there to be any bad blood between us.

“That’s a good idea” I said and she nodded.

“Alright then, goodbye Alpha Ethan” She said and entered her car.

I stepped away a bit as she started the engine, and then I asked,“Will we see you again?”

She smiled and winked, “Maybe. Don't fuck things up with Aurora”

“I won't” I said more to myself as I watched her drive away.

I heard breathless approaching footsteps behind me, I turned to see Sam. I haven't seen him all day since Aurora gave his mate the cure.

“How is Aria feeling now?” I asked, Aria was Sam's mate.

“Much better, she is asleep now. I'm sorry for being on and off work today” Sam answered and said with a little guilty look.

“Hey, it's fine, your mate comes first. Besides, nothing much has happened for me to need your help” I replied with a smile. We began walking back into the house together as we discussed.

“Thank you, alpha. So what's the update?” he asked.

“Well, the cure is circulating perfectly, every patient got at least a dose today. Also the wedding has been called off so stop all preparations” I said as casually as possible but the news still made Sam stop on his tracks in shock.

“How? When? What happened?” Sam bombarded me with questions.

“Calm down. Tiffany came here about an hour ago and told the queen that she wanted to call of the wedding and she refused to say why. Even I asked and she wouldn't say why, we can't possibly force her into the wedding against her will so we have no choice than to let it be. She had just drove off seconds before you came” I explained to him. I could not afford to tell him the real truth now until I have certain things in place. My narration was the false story everybody was going to hear, only Aurora and I knew the truth.

Sam was quiet for a few minutes, he kept glancing at me but I refused to meet his eyes. It wasn't that I was afraid of him but he was admitted quite clever and he has been my closest companion for years, he knew me too well.

“So Tiffany just showed up randomly to call off the wedding with no valid reason?” he asked.

“Yes” I answered.

He stopped walking and came to stand in front of me, “Come on alpha, I don't believe that. I have known you for so many years, It's me Sam your trusted aide. Do you really think I'm going to buy that story?”

I rolled my eyes at his words, “Why? Why can't you buy it?”

“Well, for start, you look shockingly fine for someone whose wedding was just called off” he folded his hands and eyed me suspiciously.

“It was an arranged marriage remember? What do you want me to do, roll on the floor and cry?” I questioned a little irritated. If not that Sam was my closest friend, I wouldn't have taken such questioning lightly.

Sam paused for a few seconds then he asked in a low tone, “Is it because of Aurora?”
