There was excitement in the air and I knew why, I was getting discharged from the hospital today.
As I stepped out with Sam by my side, I arrived at the Palace to see the crowd of people gathered, cheerful and happy that their king was back. I wasn't surprised, I had called for the gathering because it was time for me to tell them about Aurora as Luna.
I wanted to address it immediately, no time wasted and no hesitation. Aurora would be completely mine and so I was impatient.
“Long live the alpha” Everyone chanted happily as I made my way to sit on the throne that faced everyone. My family sat on lower chairs beside me with Sam standing at my other side.
I raised my hand and there was immediate silence before I started saying
“Greetings everyone. Thank you for your love and well wishes towards me while I was in the hospital. These past one year has been a trying time for everyone of us and I am very glad that we were able to scale through it. After everything, we came out stronger and united than ever. Thank you all for sticking around for me, I am grateful”
The genuity in my voice could not be matched to what I felt in my heart. I was happy my pack stood by me, the traitors, not so much but everyone was going to get what they deserved.
There was happy chatter in the crowd but once I raised my hand up, it paused.
“Now that everything is over, there is an order of things and a change of rules that will lead the pack into greater heights. First of all, I would like to let everyone know that Aurora and I had been seeing each other for some time now. And that I love her. And that she is my mate. But mate or mate bond, the thing here is that I love her and I was her by my side as Luna and I hope you accept her and Arne.”
I said and gestured to Sam who in turn walked inside and came out with Aurora and Arne. I walked to them and took Aurora and Arne's hand on both my sides.
There was first deafening silence and then the murmuring started. My mother, the Queen, stood up with a shocked expression on her face.
“So the doctor is the alpha's mate? What a surprising turn of events”
“No, this can't be accepted. Aurora is Isadora's sister, we already had a taste of that witch's rule, we don't want a repeat of that after all the same blood run in their veins”
“You are right. Isadora looked innocent at first like this too before she began showing her true colors later. I won't be surprised if Aurora turns out the same… they are family and blood is thicker than water”
“Besides, she already has a son for another man. She is not pure enough to be our Luna”
“We can't accept this, no we cannot”
“Ungrateful fools, if not her some of your family members would have been dead due to the plague. I wouldn't be this healthy to stand here. For us who have benefited greatly from her medical skills, we gladly approve of her as our Luna”
“Yes, it is befitting of her. We approve”

Conversations like this stemmed from the crowd, the people were divided in their opinion of if Aurora should be Luna or not.
I knew Aurora could hear them as well so I gently and subtly caressed her hands in a reassuring manner. The Luna crown is hers no matter what.
“Son, but she…” my mother was beginning to say but I cut her off because I already knew what she was thinking.
“Aurora contribution to the pack makes us fully indebted to her, we would never be able to compensate her for what she had done for us against the plague that terrorized for months and… ”
“Because we are indebted to her doesn't mean she should be Luna, are we going to give anyone who stands by the pack the position of Luna as compensation?” My mother interrupted.
“Let me finish, Mum. I understand everyone's hesitation but no one is befitting to be Luna as much as her and everyone will still come to know why” I paused, measuring everyone's gaze and making sure I have their attention before continuing, “Arne is my son” I dropped.
Everyone had shock on their faces and it was expected. “Yes, he is my son. Ten years ago, I had impregnated Aurora unknowingly and in a bid to protect our unborn son, she ran away from the pack and nurtured him all her own…” went ahead to narrate how Isadora and Keenan changed the letters and caused this big misunderstanding. “If you still doubt it then this inborn tattoo of the male offspring in the Alpha family is proof of that”
I raised my shirt and turned to show my tattoo, then I did the same for Arne. The same place and exact replicas.
Gasps and murmurs followed after the revelation. The queen quickly came forward and she touched Arne's tattoo in disbelief. Her eyes immediately watered, “My grandson… you are my grandson” she caressed Arne's cheek shakily before pulling him for a hug.
Seeing the queen act this way, the people realized it was 100% true and the discussion increased. I could tell the revelation had pulled more people to approve of Aurora.
“You also know that even though Aurora and Isadora are sisters, they are vastly different. They have always clashed and have opposite personalities. Isadora is dead now and she died in the hands of Aurora. This is what happened…”
I went ahead to narrate what has been happening since Arne was kidnapped and Isadora attacked. Apart from the people in the palace, most pack members were still unaware of what had happened. I had ordered for what transpired to be kept a secret so I could save it for this moment. It was worth it because after the narration. Everyone was surprised as they discussed heatedly amongst themselves.
Again, more pack members were converted to our side. I was pleased.
“I could have easily made her my Luna without all these. I am the alpha afterall and whatever I say goes. But no, I gathered you all so you could see that we are the ones in need of Aurora, not the other way around. And if we fail to accept the blessing of her, we will be the one at loss”
I paused to let my words sink in before I continued, “This is not all, one last revelation I want to make is, our son's blood was the cure against the plague” I dropped and everywhere went dead silent.
