Like all good things, our nice mini vacation came to an unexpected end. I received a mind link from my beta, letting me know they needed us back. I linked him back, telling him we would be there shortly and asking him to arrange for the omegas to come take down the equipment after we left. I grudgingly woke up my sleeping mate.
“Wake up Seleste. We have to get back.”
“So soon? I was enjoying our time.”
“Me too, baby. Beta just linked me. They need us back. It sounded urgent. I think it would be better if we ran back. The omegas will take care of everything and make sure all of our belongings get back to the pack house.”
“Ok my alpha, let’s head back.”
She jumps up, runs outside and shifts into Tamaska. Oh, my goddess. Tamaska is beautiful and majestic. She is the lightest silver I have ever seen. She almost looks like a shimmering white wolf. I will never tire of seeing her. Onyx is rushing me to let him out. He is ready to run with his mate.
“Hurry up human. You had your time with our mate, now it’s my time.”
“Ok Onyx, but remember, we have to get back, so no funny business.”
“Whatever.” Onyx says and pushes his way to the front. He is such an impatient wolf.
“I heard what you were thinking human”
I quickly shift, and Onyx walks up to Tamaska in all his midnight black glory. Onyx is taller than Tamaska, but only by a little. They are a perfect match. Onyx looks like the night sky and Tamaska looks like the moon itself shining in the night sky.
The two rub up against each other for a couple minutes before they take off running for the pack house. I knew Onyx was super fast, but Tamaska pushed him to his limit. I’m not sure we could have kept up with Tamaska if she didn’t want us to. My mate is awesome in every way possible.
After a short run, we arrived back at the pack house. I linked my beta and Talia to ask them to bring Seleste and me some clothes to change into. We shifted back to our skin, got dressed, and walked into my office. My parents, Warrior Peace and the twins, were already seated and waiting.
“This must be pretty serious if all of you are here this early in the morning.” I say to the group.
“We are sorry to bring you back early, son, but it seems that the dark lord is changing his attack plan, and the king wants us to go on the offensive soon.” My dad says.
“What happened daddy Dockson?” Seleste asked.
My dad’s eyes lit up when Seleste called him daddy.
‘Well, baby girl. The dark one has made his presence known. Him and a small group attacked a small coven that serve Queen LaDonna. This particular coven is very powerful and if he had been successful in getting them, this war would have become a lot more difficult.”
“You said if? Does that mean they were unsuccessful?” I asked.
“Yes. Queen LaDonna had already sent fortification to this coven. They figured this group would become a target. This group of magics has unique powers. They can change their appearance and the appearance of others. They also have powerful healing ability. The dark lord could have used their blood to make himself more powerful and disguise many of his followers.” My dad said. “The king and all the leaders have set up protection around all the small and powerful covens and the packs with special or elemental wolves. The king wants to have one last conference call with all of us, then he plans to strike.”
“It is about time.” Seleste says. “I may not want war, but I am tired of sitting back and waiting for them to pick us off one at a time. My team is ready.”
‘Dad, what time did the king want to meet?”
“We were just waiting for you and Seleste to get here. Beta Mason is going to dial us in now.”
We all seat around the conference table in front of the large screen as the video comes into focus. I see all the major players are linked in and additionally some young alphas and betas that I have not seen before.
“Greetings and welcome, everyone. I call this emergency meeting so that I can get everyone caught up without having to repeat myself several times. As you all can see, I have invited the recent graduates from the alpha academy. The young alphas and beta worked with Young Trevor to help develop our new defense system that has been set up around the kingdom. These young ones are some of the greatest strategists of the next generation.” The king says.
We all take a moment and greet each other.
“Males and females, we are officially at war. As you all have heard by now, the dark lord has moved against a small coven. We were able t defend it and save the members, but we know he will strike again soon. We have moved the members of that coven to a safe place that is protected. Only a handful of people know the location. I gathered all the allied species. They are ready and are waiting for us to make our move.” The king says.
“Since the dark one is more active, do we know where to find him now? Do we have his base of operation so we can cripple his network?” I asked.
“We will actually hit several locations simultaneously. We got a lot of information from Torrance on how the rebels works and the best place to strike. Of course, we sent people into the field to verify the information he provided. While I believe he wants revenge against his grandfather for lying to him and killing his mother, the dark one is his father, so I am still cautious of the information he is providing.”
“Your Majesty, will Torrance be taking part in the battle?” Seleste asked.
“He has asked for the opportunity to fight, but at this point, I do not intend to include him. If he continues to prove loyal and truthful, I will give him the opportunity to face his grandfather and father.”
“Your Majesty, when the goddess came to me, she told me we would not be able to kill the dark one, only trap him again. What is our plan for getting him into a position to trap him again?” Seleste asked.
“That’s where the moon warriors and the descendants of the moon warriors come in. You all will be together. There is a spell that you all can only activate through your blood combined and can only be used when you are all together and surrounding the dark lord. The good thing is that we don’t have to be in any specific physical location to trap him. We just have to surround him, activated the spells and say the chant together. I know it sounds simple, but remember, he and his followers will fight us and trying to prevent us from getting to him.”
“So, when are we planning to move?” Alpha Clark asked.
“We plan to move in the next 48 hours. We have intel that the dark one was planning to attack an isolated pack in 3 days. They are trying to build up their army. We figured he would begin with random attacks on small packs first to distract us and add to their numbers. What they don’t suspect is that we will attack them directly. So far in this war, we have only responded to them, but now we will take the fight to them and end this war. I’ll Let young Trevor tell you the plan.”
“As of now, we have the kingdom broken up into regions. Each region has at least one major pack and several midsize and smaller packs. Within the region are also several allied species groups. Over the last couple of weeks, the packs and the other supernaturals have been training together. We have all been learning how to combat magical and mental attacks. The larger packs will be used to stage the attack. We plan to have at least one person from the protector team in the different groups so that we can communicate with everyone at the same time since the protector team members can mindlink with any alpha in the kingdom. This will also free the king from having to mindlink all the alphas at the same time while he is engaging the dark one. Each one of my team will be at the different regions running point from the ground with the royal gamma. Seleste, you, the moon warriors and descendants and your inner protector’s team will meet at the royal castle in the next 24 hours to prepare the spell and learn the chant that is needed to trap the dark one. The bears and the magics will distribute the defensive equipment and weapons we will need to ward against the dark magic. As of today, everyone has received the supplements that the bears gave Seleste after her first kidnapping attempt to protect us against the drugs they are using. The bears made some improvement to the formula, so Seleste, you and your team will need a booster. Queen LaDonna will have it with her when she meets you all at the castle. As of right now, everyone should have received an electronic message with their orders and battle location. Are there any questions?” Young Trevor asked.
Looks like Young Trevor has really come into his own. He was precise in his instructions and presented it like a true leader. It is not often that a young alpha can command so much respect and authority around more mature alphas and in the presence of the alpha king.
“Thank you, Young Trevor. I suggest everyone take today and spend time with family, pack your war gear and get some rest. We don’t know how long this war will last or how often you will get the chance to rest and just be with your love ones. We will try to end this war as quickly as possible, but we also need to prepare for the long haul. The enemy we are facing is strong and powerful with dark magic. He is the originator of dark magic. The rebels following him have nothing to lose, so expect the battle to be brutal. I have no doubt that we will be successful.” The king said and ended the call.
The mood in the room was very sober after that. My mom arranged for breakfast and a cookout for lunch. This way, we all can spend time with our extended family. We offered the helicopters and jet to the warriors so they could go to their home packs and send the day with their immediate family, but all of them opted to stay at the pack and spend this time with their mates and comrades. This will be one of the first wars that mates will fight side by side. All of Seleste’s inner circle have mates that will fight together. They have trained together since mating and fight as one. All of them are lethal. I’m trying hard not to think about Seleste taking on the dark one, but I am glad that I will be there to watch her back and keep her safe. My parents will stay behind with the more seasoned warriors to protect the pack. Seleste’s parents will meet us at the castle. Like Seleste, they are descendants of a moon warrior. Their presence and blood will strengthen the spell. My father is having his blood drawn to contribute to the spell since he will not be present.
After eating, Seleste and I decided to just hang out in our room, relax, and watch movies. We will hang out with my parents after lunch while we wait for her other warriors to arrive this evening.
As we are relaxing on the couch, I feel the need to just let Seleste know that my time with her has been the greatest of my life. I understand she is my true mate, and we were always meant to be together.
“Seleste, I just want you to know that no matter what happens in this war, you have made my life worth living and gave me a reason the fight for our future. I want you to be careful out there and put yourself first. You have to survive no matter what. Onyx and I will do everything in our power, down to our last breath, to ensure that you and Tamaska make it home safely.”
“Jarvis, we will both make it back. The goddess said that together, you and I are almost unstoppable. I am immortal and you, being my mate, you share in that. The only way we can die is if we get our heads cut completely off and I don’t intend to allow that to happen, so if you were practicing your goodbye speech, save it. We are both coming home. We will both live a long and happy life until we decide to take our rest with the goddess.”
“Baby, anything can happen in war. I just want you to know that you are my life and I would give it to keep you alive. I would die to keep you safe.”
“Jarvis, I don’t want you to die for me. I want you to fight till the end to live for and with me. We still have a lot of life to live and things to accomplish.”
We spend the next couple hours relaxing and then head down to have lunch with the pack. My mom has set up tables, tents and benches for all of us to eat together. They lay the food out buffet style. We have meat upon meat to choose from. As werewolves, we need a lot of protein to build and keep our strength, so from here until the end of the war, we will be over loading on meat for all meals.
While Seleste and I were relaxing, her other warriors arrived. Warrior Peace greeting them and got them settled in the warrior housing. We want them to get comfortable, although they will only be here for a night on this trip. These rooms will be theirs when they rotate for protector duty after the war. Seleste’s inner team is with here permanently, but the other warriors rotate monthly.
Warrior Peace brings the new warriors to our table and, just as I thought, one of the female warriors is Mason’s mate. As soon as the group walked up to the table, Mason jumped over the table and grabbed this tall, amazingly muscular female warrior. It is a good thing she recognized Mason as her mate, or I have no doubt she would have put my beta on his ass.
Mason took his mate and sat her next to him. Warrior Peace introduced the rest of the Warriors to our group. Most of them were from Seleste’s old pack and Alpha Clark’s pack. There were also a couple of vampires and bears in the group. Most of them were in mate pairs. Mason’s mate was one of two unmated warriors in this group, and wouldn’t you know that the other unmated warrior found his mate right after Mason? The moon goddess definitely works in mysterious ways. Seleste told me that the moon goddess told her that as werewolves, we are stronger when we are connected to our mates.
“Congratulations Mason and Angelique. Mason, I know how long you have been waiting for your mate. Angelique, welcome to the family. I am so glad that in the last month, my pack has gained a luna and a beta female. The goddess has truly blessed us.”
The pack started cheering after I welcomed Angelique. We all finished eating and dismissed everyone to finish enjoying their time with their loved ones. As happy as I am for Mason, I also feel for him and the other new mates. They met today and will go into battle in the next two days. I say a special prayer to the goddess to keep them safe.
Diner was the same as lunch except the new mates elected to eat in their rooms to have more alone time. Seleste and I went for a run and let Onyx and Tamaska hang out with each other for a few hours. We gave them a chance to mate and strengthen their bond as wolves. I don’t know if it is possible, but I feel stronger after Tamaska and Onyx mated. It’s like as our bond strengthened, so did we. I asked Onyx if we were stronger, and he confirmed it. He also told me that the next time we shift, we will be bigger. The goddess is definitely positioning us to win this war.
