Chapter Thirty - Three

Chapter Thirty-Three

I did not think that many people could say that they were scared of a pair of eyes. So much so, that as soon as you saw them, it sent you into a frenzy.

Unfortunately, I could say that I have.

The moment my eyes met my brother's Ergor, I felt an electric shock go through my whole body. Like, somebody seriously electrified me.

There was a moment of realisation that I was seeing my brother in my classroom before I understood that he was not here for anything good. It hit me like a brick right then and there that he knew something. Something that made him want to come all the way from my home. Not a good sign.

Everything went in a slow-motion before all hell broke loose.

I didn't even realise what happened but I knew that without ever commanding my body, it scattered out of the chair. All the while it was shaking wildly. Not even realising how, but my feet carried me back and back into the corner.

From the corner of my eyes, I saw my professor walking up to him to stop him but could not. I also thought I heard our teacher ask Ergor to stop and ask who he was, but I could not tell for real. All the voices were blurred. All blood rushed into my head making everything fade into the background. The only thing I could focus on was my brother.

His bloodshot eyes held an undefining rage. The intensity of that rage made me realise that he had murder in his mind today. I was not getting out alive today.

Ergor moved with the speed of a snake, during which he swiftly pulled out his belt. Flashbacks ran through my vision of all the times I had been slashed with it by him and my father.

My teacher rushed to Ergor and put his hand on his shoulder to stop him, but before our teacher could do anything, Ergor spun around and punched him right on his nose. A crack sounded throughout the whole class and I realised that he just managed to break our professor's nose.

A gasp of shock escaped my mouth and I covered it with both hands. All I could do was just to stand in a corner, shaking violently and see the whole scene play out. Tears began pooling in my eyes but I was too scared to even let them fall. I could not even scream at the sight of it all.

My heart dropped into my stomach when I saw Ergor whirl around to face me. I watched in horror as he made his way toward me. There was no space for me to hide or run away, but I still kept searching frantically. I tapped the walls trying to find some space or a hole that I could escape from but could not find one. Even when I had flattened myself on the wall, I still pushed myself back, hoping that by some miracle the wall behind me would cave in and swallow me. It would have been way better than facing the wrath of my brother.

Two more guys from our class stepped in Ergor's way to stop him but he only smashed one of them with his leather belt and backhanded the other. For some reason, my gaze shifted from the scene to the corner of the class where I found a very smirking Blake, who was giving me his malicious smile. For a second, I was confused but then it all faded to nothing when I was snatched through my hair and pushed to the ground.

A scream echoed around the place that I soon recognised as my own. I hit head first on the ground and felt pain registering. I writhed for a second on the ground to gather my focus before I lifted my head. The moment I did that, a sharp slash of leather landed on my face. I let out a pained scream, my hand shooting up to the side of my face where it had been hit. A kick on my other hand had me letting out another scream. My hand left my slashed face and clutched where I had been hit on my arm. Instantly, another slash was made on my face, in the same place where I had just let go. Another scream.

I tried to crawl away but another slash had me stalling in my place. I turned away from Ergor and pulled myself into a ball position. Tucking my knees in and covering my face with my arms. I felt a big slash of leather on my back, making me let out another scream, but this time I did not move to secure the place. A big kick landed on my upper thigh and I felt the pain all the way to my spine. It was too much.

I anticipated another kick but it did not land. Taking a small, tiny chance, I pushed myself on my back and glanced up. Ergor was in the grip of Shirley, she had her skinny arm wrapped around his throat all the way. All the while, she was stabbing him with a pen. Ergor was trying to get her arms around the throat but Shirley's pen stabbing was distracting him, stopping his advances.

I crawled backwards, watching my brother getting stabbed in his ribs, chest and arms. I glance around frantically for something. The scene was so shocking that I didn't even notice Shirley was screaming something at me.

Through all my adrenaline running in my body, I tried to focus on what she was trying to say. Yet I could not understand. In the meantime, Ergor managed to get out of Shirley's grip. He grabbed her by her wrist and slapped her with all his strength. Shirley fell on one of the desks. By this time, our teacher and four guys jumped on Ergor and managed to pin him down.

I forced myself to stand on my wobbly legs and when I finally managed to do it, I finally heard what Shirley was saying to me.

"Viri, run. Run from here. Hide somewhere. Go away from here. Go." She said through all the yelling and struggle between my brother and everyone else. Watching her slumped where she had been thrown made me take a step toward her. But she merely shook her head. I wanted to help her.

"No. Get out of here. I'll be fine. Get out of here Viri. Go!" She ordered. My morals and logic fought with each other. In the midst of wanting to help her and following her advice, I stood torn for a few seconds. Then finally coming to a decision, I rushed out of there. Listening to her advice for the first time.
