Chapter 14: One of Three

Sortie’s First Night

“Pretty little one, you will never be able to beat us. There are too many of us and we have our full moon power. Why not become my toy? I will take care of you,” the leader cooed.

“I thought vampire’s hide on these night?” a voice whispers in the back ground.

“Shut up, idiot;” another replied.

“I want food,” a young one replied.

“Why do we not just take her and go to the village to get more?” a female voice murmured.

“Ah, that moon feels amazing does it not?” I ask as I snap my eyes to the leader who has taken his chance to close some of the distance to me.

“The moon boils our passion, lovely. Join us,” he pleaded with an out stretched hand. I smile shyly as I look up to his eyes. His rust color hair swayed in the breeze that skittered across the open patch we stood. His height towered me with his Adonis stature.

“Man, why is it that the crazy one are always beautiful at night?” I mumbled to myself, low enough no one could make out the words.

“I am sorry my Athena, I could not understand your words.”

“Oh, I said you must be crazy become you look so good;” I projected my voice for all.

“Then you must be as well for you make me loose my mind as you stand here like a lily under the beautiful moon.”

“HA HA HA HA HA! You are right I am,” the laughter erupted through my body. “You; old man, are a crazy smooth talking mutt.” A growl rumbled from the crowd as I bounced on the old man. Before he could tell his head how to react I had him pinned on the grown biting his neck sucking him dry. The crowd started to run, closing in to me. Releasing my grip from the limp body I flew into the air in a backward somersault. Speeding my thought process I took the time to handle my pistols by the time I planted my feet on a body in the back of the crowd. I shot through the head of 24 werewolf in the thirty second that it took them to realize that I was behind the crowd.

“You all look pathetic. I will kill you all by the end of the full moons. So run fast,” I sneered as some took this chance to escape.

“Ha, you think you can take all of us?” a female asked.

“Well… yes,” I smiled. Taking out my silver stakes after placing the guns where they belong I threw one at the new leaders heart. The force it hit her, going through and take out the two standing directly behind her. Breathing out a sigh as the mixed blood filled the air. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, wait are you guys multiplying? I swear I counted around thirty to begin with. I killed 28 of you and ten left like the yellers they are.” With out talking they jumped at me, using a few heads I walked out of the around with ease. One bite my calf causing my left leg throb as their venom began to swarm the wound. Using my right foot I snapped his neck with my kick out, removing the head on the return. Landing on the ground with a thud I could feel all the eyes brighten with the prey drive soaring. Using my last silver stake I extended it to two feet.

All of the wolfs came near to me as I used the wind to take oxygen from the air. A few fell immediately, while about a dozen wobbled towards me. Getting on my feet I ran towards the mass. Cutting a few head off as I worked my way through the crowd. Moving the wind to a higher speed I broke a few necks while ripping some skin off. When I was stabbing one of the female’s hearts I felt the stinging pain of a new venom filled bite grab hold on my shoulder. Screaming out in pain as I plunged the stake through the skull on my back. Another grabbed my forearm in it’s teeth, using my left hand I pushed my nails into it’s chest cavity moving it’s heart out it’s back. Eye’s wide in horror as I pulled my hand back and drained the blood directly from the stilled heart in my hand. The beast fell to it’s knees cold.

“That leaves you and me deary,” I announce before turning to look at the female standing there with pieces of flesh missing. “Slow and painful or quick?” I asked as her eyes locked with mine.

“I will take my leave,” she stammered as she started to back away from me in the middle of a blood field with bodies laying over each other.

“To late for that,” I state as I pounce onto her ripping her head clean off her neck. I stand straight up before falling over to my right side laughing. The pain coursing through my veins begged to take a slumber for a century or two but forcing my torso higher then my butt. Picking up a larger stick neck to me I use it as a can to stumble my way to a tree stump near the edge. “Well, I am glad I am immune to the venom,” I start talking to myself. “The pain just mean I am alive, right?” The moon allowed the stars to twinkle in response. “Willow will not be happy,” I say sighing as I climb up a tree that sat next to the stump I started to rest on. Reaching the top branches I start resting up until until the sun became too bright to ignore.

Sliding my butt down the trunk I start limping back to the old tree I left the duo at. Looking back behind me, I see the bodies of wolfs being scavenged by the local predictors and scavengers. A mountain lion looked me in the eyes as it started to pull it’s meal away with a nod of thanks. Facing forward I continue my trek to the meeting spot. The morning started to become later as my slow pace continued. Burning pain of the venom causing me to have lean on some trunks.

“If you came to kill me, whomever you are; please do. I am nothing more than a monster,” a voice pleaded out near by. I looked over to see C. J. covered head to toe in blood and puke. “I deserve pain, large amount. Please end my life any way you feel fit.” I stood behind him quietly listening to this fool sob. He sat up and started to look around him, so I whacked my walking stick against the base of his skull. “OWWWW,” he screamed as his hand jumped behind to land on his messy hair.

“I will kill you after you suffer,” I whispered on the wind which pushed into his ear. His eyes widen when he saw me leaning there.

“What the hell happen to you!” He screamed as he jumped to his feet rushing to me. I held my hand up to him as the smell came smashing me as a freight train.

“You reek,” I deadpanned.

“You are bleeding all over. What the hell Shorty!”

“Shut up, my head hurts.” I pushed my fingering into my temples.

“What did this?”

“Ghosts.”

“I am seriously worrying for you so stop being an idiot.”

“They are now,” I say plopping onto the ground.

“These look like wolf bites.”

“Duh.”

“Did their saliva in bed into the wounds?”

“Nah.”

“Liar.”

“Then do not ask dumb questions,” my back gave out and I fell on the wood’s floor.

“Willow!” C. J. yelled as my vision clouded.

“Blood.”

“You need some blood?” he asked as he leaned closer.

“You smell awful,” I turned my head from him.

“Drink my blood it will help.”

“No.”

“WILLOW!”

“I am fine.”

“IDIOT! WILLOW!” I heard Willow’s rushed steps as she quickened her steps. Dropping a bag of blood on my lips she started licking my wounds as the venom had stopped the clotting I needed.

“Take a bath already,” I said while looking at C. J.’s tearful eyes. ‘Idiot thinks I will die. HA!’ As I finished the first blood bag I sat up. I took off my jacket which caused C. J. to gasp. My bare skin showed years of scares from my many battles of supernatural hunting. The new one on my left shoulder was where Willow spent much times. It was the deepest. Glaring to the boy with wide eyes causing him to jump and run towards a river to the east. Willow continued in silence which comforted me. When the venom was gone my skin closed immediately. “Hard morning?” I asked.

“Why does killing so many supers cause ‘humans’ to feel remorse?” Willow asked as she tilted her head.

“You would not understand. The first time is the hardest but he will be fine. After all it is his nature, right?”

“That is why I can not under stand why it is hard to stomach.”

“How many?”

“Four.”

“What was left?”

“Parts of bones.”

“Worse then I thought.”

“How so?”

“Thank you Willow. I will take him with me tonight, I have a few wild dogs to hunt down.”

“Shall I continue with you?”

“No tonight you can hunt by your self. Tomorrow we will go as a group alright?”

“Alright,” Willow answered before turning and leaving towards the truck. I began walking towards the river using my time to approach. The nearer I got to the river the more of a deep soothing voice singing out to the morning birds. I stopped to listen to the song in a language I can not understand. Listening to the melody causing my body feel light as the wind danced a crossed my skin. My feet deciding to make decisions on their own brought me to the river bank.

Looking over to the other side C. J. sat there with a blank look over his face as his lids blocked all light from him. Animals had gathered around him listening to his beautiful voice.
