Then Constantine’s car arrived. He walked toward me. “So, has she told you she wanted to end everything? She wants me.”
“You lie! What potion did you give to her? Is it a stimulant like before?”
“No, I didn’t give her any potion.” Constantine laughed out loud. “But Helena loves me if you want it to be called a potion. So, maybe yes, it is a love potion.”
I wanted to punch Constantine right now. “I know you drugged her again. Have you no honor? You have already had Victoria. So why must you want Helena too?”
“Because I want both. Victoria is a mistress, while Helena will be my mate.” He smirked. “A mistress can’t bear my heir. So, Helena’s baby will be my heir.”
“No! She’s mine!” I growled.
“You haven’t talked with her yet. Otherwise, you will know she is unhappy with you. She wants to end your relationship. That is why she came to me.”
“You lie!”
“Really? Ask her!”
I turned my head to look at Helena. That was when Constantine crashed his body upon me. He hit my face, and I hit him back. We struggled to punch and hurt each other. That was when Constantine howled.
“No! Don’t shape-shift in front of Helena! She doesn’t know about our real identity.”
Constantine smirked. “Then it is a good chance to show it to her.”
In a second, Constantine changed himself into a brown wolf. I had no choice and transformed myself into a silver wolf. We bit and kicked each other for twenty minutes.
Finally, Helena ran and screamed, “Stop!” She should find a way to release herself from the locked car.
I bit Constantine’s neck, and he was bleeding immediately. Then he ran to his car, changing back into a human shape.
“It isn’t over yet, Ethan! Ask Helena the truth.” Then he left.
I stared at Helena. She froze, but her eyes stared at me without blinking. “E-Ethan?”
I did a shape-shift back to human form. I wore my shirt and trousers back, then held Helena’s hand. “Now you know.”
“You and Constantine are werewolves. Are Red and Ernie werewolves too?”
“Yes, we all are werewolves, my love.” Then I brought Helena back to the car.
I drove to the villa. Later, I lifted Helena into my chest and brought her inside the house. Ernie and Red ran to my room.
“Apologize for coming without knocking on the door, Alpha. Luna, are you alright?” Ernie approached me. “Beta Red and I were worried about you.”
“I’m okay, Ernie. Thank you.”
“Ernie, please prepare Luna’s bathwater and then the meals. After that, we all will have dinner together.”
“Yes, Alpha.” Ernie walked fast to the bathroom.
“Luna, I’m sorry I didn’t precisely do as you told me, but I was worried Lord Constantine would hurt you. So, I told our Alpha earlier,” Red said.
“You have done the right thing, Red. Don’t worry!” I nodded at Red. “Please wait in the dining room. I want to talk alone with our Luna.”
Red nodded. He glanced at Helena one more time, then walked away.
“Luna, the water is ready. I’m going to prepare dinner now.”
“Thank you, Ernie.” Helena waited until Ernie left the room, then she let out a sigh. “Constantine didn’t drug me. I came with my free will to him.”
“Why?”
“Because I want you to hate me. I want you to end our relationship.”
It stunned me. “What do you say?”
“I want to end our relationship.”
“Why?”
Helena walked to the bed, and then she sat on it while bending her head and hugging her knees. “If we are still together, you can’t find the witch. So, I should let you go.”
“But why did you come to Constantine?”
“Since he wants me, he offered me a marriage.”
It was like a slap to my face. So I took a deep breath, trying to calm my thin self-control. “So, if we end our relationship, will you marry Constantine?”
Helena shook her head. “No, I came to Constantine since it would be convincing. Besides, I don’t know another man who could help me.”
I knelt and grabbed her hands, then kissed each. “Helena, we had talked about this. I love you, Helena. You are my mate. Between us, there is a bond.” I kissed her hand again. “In the werewolf world, after having a mate, a werewolf won’t choose any other unless the mate is dead.”
“But if we stay together, how can you fall in love with the witch?”
I took a deep sigh and then sat next to Helena. “After rethinking it, I’m unsure that it’s true.”
“What do you mean?”
“I should tell you what happened on my travels to Crescent Island. I met a young woman who seduced me to have sex with her on the first trip, but I refused the woman. Then she changed herself into an older woman.” I shook my head. “Later, I saw a child in a burning house on the second trip. I saved him only to see him change himself into an older woman.”
“Was it the same woman you met on your first trip?”
I nodded. “Yes. Ruby Miranda.” I closed my eyes. “Maybe it’s the time for me to tell you the complete story. Eleven years ago, I was a playboy, and to shorten the story, I hurt Miranda’s sister, Cathy. Ruby was outraged with me and cursed me. Any mate I have will be dead after I have mated with them. A year after the curse, I met Lynnette. The next day after the marking ceremony and mating her, she was dead on my bed.”
“What did you do until Ruby cursed you?”
“I had sex with Cathy, Ruby’s sister, then left her just like that. I didn’t know that Cathy was pregnant because of me. If I knew, the story would be different. Then Cathy tried to abort the baby and died because of that.”
Helena cried. “If only you told me from the beginning, we didn’t need to go through all the dramas.”
“Because I was ashamed of my past. I don’t want to hurt you either since you won’t be hurt if you don’t know.”
“But the opposite happened. I thought you didn’t want me or didn’t find me attractive enough for a long time. Later, I thought Lynnette’s death had haunted you, or maybe you still loved her so much.”
“No, my love. I only want to protect you since I can’t lose you and can’t see you dead either because of me.”
