Chapter Werewolves and witches

Scarlett

Klaus clasped my arm and pulled my body closer to him and when I opened my mouth again, he put his index finger on my lips which clearly didn’t help me. I didn’t want to feel the sparks or mate bond but his small touch prevented me from moving

His fingers skimmed against my marking spot and my eyes fell shut due to overwhelming sensations.

“It’s… um, the golden hues…” he couldn’t figure out why my mark was glowing with his touch.

“Doctor Asher said that we had some history, a reincarnation thing,” I exemplified, sucking deep breaths to cool my nerves.

“Woah,” he exclaimed though never stopping his fingers from trailing his mark on my collarbone.

I pressed my lips hard not to make any sound, my body couldn’t stay still with his touch. My body had its own mind which refused to align with my heart and thoughts. As much as I hated seeing my body responding to his touch, I could feel the pain in my back lessening.

Sometimes I couldn’t help but wonder why the Moon Goddess made such things like making the person healer who was the cause of your pain. Why did she like to punish the she-wolf for her mate’s infidelity?

“I miss our mind-link connection, I can’t help but wonder what you think of me all the time. Do you still feel for me or not,” he mumbled before sighing. “All these things are driving me insane. It would have been better if you wouldn’t have saved my life. You wouldn’t be in this pain and would have found another mate by now.”

Before my brain could contemplate the consequences of my action, I had struck his cheek with a hard slap. Klaus didn’t say anything which was freaking me out.

‘Don’t panic. He won’t do anything to hurt you,’ the voice popped up in my head.

‘As if he hasn’t hurt me already,’ I rolled my eyes at her.

‘He hadn’t deliberately, there is something wrong with him. I can’t feel Todd with him,’ she retorted back.

‘Isn’t it ironic that you live inside my head but care more about him?’ I asked and she didn’t reply. I hated her for ignoring me every time like this. That bitchy Queen attitude of hers was annoying.

Involuntarily, I cupped his cheeks and made him look at me. “You’re not allowed to end your life. The whole pack relies on you now, you’re their Alpha.”

“Fuck them,” he cursed indignantly. “Why am I supposed to care about those fuckers who don’t care about their Alpha? How could they expect me to accept Amber and reject you, knowing all too well that the sacred mate bond is blessed by the Moon Goddess?”

I looked into his eyes and found the pain floating in his hazel eyes. A lock of his copper brown curly hair fell on his forehead and I tucked it aside before placing a soft kiss on his forehead.

“You’re like a father to your pack and a father never turns his back on his children even if the children aren’t obedient,” I tried my best to bestow some senses in his brain.

I caressed his neck and as my hand touched his marking spot, I felt a jolt of electricity running down my spine. I touched it again and it didn’t have any golden hue this time but I felt a harder shock which made me fly to the headboard of the bed. My head crushed against the headboard and I cried out in pain.

“Scarlett,” a worried scream escaped his lips.

The blurry visions of our older versions appeared across my mind which was strange because I never had any vision before and considering our diffused mind link, it was making me feel worried.

“Are you okay?” He asked, checking my head from the back.

“Call Layla. I need her,” I said abruptly, I had to know what it meant.

“If you’re hurt, your wolf will help you heal sooner, right?” Klaus inquired with a puzzled look in his hazel eyes. “Since you’re a lantern, I don’t know how it works for you.”

I shook my head as no and he cursed under his breath before leaving the room.

‘Hey, voice. Do you know what happened just now?’ I tried to reach out to her.

‘Recalling the memories,’ she replied very briefly.

‘Why didn’t his mark shine this time?’ I asked her back.

‘Because his wolf isn’t responding, it’s either too hurt or-’ she didn’t finish her words.

‘Or what? Will he also become wolfless like me?’ I asked but she was getting on my nerves, ignoring me again.

“Letty,” Layla’s voice brought me out of my woolgathering. “How are you feeling now? What happened?”

Klaus stood beside the doorstep as she pulled me into a warm embrace. “How are your scars now? Let me see,” she tried to remove my top but I grabbed her wrist and stopped her from doing so.

I gestured my eyes to Klaus and she looked back, completely unaware of his presence. “Will you please leave us alone for a while?”

“Nope,” he instantly replied, crossing his arms. “I don’t trust anyone with my mate.”

“I need to check her scars and she doesn’t feel comfortable under your Alpha gaze,” Layla argued with him and I couldn’t help but giggle.

If I had discovered anything about Alphas, it was that Alphas were stubborn as fuck, no one could make them do anything against their will.

“Fine, then. I won’t treat her,” Layla smirked.

“I have already called doctor Asher,” he reciprocated her smirk and winked at me.

I was kidnapped and locked in his quarters, I should have been worrying about escaping from here but there I was, enjoying this banter between Layla and Klaus. Maybe I didn’t want to leave at all, I wanted to know what happened that night.

If I wouldn’t have walked away that night, I could find out the truth. My heart wanted to believe Klaus. He couldn’t even think of hurting me, letting alone cheating on me.

“My scars are healing, Layla,” I broke the silence. “Do you remember how his mark glowed when I touched it the last time?”

She nodded yes, taking a seat beside me on my bed.

“It didn’t react when I touched it this time. Surprisingly, I was hit by the electricity when I touched his marking spot and slumped against the headboard,” I finished and noticed her annoyed expression turning to a puzzled one.

“His wolf is trying to reach out to you but he seems to be in trouble so he couldn’t and when he used all his strength to reach, it turned into an outburst of power,” she said, flickering her eyes back to Klaus and asking him, “can you feel your wolf inside you?”

Klaus shook his head in denial and walked to my bedside.

“How are you alive, then?” Layla indifferently questioned which made me jump in my seat.

“I’m not feeling him or the mind link with my mate. Perhaps he has shunned me,” Klaus tried to make sense of his own words.

Layla frowned at him. “He hasn’t shunned you, maybe he's hurt because you mated with another she-wolf rather than your mate. I wonder how you’re alright even if your wolf isn’t with you. You should have been feeling weakness, emotional outbursts, and dangerous wrath.”

"But I can feel the mind link with my family so it's just my wolf's sulky tantrums," Klaus shrugged.

She scowled and added, "it's not as simple as that. Your wolf might be under some influence."

“What do you mean?” We both asked in unison.

“Do you have any witch in your pack?” Layla questioned him.

“Nope. Why are you asking this?” Klaus asked, feeling uneasy.

Werewolves and Witches didn’t go along well so we were forbidden from entering each other’s realm. Whoever would break the rule could cause a war between the two species.

“Nothing. There is one way to bring your wolf back and affix your mind link with your mate,” Layla rolled her eyes. “Though you’ll need to ask your mate if she wants you back after what you did.”

His eyes locked with mine as if asking for permission but he never asked that and instead, started walking away.

“What will we need to do?” I asked Layla, peeking at his back as he was taking slow steps toward the door but halted in his steps, hearing my voice.

“Mating again. You both will snap your memories again but if you initiate the process of mating and leave it in the middle, it’ll be dangerous to both of you,” she warned, explaining the remedy.

I couldn’t help but wonder why the werewolves were so horny that everything stopped at mating.

“Remember that if you mate with someone else this time, you’ll be risking my d-,” she sighed before continuing, “Scarlett’s position in your life. I’ll make sure that she leaves this pathetic pack of yours,” Layla threatened him and he didn’t utter a single word but kept his gaze locked on me.

Layla left and he followed her out of the quarters.

I started freaking out as soon as they left, I wasn’t ready for this. I haven’t forgiven him for breaking my heart yet.

‘He needs you and you’ll also get to know the truth so the choice is yours,’ the voice in my head snapped before disappearing again.
