Chapter Pregnant

Klaus

To my surprise, Amber hadn't displayed her face this week. Though it didn't mean that I was content with my current situation.

I wanted her to respect the Moon Goddess's choice and leave me and wait for her true mate which seemed a tough task to get done.

'Get the fuck in the hall. Pack members won't like their Alpha coming late,' Marcus sent me the link.

Throwing my hoodie on, I opened Scarlett's room and found her already waiting for me. As much as I was craving to get a mind link with her, I didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable so I avoided talking about what Layla had suggested.

"It would be better to see you using your brain someday," she rolled her eyes and walked ahead of me.

"Why are you saying this?" I followed her back to my room.

"If someone is getting back to their work, they don't plan to escape so they deserve the freedom," Scarlett elaborated and I strangled a chuckle at her sarcasm.

"A little appreciation- you have good sarcasm and a witty mind," I winked at her. "On the other note, sometimes people use excuses to plan an escape."

Scarlett stopped in her way and spun to say something but then started walking ahead in silence.

It was a comfortable silence between us as we walked downstairs to the hallway though my hand was itching to hold her hand.

"You look gorgeous as ever but not with this arsehole," Marcus put a hand on his heart as if he was getting a heart attack.

I raised a brow at him and cleared my throat, getting no response from him.

"I agree with your last part," she replied and hugged Jenna who had tears in her eyes.

Marcus threw a smirk my way and I put on a tight-lipped smile.

"I'm glad that you're fine," Jenny whispered in my mate's ear but since I was the Alpha, my hearing powers were ten times more than the ordinary werewolves.

"Thanks to your herbs and medicines," Scarlett coyly said and pulled Jenny back. "My goodness. You're looking so pale."

Jenny peeked at me furiously before turning her gaze back to Scarlett. "Alpha didn't let me meet you so I was worried about you but now, I'm relieved to see you finally."

"Can you guys not make me a villain, please?" I grumbled.

"You didn't let any of us meet her and locked her in the room and you expect us to be fine with this?" Jenny asked coldly.

"I had a reason, Jenny and now, I don't want anyone to ridicule me about this," I ordered and grabbed Scarlett's hand to leave for the training.

My Gamma mate had decided to train the pack again and I was grateful for that. I had completely forgotten about the pack training in all the chaos.

"As my Alpha commands," Jenny bowed her head to me and left the home with Marcus.

As soon as we reached the pack ground, I created a channel in my mind linking with all the pack members and warned them, 'I want each one of you to pay respect to your pack trainer and my mate. If I find anyone mocking or humiliating my mate, I'll punish you for sure.'

I could sense their fear, sniff it in the air but when I sensed my parents coming toward the ground with Amber, I couldn't hide the frown welcoming my facial features.

"There you're, my impeccable son," my mom kissed my cheeks and Amber tried to follow her but I took a few steps back.

"Why are you guys here?" I asked in a low voice.

"For training, of course, honey," my mother replied enthusiastically.

"Wasn't it you who used to call it a stupid decision, huh?" I put my hands on my hips.

My father cleared his throat before saying, "enough of the conversation, now. Let's start the training."

The mischievous smile on Amber’s face had set me on the alert. She had planned something and I needed to protect my mate from her.

Scarlett had instructed everyone to make a pair and practice defense and attack.

“Why don’t you partner up with Amber, Klaus?” My father suggested and soon I realized that perhaps I needed to protect myself from my own family.

“I always pair up with Jenny,” I shortly made an excuse and nodded my head at my father who was ricocheting at me.

Amber giggled excitedly and suggested, “I’ll pair up with the trainer, then. It seems like we’re the only girls left alone so,” she shrugged before moving in Scarlett's direction.

“No need,” I muttered before taking my position for sparring with her. Amber turned back to meet my gaze and smirked.

“You lost your time, dear hubby,” she said and walked away.

“Why did you bring her along with you?” I asked my parents who ignored my question.

“Don’t force me to use my Alpha powers to command you and know the answers,” I warned them which immediately grabbed their attention.

My mother was the first to show her disapproval of my behavior. “I wonder if I raised you to get this treatment from you.”

“She is your wife so no one can stop her from going anywhere in this pack,” my father had cut the crap and told me the bitter truth.

“Don’t throw your emotional acts upon me, mom,” I coldly told her and turned my eyes to my father’s. “I’m not going to do what you did. Don’t expect me to be cool with what you guys made me do.”

I strutted away from them and kept an eye on Amber who was swiftly moving her body here and there, protecting herself very well from Scarlett’s pounce.

“Exchange the position, everyone,” my mate guided the pack members and everyone changed their positions in one go.

Amber grabbed the opportunity to lunge at Scarlett, a punch in my mate’s stomach and I was ready to rescue her when she looked at me and gestured to me to stay on a bay.

“What do you want?” I heard Amber asking from a good distance and for the first time, I thanked Goddess for making me an Alpha.

“Currently, I want to teach my opponent to be focused on what you’re doing,” Scarlett retorted and leaped in the air when Amber showered punches and kicks on her.

“I know that lesson already and I’m doing that already, ain’t I?” Amber moved her body from left to right to confuse Scarlett and started her sharp moves again. “What do you intend to do with my husband?”

Scarlett released a shaky breath. “You’re a good fighter, I must give you that.”

“I like to fight to get whatever I want and I never lose,” Amber told her in a dangerously low tone.

“You must win. Always.” Scarlett smiled at her and the practice went on with Amber using all her strength to attack and Scarlett taking advantage of her dainty body to dodge her plunges.

“Why don’t you reject him and leave this pack?” Amber suggested and earned a kick on the side of her hand.

Scarlett rolled her eyes. “I’m a prisoner here so I can’t and I make my life's decisions myself, not under a stranger's suborn."

“I have a brother and your attitude is exactly like an Alpha Queen should have,” Amber played her game of words while I tried my best to stay calm.

“Guess what, I’m not interested in forceful marriages or fighting for the boys, that’s below my standards and I fight only for myself,” Scarlett replied snidely and I could sense the air of tension there.

“Remember, you chose this,” Amber spat, landing a kick in her abdomen.

“I’m not interested in catfights, Amber. I don’t hate you,” Scarlett said but Amber had already made my mate fall to the floor and everyone stopped practicing and watched them fighting. “But I would love a werewolf fight.”

My mate jumped back to her feet and took her position back, holding her hands in the middle, ready to protect herself from Amber's attack.

“But I hate you, whore,” Amber smirked and walked away.

She had the same mischievous smile on her face, the one she had while entering the pack ground. Amber was up to something for sure, she wasn’t done yet.

She stopped just a few inches away from me and held her head in her hands before fainting. She stretched out her hand toward me and I held it to stop her from falling to the floor.

“Hey, are you okay?” Jenny came forward and held her hand to make her stand still.

“I’m feeling nauseous,” she winced and staggered, about to throw up on me so I left her hand and stood at a little distance.

“Oh, Goddess,” my mother jumped with joy. “You’re with a child now. You’re carrying the heir to this pack within you,” she finished and I couldn’t decipher what just happened.

“Are you insane? How can you assume this?” I reprimanded my mother. “I want Asher to examine her, Marcus.” He took his leave as soon as he heard my command.

Amber held her stomach and emptied her stomach on the ground, my mom patted her back whilst I composed myself to stand there and wait for Asher to tell me that she wasn’t pregnant.

Doctor Asher arrived in haste and checked her pulse. He was taking forever in checking her pulse when I was standing on the last thread of my patience.

“She is pregnant, Alpha,” Asher kept his head down while speaking.

“How could you say so just by checking the pulses? Run along some tests and do the proper examination,” my voice turned out to be louder than I had expected it to be.

I met Scarlett's eyes and saw her eyes glimmering with moistness and her face drained off the colors.
