“We don’t have enough room here, Alpha Klaus. I hope you don’t mind sharing a room with me,” Liam told me in a stiff voice, glowering at me. I knew that he wasn’t going to let me stay here easily, he was determined to make me run away from here.
If he was adamant about making my life hell here, I was intent on proving to him that I was not a coward whom he could scare away. I was determined to change his opinion of me.
“You’re going too far, Liam,” Scarlett objected, glaring at her brother as we walked upstairs. Catherine had offered Amber and her mother to come to the palace to live with her for a while till the crowning ceremony was done. Layla was also excited to stay with her friend after so long and I was pretty sure that they had a lot to catch up on.
“I have no problem with sharing a room with you,” I told her brother, looking him straight in his eyes.
His gaze hardened as he smirked. “That’s great. Let’s have a man-to-man talk, then,” he said coldly before looking at my mate who sulked.
“I will make sure to get revenge on you once you find your mate which I doubt that you have found already,” Letty smirked, wiggling her brows.
Liam grimaced and coughed, shooting a scolding glare at his sister. “Not all the mates you find are worthy to spend your whole life with them, Letty. You’re too young to understand this.” I didn’t like the way he looked at me while saying that to Scarlett.
‘Don’t mind him, baby. He can be the pain in the ass sometimes,’ Letty rolled her eyes.
‘Don’t worry about me, darling. Anything for you,’ I assured her, smiling at her.
“First, Harold and Samuel. And now, my own brother,” she frowned, looking at Liam. “I don’t know how many villains are yet to come between us, my love,” she sighed before standing on her tiptoe and pecking my lips in a deep kiss which I reciprocated happily.
Her sweetness that I was addicted to… Goddess, how much I had been tormented by not having her beside me.
“Ahem,” Liam cleared his throat before pulling her away from me by holding her arm. “Stay away from him. Eww. Don’t kiss him in front of me.”
“You can close your eyes. Besides, I won’t if you won’t keep him in your room. He can stay with me in my room, you know,” she shrugged.
“Go to your room, now,” he pointed to the room next to his. “You have become so shameless after staying away from home for this long.”
Her face paled as she glanced at the door of her room and turned back to look at us. “Where are Mom and Dad?”
“Alpha is sick so they have been staying there since the last few days. They didn’t know about your mother or your arrival. I will inform them tomorrow in the morning so they will come back home,” Liam replied hesitantly.
“Is uncle doing okay now?” She asked with concern.
Liam nodded. “I wasn’t sure if you would accept us as your family now so I didn’t call them before.”
“You’re such a dumbass,” my mate scowled and shut her door. Liam opened his door and I went inside to find only one bed there. I wasn’t comfortable sharing a bed with anyone, not even any male. I had never liked to share my bed with anyone, I had shared my bed with Scarlett only.
The things I had to do for my love…
Todd chuckled at me, relishing in my awkwardness and frustration.
“Tell me your intentions with my sister,” Liam shot before I could even have a sit. He crossed his arms, demanding an answer from me.
“I want to marry her, have pups with her, and spend the rest of my life with her. I know that my past mistakes can’t be forgiven and I have hurt her more than anyone else but please, give me a chance and I will make sure that you will never regret it. I love her,” I gulped as I felt my mouth going dry and my eyes getting teary. “I love her more than everything and everyone. I can’t and don’t even want to live without her. I understand your concern as her elder brother because I have a younger sister, too, and I wouldn’t give her away to anyone without even knowing that bloody man.”
“What makes you think that I will trust your fake promises?” Liam shrugged, passing me a disgusting look.
Had anyone else done that, I would have felt offended but I knew that I deserved worse than that for hurting her.
“And how could you fucking marry another woman after finding your mate if you loved your mate?” He questioned again, not waiting for my response.
Heaving an exasperated sigh, I explained to him everything about my family’s situation, Amber’s family’s wicked threats and demands, and how Alpha King forced me to marry his daughter.
“I had heard that the witch was head over heels for you,” his voice dripped venom as he shot me a murderous glance.
“She had taken my kindness as love but she realized later that we were not made for each other and it wasn’t love,” I shrugged, telling him honestly.
His expression softened as he gave me a half smile. His interrogating wasn’t done yet, I could tell from his eyes.
“Will you be loyal to my sister forever? I hate the Alphas who cheat on their wives,” he snorted.
“I second to that,” I nodded curtly. “It’s embarrassing but I have to tell you this to gain your trust,” I looked at the wall and added, “I was a virgin before Scarlett’s heat and she will be my last, too.”
“You gotta be kidding me. You were saving yourself for your mate,” his eyes widened, he didn’t expect that.
I couldn’t bring myself to utter anything so I just nodded my head. It was awkward to admit it and I could see a smile forming on the corners of his lips.
“If you ever dared to bring a single tear to her eye and she got hurt, that will be your last day on the earth,” he threatened me, pointing a finger at me. “Now, go to her room. She won’t be able to sleep alone in that room,” his voice sounded gloomy as he mentioned her room and I presumed that it was because of his other sister with whom my mate probably shared that room.
“Thank you so much for taking care of her for all these years and raising her and protecting her. It must be hard for you to give her away but I promise you that I will take care of her and you’re most welcome to visit my pack anytime,” I bowed to him out of respect.
“Go away now before I change my mind,” Liam shouted. “You don’t understand my pain, Klaus. May Goddess give your sister her mate soon so you feel what I’m feeling right now.”
His voice was almost a sob, all the coldness had vanished.
“I will be happy if her mate loved her the way I love mine,” I smirked and walked away from him.
I opened her door which was luckily unlocked. Letty was standing beside a small library, holding a photo frame in her hand. She turned to look at me and wiped her tears off immediately, putting the frame back on the desk and gazing at the books, pretending to think of choosing to read one of them.
“Don’t tell me that you escaped from my brother’s room after he slept like a pig,” she giggled, hiding her pain which hurt me more.
Without saying anything, I embraced her from behind and inhaled her sweet intoxicating chocolate and berry scent. “Don’t hide your pain and tears from me, baby. The day I saw you naked, you lost the right to hide anything from me.”
“I’m missing her so much,” she started sobbing and I made her turn in my arms so I could make her look at me.
“She would have been so proud of you for the Queen you have become. I’m sure that she must be happy to see you finally getting everything that belongs to you,” I said to her, cupping her cheeks and then, trailing her tears with my tongue.
“Rhea called me Queen and now, it makes sense,” my sweetheart whispered, blinking back her tears.
“Even if you wouldn’t be a Lycan Queen, you would have been my Queen, Your Highness,” I promised her, and she pressed her lips against mine.
I got a call from Marcus so I had to break the kiss. Fucking bastard.
