Chapter 46

I was in a bed of flowers, lying down with my hands spread. I don't know, but it felt as if a huge weight had been removed from me. I could no longer feel those earthly things that were binding me.

I felt a droplet of water fall on my face, and before I could blink, it was falling in large amounts. Something or someone was shaking me. I stood up and looked up, but there was no one there.

I was still in the large field of flowers. "Luna! Luna!" I heard a voice calling out. But I couldn't place the voice.

"Why did you hit her? She could die!" The voice continued.

"I thought you said you hated her, why do you care if she dies?"

"I know, but you shouldn't have hit her. I want to kill her myself. Besides, she is powerless already. There is nothing she can do."

I felt another stinging pain on my cheeks and another one again. I glitched from where I was.

I could feel my spirit returning to me, and I blink my eyes, using my hands to weakly shield it from the rays of light as I wake up. A massive headache greeted me as I arrived, and I held my head, trying to alleviate the pain, but I was met with dried blood.

I can't even count the number of times I have woken up in pain, and I am tired of that. Every joint in my body was on fire, and I noticed blood stains on my dress.

I was lying down on the floor; no, on the mat. My face and hair were dripping water, and I was shivering from the cold. My legs were still tied, but this time around, my hands were bound with a handcuff. I wonder where she got that.

Anna and her mate were peeping down on me, their eyebrows furrowed in worry. "You are finally awake." She said this as she collapsed and lay on her back, panting heavily. "You gave me quite a scare. Go get her something to eat from the car and be fast about that." He left, shutting the door and leaving the two of us behind.

But I wasn’t in the mood for jokes. I was out for blood. I could faintly feel Kiayra, although she still seemed far. But it gave me hope, that means she was waking up from her slumber.

I pounced on her, hitting her in the face with my head. Shit! The warriors back home always made it seem easy, but in reality, it hurts like a bitch! I didn’t give her time to react before I hooked the cuffs on her neck and twisted it, choking her.

She clawed at my hands, desperately trying to free herself, but I continued choking her. "You bitch," her mate said from behind, pushing me away. "Do you have a death wish?"

"Fucking blackie. You don’t like your life, uh? I fucking saved you, and you did this?" Anna yelled.

"You are dead meat, Anna. I will kill you for all that you have done. You don’t deserve to live." I felt a stabbing pain in my stomach, and I growled and coughed, spitting out blood. Someone had stepped on my stomach. With great pain, I turned to look at the culprit, and it was Anna.

She raised her legs to step on me again, and I invaded it, rolling to my other side. "I will kill you and your useless child. If Richard doesn’t want me, I will make sure you are in no condition for him to want you." She was seething in her mouth, foaming, her eyes wide with rage. There was a murderous intent in those eyes, and she looked like she might kill me because she appeared crazed.

Shit! I needed to escape from here, or they would kill me. "Hold her down," she commanded. I screamed as I started crawling as fast as my legs could carry me, trying to make it to the door.

But I was bound, so no matter how fast I crawled, he caught up to me. I tried to push him away with my legs, but he kicked them away and grabbed me by my hair. I howled, tears dripping from my eyes in fat droplets. I screamed out my frustration as he began to drag me to her, the floor bruising my skin. I prayed for someone to help me, for anyone to save me from this misery.

"You think you can escape me, right?" She held up my chin, but I spat on her. She just laughed and used her hands to take the sputum and lick it, laughing like a maniac. "I never knew blood could taste so sweet. I have never killed someone before; heck, I wasn’t planning to kill you. But you provoked me, and you have to face the consequences. I will enjoy killing you, starting with that bastard in your stomach," she said, pointing to my stomach.

I curled into myself, using my hands to shield my stomach. "Die bitch." She yelled as she dropped her legs on my stomach. I screamed out, the pain robbing me of any rational thought. She raised her legs again, and it landed just on my stomach. She continued raining kicks on my stomach, and I tried to focus on something other than the pain.

I could feel the cord that binds us as mother and child slowly dissipating, the chain losing strength and tearing away, fading into existence. I tried to listen to his heartbeat, but I don’t have supernatural hearing again, so I couldn’t hear it. I felt my stomach for any signs of life. I could feel his heartbeat, but it was very weak. It was beginning to slow down. I kept my hands on my stomach, the heartbeat reassuring me. Then the chain was abruptly severed, and all was quiet.

I couldn’t feel my son again.

My spirit left me, it was like I was floating in a weird subspace. Is this how I am going to die? No! I refused to die like this. . I managed to open my eyes with the last of my strength, looked down, and saw that blood was pouring out of me at an alarming rate, making all of my clothes soaked. I screamed out my grief over the loss of my son.

"Kiayra!" I screamed out with all my strength as I prayed to the moon goddess to give me strength. Whenever a female wolf is pregnant, she can't shift. The Moon Goddess did it that way so the child wouldn’t be harmed. Shifting requires our bones to break and realign, so it could be quite dangerous for the unborn child in the stomach. But I am no longer pregnant, so I could care less.

"Kiayra! I need you!" I began to shake violently, my body spasming.

"What is happening to her?" Will, her mate, asked in fear, inching away from me.

"I don’t know." But I could tell she knew I was about to shift. "Stop her! Hold her down. Don’t let her change."

"KIAYRA!!" I screamed with all I had, even with a bleeding mouth. I began to shake uncontrollably; there was no stopping it again. I was shifting. My right leg bent in an unnatural way, the bones breaking, followed by the left, and so on. My bones broke and realigned till, in my place, stood a brown wolf with blood on her fur.

The strange thing was that I was in my wolf form, but I was the one in control, not Kiayra. I suspected that she hadn’t woken up from her slumber. But I shook that thought away. I have something to deal with.

The man staggered back, almost stumbling on his feet as he looked at me. "What the hell is happening? What is this, Anna? Did you know?" He looked at his mate, who was too shocked to answer.

I began approaching him with a single goal in mind. Blood! I wanted their blood. The man's fear was so strong that I could taste it in my mouth, and it made me smile. I sniffed the air, and when I perceived a pungent smell, I knew he had urinated on himself.

I smiled before I jumped on him, my teeth grabbing his throat and biting into his life force, tearing it out. I chew it, recoiling at the awful taste, before spitting it out in front of her.

Anna had shifted into her white wolf, and she was coming to me. But she couldn’t stand me; I am of Alpha blood and she is just a mere wolf. I towered over her and was better than her in every aspect. She jumped on me, but I ducked and grabbed her scruff.

I shook her before flinging her away. I didn’t give her a chance to breathe before tearing into her face, making sure she was unrecognizable. I looked down at her remains, satisfied with my work. She didn’t deserve the quick death I gave her, but I couldn’t delay. I was living on borrowed time.

Then it hits me. I staggered back, hacking up blood, and I collapsed, the pain finally leaving me.
