"What about when Alix is in school? Or do we have to change her school too?" She directed her question at Keith.
Keith shook his head, "I'll have security take her to school and bring her back. She'll be watched over everytime she's not in the house."
Donna nodded but still hesitated and she crossed her arms, "Wouldn't that be too much though? I fear it'll attract a lot of unnecessary attention."
Keith smiled and came closer to her, "She'll be safe Donna, I guarantee it."
"And I trust you Keith, really, but..." Donna bit her lower lip in contemplation, she looked at her mother who seemed more eager to leave for Keith's place and a frown came to her face, it lasted a few seconds before it vanished and she lifted her hands in surrender, "Fine. Let's do it then."
In all her years of service to Ortho Speare and to Keith Preston, she had never been to his place - well, not intentionally - Keith never told her to and she never had a reason that would prompt her to go to his residence. She never even knew the place.
The only time she remembered being here was after the little drama that happened with the police at Alix's school which had led to her arrest, Keith had bailed her out and brought her here.
Now as they pulled up to his driveway, both Donna's mum and Alix stared on in marvel. His place was massive, and it wasn't just about the house, this place could only be described as a castle with acres of land surrounding it.
Donna never really had the time to admire the place the last time because she had not been conscious when she was being brought in, and she had been in too much of a hurry when she had been leaving.
"Wow," Alix exclaimed as her grand mother helped her out of the car. Keith had driven ahead while Donna drover her family in her car behind him. All through the journey, she still contemplated moving in with Keith, though it was only going to be temporary, still she could not help but feel weird about it.
"Nice, isn't it?" Her grand mother asked her as she marveled herself. Little Alix nodded her head hard.
"Might be a bit too much," Donna said with a smirk as she approached Keith who chuckled at her statement.
"I'm Keith Preston of the Ortho Speare, come on Donnie, my living space has to live up to the name at least," he laughed.
"There. That's pride right there," she chuckled, pointing a finger to his chest.
Keith took in a deep breath before he replied to her with a wide grin, "Of course."
The outside of the house, it's architecture and surrounding looked like it may have been built a hundred years ago, but the inside was a brand new taste and was completely different from how one would have pictured it from the outside.
Everything was neat, everything was glittering and there was no way he lived alone and still kept this place like this.
"You have servants?" She asked as he ushered them into the overly large living space.
"Yes I do," he replied to her and turned to face them, "Some live out back, a few distance away but still on the property."
Donna nodded and looked around, "Because there was no way you could keep this place as it is all by yourself."
Keith chuckled, "I'll be the one to show you to your rooms, the servants don't come until later in the evening. Can Alix sleep alone?"
"No!" Donna was quick to answer, snatching Alix to her side. When she realized her tone had been harsh and a little loud, she forced a smile, "Sorry, she will have to be with me in the same room. The house is bigger, she'll be more further away if she stayed in a different room."
Keith smiled and nodded his head. He wasn't upset, "That's fine, not a problem. Come upstairs then."
He showed them to their respective rooms, Donna and her daughter's room was right opposite Keith's, separated by a mini living room. Her mother's room was just after hers, a little distance down the hall.
Donna couldn't help the smile that played on her face as she watched Keith host them, he was extra patient with Alix and her numerous questions and she liked that. Never would she had thought Keith to be into children, this side of him was one she had never gotten to see and although it did feel weird, she enjoyed it.
"Never could have guessed that you'd be so good with handling kids," Donna commented as they walked downstairs to the kitchen. Alix had complained of hunger and Keith had offered to fix them something to eat, "It doesn't look like something you'd enjoy doing."
Keith chuckled, "I've had the experience is raising some."
Donna rose her eyebrows in alarm, "Some? You have kids?"
"What? No!" Keith laughed as they walked into the kitchen, "I just... have experience, that's all."
He could not tell her that as Alpha, he had raised cubs, and he had raised his sister too.
"And you know how to cook?" She asked him as she watched him get prepared.
He nodded, "This one, I had to learn."
Donna laughed, "Keith Preston, what don't you know how to do?"
A smile came to his lips, "I don't know how to let you go," he had replied to her but only in his head as thoughts. He watched her laugh and it made his heart warm.
He would not say it but living in his large house had been lonely for most days. He had already gotten used to it, but having Donna and her family here living with him brought back memories. Fond memories of when his sister used to bobble about the place. He had thought her a nuisance then but he would do anything to have her bobble around and disturb again.
He smiled sadly as Donna continued to laugh. Hopefully, he could keep them here for a very, very long time.
