She had driven back home in a hurry, so angry that she wanted to just blow up, so she had remained in the car for close to ten minutes after she parked the car in the drive way.
"Cheryl, Cheryl, Cheryl," she said, repeatedly and gritted her teeth. She hated he audacity of that woman, but she was sure that if Cheryl crossed her, she would definitely end her. And this was not a decision she would need to think twice about.
She let out a long breath and stepped out of the car, but paused when she closed the car door, recalling what had happened at the Xiu residence. Had she accidentally told Jeremy he had a daughter with her?
Yes she had.
"Fuck!" She cursed. She just prayed he would not dig into it, but knowing the kind of person Jeremy was, he just might. And if he did, it would tear open a new package of drama, what if he came demanding to see her? What if he came to claim her? What would Keith think if he found out who the father of her child was?
All these different thoughts flooded her mind and worry began to fill her head and her heart. If Cheryl had just stayed clear of her, she saw no reason why she should be intertwined with the Xiu family again. Once again, her problem was wrapped around the same woman as it had been six years ago, the same Cheryl Declan Xiu.
The more Donna thought of her, the more her hatred for the woman grew and she wondered how one person could have all the bad qualities ever discovered of the human nature in her.
"A vampire?" She questioned herself, deep in thoughts, "How?"
She knew the popular myth of vampires being unable to walk in the sun was a lie, although their allergy to garlic might be a thing but it wasn't exactly that one garlic clove could kill them instantly. Vampires response to their garlic allergy was just as similar as humans would respond to the same allergy differently.
It could be mild, it could be severe, it could be fatal, but they all had allergy to garlic.
As she thought of this, she considered sending Cheryl a whole box of garlic, or garlic scented flowers or something, but if she did -and if Cheryl was smart enough - she might realize that Donna now knew of what she was and that might endanger her even more.
Cheryl was after all a sick psycho.
She shook her head to clear the thoughts, hating to think about it and be reminded of the woman before she walked into the house.
"Mum? I'm back," she announced after she shut the door, taking off her shoes by the entrance.
"Donna!"
She was startled by the deep, familiar voice that called out her name loudly and she looked up just in time to see Keith coming towards her before he seized her wrist and pulled her into his embrace.
Donna fell into his chest, shocked and surprised as he wrapped his hand around her.
"Keith?"
"Are you okay, Donnie?" He pulled away from the embrace and grabbed her by the shoulders, staring deep into her eyes in genuine concern.
"I... am? What are you doing here?" She asked him.
"You do the reckless things Donnie," he said to her, still holding her by the shoulders. He had to bend a little so his eyes was in line with hers, "How could you chase the kidnappers? What if they had ridden to their hide out? Then it would have been the two of you in their custody."
Donna frowned and shook his hands off her shoulders, "So what would you rather I do? Sit back and pray? They had my daughter, Keith. My daughter! I'd rather they have the two of us than just her. Alone."
Keith sighed to calm down, "I know, I understand, but still, that was very very risky. I need you to understand that."
Donna fixed her eyes on his, "They had my daughter, I need you to understand that." She said and brushed past him in anger.
"Mum!" She called out.
"Coming darling," came her mother's reply from inside, "Almost done packing."
Donna frowned slightly in confusion, "Packing? What for?"
She watched as her mother wheeled out two huge suitcases into the living room. She stopped in front of her and looked up at her with a huge smile on her face.
"What's all this?" Donna asked her.
"I'm moving your family to my place," Keith said to her. He faced her now with a serious look on his face.
Donna turned to him, "And why would you do that?"
Keith frowned slightly and pointed a finger towards the television which was still airing news about the kidnap and the chase, "Do I need to emphasize?"
Donna shook her head and waved a hand in the air, "That will not be necessary, moving to your place that is. It..."
"Donna, this is not up for discussion," Keith said to her firmly.
"This is my family!" She fired back at him.
"Donna!" Her mother called out to her in caution.
Donna turned now to face her mother, "How could you agree to this mum?"
"How could I not darling?" He mum asked her, gently caressing her shoulder, "In the past few weeks, we have been targeted and attacked, and every one of them has been targeted at Alix, don't you fear for her safety?"
"I do, but this?"
"It's only temporary Donna, relax child. You know we need the security and safety he provides."
Donna leaned in closer to her mum, "He's my boss mum. How are we supposed to live with him?"
"He has no problem with you and your family moving in with him," Keith replied to her and Donna faced him.
Donna opened her mouth to protest but when she saw Keith's deviant pose and look, and her mother's readiness to leave, she just let out a sigh and nodded. To think of it, Keith's place would be more secured than her house was, Cheryl wouldn't even think of trying to break in. But...
