Henry shook his head and chuckled at the same time "They won't, Samantha bear, please save me; I'm starving to death. Let's get dressed and head out to dine as soon as possible." He pleaded with me to let him pull me up. I rolled my eyes, but I gave in and let him pull me up and lead me to the bathroom so that I could take a shower. I just couldn't say no to that face.
After an hour and a half had passed, I got out of Henry's car at the school parking lot. I was there. As others turned their attention to us, I did my best to maintain a firm grip on his hand. It turns out that I was right, the cheerleaders, especially Miley, gave off the impression that they intended to murder me. As Henry led me towards the building, I couldn't help but grumble.
"Holy hell, look at the looks on their faces!" I said in a low whisper as we passed a group of females who were staring at us. As we moved past the other people, Henry laughed and placed his lips to mine, which instantly made me feel better. Why does he taste so damn good?
The first place we went was to the office. When we stepped in, the woman greeted us with a cheery "Hey, Henry, Samantha!" and a friendly grin.
"Dear Mrs. Stevens, good morning. Samantha and I have moved, and there are some fresh developments to share." Henry boasted as he took the letter from the agent, which featured his address and other information on the front of the document.
"Have you moved to a new address?" She inquired as she went to the filing cabinets behind her, retrieved Henry's file from the drawer labeled "P," and then went to the one labeled "T" to retrieve mine.
"Yeah, and so do I; my name has also changed." I said scanning my file.
She questioned my sanity by asking, "New name?" while giving me the eye.
"Yeah, Henry and I ought to be filed together now, both under P," the speaker said. I said beaming and biting my lip.
She chuckled and said, "Honey, I'm lost."
"We got married." Henry smiled broadly as he pulled me closer to his side while he spoke triumphantly.
The natural smile that had been on her face vanished. "You're kidding me."
I gave her a puzzled look before bending over her desk to retrieve the "change of information" form from the stack of documents that she had just finished organizing. "Not joking." I affirmed this while beaming with joy.
I sat back and listened to Henry tell her everything there was to know about it as I entered all of our new information into the appropriate boxes. It was so much fun acting out the role of Mrs. Williams and identifying my next of kin as Henry on the form. It was a pleasant experience; in fact, I had to invent a signature in order to put it at the bottom of the form.
"Oh man, I really need to have gotten some experience under my belt before I signed this. This signature is a complete disaster." I said while giving it a very small condescending air.
Henry pretended to be shocked as he laughed and questioned, "You mean you haven't been signing Samantha Williams on your notebooks since first grade like all of the other girls?"
"I'm sorry sweetie, but there was just something about you that I wasn't feeling then." I said winking at him making him chuckle.
"Well I'm pleased I do it for you now." While the receptionist was entering all of the information into the computer, he flashed a sly grin in my direction.
As she photocopied our marriage certificate for the file, she said while shaking her head, still seeming a little perplexed, "Ok well all done then Mr. and Mrs. Williams."
"You're the best, thankyou." Henry remarked as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and led me out into the corridor. "Come on," he added.
Susan was seen standing outside the office, leaning against the wall, and chatting it up with Jerry. Jerry was looking very interested. She flashed a grin as we left the room, "Hello there, you two. You guys finally managed to drag yourselves away from that new apartment, didn't you?" She made a suggestive motion with her eyebrows, which caused me to turn a shade of pink.
"It was challenging, but I suppose we had to do it." I responded with laughter.
Someone yelled out in a loud voice, "Heads up!" Henry acrobatically leapt into the air and caught a football that appeared to have materialized out of thin air. Holy hell, that's hot!
Someone yelled "Sorry!" as they ran over to Henry and smacked him on the back of the shoulder.
"No problem Travis. Because the throw was so bad, maybe you should work on improving your arm strength." Henry said while making a smirking face and tilting his head to the side.
I rolled my eyes because, if he was going to talk about football, then it was time for me to leave this place! "I'll see you later, baby, all right?" I explained that I was going to put my arm in Susan's and kiss Henry on the cheek before heading down the hallway.
The morning went well, although the teachers seemed a bit taken aback when I informed them all about my new name. However, they forgot it most of the time and continued to refer to me as Miss Thomas. Because it would take some time for me to get acclimated to my new name, I had little reason to be angry with a teacher who didn't appear to believe me in the first place.
Everyone in the school had watched the video of our wedding, so throughout lunchtime it was all anyone could talk about was how it went and what it was like. Thankfully, the unauthorised video of the first dance was never made public. Thank heavens.
The other women were fawning about my jewelry, and Susan described in minute detail how Henry proposed to me. Because she was drunk that night as well, I have no idea how she managed to remember what happened. I assumed that being the focus of attention would bother me, but instead, I found that I was able to sit there with a proud smile on my face the entire time. I wanted everyone to know how glad I was to be Henry's wife since I was so happy about our marriage.
After the bell that indicated the end of lunch rang, Henry took me to study hall and kissed me lightly on the outside of the door before leaving, most likely making himself late for class. While he was moving my hair away from my face, he mumbled the words "I love you" against my lips.
The same goes for you, Henry. I hushed him, and he looked at me, smiled, and then turned and dashed off in the direction of the locker rooms to change for gym.
I let out a long, contented sigh, waited until he was no more in sight, and then made my way to a desk in the rear of the room, where I took out the English homework I had received this morning. A few minutes later, I was startled as the chair next to mine scraped back against the floor.
When I looked up, there was a guy I didn't recognize sitting down next to me. He had dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, and he was rather handsome, in my opinion. Susan would absolutely agree that he was hot, and there's a chance that he could even give Jerry a run for his money.
He showed a grin. "Hey, my name is Andy Sanders, and I'm new around these parts."
Samantha Williams is her name. I said nodding. What in the name of hell is he doing sitting here with me? When there is barely anyone else in the room, why did he insist on sitting right next to me?
He asked me this while pointing to my cast and asking, "So how did you break your arm?"
I gave an uncomfortable smile and said, "Bang it on a wall." I responded by nodding slowly while moving my attention back to the English essay I was working on.
"That is terrible. Did it hurt? I've never broken anything before."
"Yeah, it freaking killed, but it's ok now; actually, the cast is the only thing that's unpleasant about it." I admitted.
"I'll bet. So, Samantha Williams, does being a part of the cast prevent you from going on dates and doing other things? "he asked grinning at me.
The instructor screamed at the students from the front of the room, "Study hall is not for socializing; it is for learning!"
I gave her a grateful grin and went back to working on my thesis; the remainder of the hour passed without any further interaction between us. It's a good thing I didn't have to say no to the new guy because I dislike saying no to people. It's not really his fault that he didn't know I was seeing Henry; in fact, if Henry was a newcomer, it's likely that he wasn't even familiar with the name Henry.
As soon as the bell rang, I hastily packed up all of my belongings. "Hello, I was wondering if you could possibly tell me the way to room 401. The period after that is my French class." Andy inquired while looking at me with anticipation.
"Uh, yeah, that's right, I have it too, so you may come with me." I hastily gathered the last of my belongings and hurried out the door, with him following closely behind me.
He smirked at me and asked, "So you never answered my question before, does the cast limit you from going out on dates and stuff?" I had been avoiding his inquiry.
Oh, my god. I shifted uneasily in my seat and opened my mouth to tell him that I was deeply in love with my husband but that I appreciated the offer. However, before I could finish my sentence, I heard someone else shout my name.
I was so relieved that I let out a big sigh of relief as I turned to face the source of the voice. It was Susan all along. She was approaching me slowly while smiling seductively and taking in the new guy that I was with as she did so.
"Hey, Rach, excuse me but I have to use the restroom. Do you think it's possible for you to teach French to Andy? He is brand new." I said while giving her a knowing grin and raising my eyebrows.
"Without a doubt, I am able to. Hello, my name is Susan, and it's nice to meet you Andy. How are you adjusting to life in this new place? "The kitten purred.
I didn't really have to go, but declining offers from guys wasn't exactly one of my strong suits, so I glanced at her with gratitude as I walked away to use the restroom. Jokes and other stuff, well, I was good at that, but I didn't like making people mad, especially not the new men. I had high hopes that by the time I went to class, Susan would have successfully redirected his attention to her, and that would free me from having to actually say anything!
