Chapter 66

"It was turned off the night before, but I neglected to notify you. I am so sorry, Henry; I planned to tell you, but then you distracted me with all the chatter and the shower this morning, and then I just forgot. Please accept my apologies "Her speech was incoherent. Samantha isn't the type to go on and on, so I have no idea what she's talking about.

As I regarded her and waited for her to continue, she closed her eyes and appeared to be experiencing some discomfort. "What's up with Samantha?"

"I didn't want to wake you up when Blake called me again in the middle of the night. I'm very sorry, I really should have told you this this morning I promise."

I felt rage explode inside me. "Where do we even begin? Did he call you once more?" I let out a yell.

She grimaced in pain and then glanced at me in an embarrassed manner. She pleaded with Henry, "Henry, please don't be angry with me, I meant to inform you."

I heaved a sigh and encircled her closely with my arm, saying, "I'm not furious with you, Samantha bear; I'm angry at him!" I responded while attempting to maintain control of my voice despite the fact that my entire body was trying to convince me to get into the car, drive to his house, and beat the living daylights out of him.

She uttered in a mournful tone, "I'm very sorry for always being trouble."

I retreated and grabbed her face in my hands as I did so "Samantha, please don't act so childish, okay? You are in no way responsible for any of this. If Blake is going to continue acting like way, he must be completely deranged." I replied "gritting my teeth" in order to avoid spitting out his name. "You really should have woken me up the other night. Why the heck did you even answer the call in the first place?" I questioned while shaking my head.

"I wasn't aware that it was him when the phone rang, so I answered it as soon as I could to avoid waking you up. Before I realized it was him, I had already given my response." She reported feeling tears well up in her eyes as she spoke.

I leaned my head forward and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips for a little moment. "Samuel Bear, what exactly did he say?" I inquired because I had to, but not because I was really interested in the answer.

She shrugged and explained that it was the same old story—he was apologetic, and he wanted to meet me.

"Did he warn you that he was going to hurt you or anything else?" Because of stress, my entire body felt tense.

She instantly encircled me, clasped my shoulders in her arms, and pressed her body against mine while shaking her head and saying, "Nothing at all like that."

"We have to go report this right now." I let out a sigh, thinking, When the hell is all of this going to end? Having a restraining order issued against you and having your head bashed in should be enough of a sign to let you know that the girl isn't interested in you. I have no clue what might possibly motivate him to continue acting in this manner.

"Henry I just want things to go back to how they were before. Please? Instead of spending the evening at the police station, we ought to go get something to eat and start behaving like a married couple would. What do you think about my getting a new number and ditching my old SIM card? "She inquired while staring at me with a hopeful expression.

I heaved a sigh and gave it some thought. He didn't know where we lived, he wouldn't know her number, so he wouldn't have any way of getting in touch with her again, and the police probably wouldn't do anything for a phone call anyway; they had more or less already told us that he needed to violate the order in a significant way before they could arrest him. I sighed again and gave it some more thought.

"I've got a far better suggestion; how about we trade mobile phones for a couple of days? You won't have to go through the trouble of informing everyone about the new number if you do that." It was an offer. That wasn't the actual reason, but she didn't need to know that because the real reason wasn't something she would be interested in. If I was in possession of her phone at the time he placed the call, I would be able to continue speaking with the jerk and letting him know precisely what I would do to him if he ever came near her again.

"Henry baby, that is not a good idea; we should just get rid of it or something then he can't call again," Henry said to Henry baby. She replied while shaking her head.

"Report it or switch numbers, whichever you like." I said this while making a face at her, knowing full well that she wouldn't want to report it tonight. Both she and I were eager to begin cohabitating in the manner of a married couple as soon as possible.

She gave it some thought for a while as I waited patiently; I knew I'd won; I just wanted to give her time to think it over since I was too familiar with her to take any chances. She glared at me with a threatening expression and said, "Ok, OK, but if he phones again then we get rid of it and report it."

"Absolutely." I can attest to that. After giving her a peck on the cheek, I escorted her to the door. "Samantha bear, come on, let's get going, you're making steak for me tonight, so let's head to the store and grab the ingredients we need."

"Am I now?" she chuckled to herself. I nodded and then put on my best pleading smile, which she could never say no to. "Not the face, for the love of God! Fine I'll make steak." She smiled broadly and rolled her eyes.

(We are still getting Henry's point of view.)

The next day, Friday, went by just as quickly as the day before since everyone were still enthused about the fact that we got married. I didn't see anything, but Samantha assured me that she was still getting death glares from a good number of the other girls. They continued to flirt with me and offer to do all kinds of slutty things in the supply closet or in the toilets despite the fact that I was married, just like they did before.

Nobody came close to Samantha in terms of comparison, and they never did figure out what the hint was about. I never once misled any of the women I slept with by implying that I was interested in developing a romantic connection with them. I have no idea why in hell they continued to sleep with me after I told them that, but the fact that I told them never used to discourage them in the slightest bit. It seemed to make them more eager, wanting to be the one that would make me commit to something. In other words, it made them more eager.

Although the amount of attention I received seemed to have increased after I got married, it still seemed as though they were intent on tearing us apart. However, there was no way that I was going to allow that to take place because Samantha was the girl of my dreams, and there was no way in hell that I was going to give her up for anything in the entire world.

As I relaxed on the couch, I watched her apply yet another test patch of paint to the wall in the living room. I couldn't tell the difference between the light green, the dark green, the warm green, or the cold green. I mean, come on, it was green; what the heck did it matter if 'Apple Whisper' was marginally fresher than 'Mint Breeze'? Who the hell knows what "fresher" even means anyhow. I can't believe how bad I am at decorating!

"Well? Which one is your favorite, baby?" She asked me this while continuing to look at me while scrunching her nose in a cute way, which was something she typically did when she was trying to decide on something.

Oh crap, can you remind me which one she stated was her favorite? Wow, I really should have listened more instead of admiring her rear end all the time! "Umm, well, I have to say that the apple one is nice...." I began, and her unintentional expression of mild disapproval indicated that I had made the incorrect selection. "However, the Mint flavor is my preference." I worked rapidly to add.

She gave them a grin and gazed right back at them "Yeah? That might be the one for me as well "she nodded.

As I looked at the 10 different hues of green that she had painted on the wall in little squares, I laughed and gently nodded my head. "Wow, that's incredible. Alright, then I'll have a mint julep in this room and some biscotti in the kitchen. That takes care of two rooms, then." I was making a joke by lifting my eyebrows at her.
