Chapter Hotel

Deanara Louisana Samaniego's POV

"Is that your boyfriend?" Mikee asked me after dropping the call.

I nodded. "Yeah. Don't tell our mother about it. She doesn't know yet." I told her.

"Why not?" He asked.

"Well…" I sighed. "I will soon. Not now."

"Is that because you aren't sure of him yet?" Mikee looked at me, confirming the truth.

"I love him." I told the truth.

I do love Gray and I know that it would break my heart if we were apart. I want to make sure of my feelings because honestly I am having second thoughts. And, it's about him. He was so great and I don't want to lie to him and hurt him. It's about me and my unfinished business with Mattel that I really need to settle. I need to get it done. I have to know my feelings and the only way is to see him in person.

"But, you are hesitating because of Mattel."

"Mattel and I…" I shook my head. "Maybe, it's closure that we need."

"Is it or a second chance?" He teased me.

I rolled my eyes.

"Just help me, okay? Arrange everything for Mattel according to that list."

Mikee scanned the list I had given him as he sadly smiled.

"You were really perfect. Don't you know that?"

I smiled a bit as I glanced at the glass wall. The rain was pouring slowly outside. It wasn't heavy. It's the kind of rain I loved with a good book and hot coffee.

"You aren't the first person who told me that."

"What are you going to do if he comes back?"

I shrugged as I stood up from my seat and laid in bed. I planned on staying in the hotel since I still need to finish some business. I will also start re-designing the interior of the place. It's been a long time since I touched this place.

"I will slap him in the face." I firmly said as I closed my eyes. "He'd better have a valid reason for doing that to me."

"Would that make a difference if he has?" Mikee seriously looked at me.

"What?" I raised my brow. I know Mikee.

He isn't like this. He doesn't usually get involved in my personal life, but he has full support, and he doesn't usually ask questions. It was always Dave who had a say in everything. Mikee is silent about a lot of things regarding me, but I could feel that he is concerned about me.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" I urged. "What did Mattel tell you? What is it? What's happening? Do I need to know something?"

"I am just curious. I mean, would it make any difference? Are you going to come back to him?"

Tears fell from my eyes as I reflected on those words. Honestly, the answer is I don't know which makes me hate myself because I should be saying there is no difference. I will still not choose him. But, what valid reason could he have in doing that to me? He betrayed me and he broke his promises to me.

How dare he come back!

“No.” My voice broke. What the fuck? Why am I feeling this way? I am so freaking down. I hate this feeling.

“Why do I feel like you are lying?”

I covered my eyes with my arms as I breathed for air. Damn! I need to stop crying. I stood up and fixed myself. I will not let Mattel ruin my peace of mind again. It took me years to finally recover from him, and he’s ruining it that easy. Why am I still affected? I should have let go of this for years. Indeed, we both need to get the closure we need. Just closure and nothing else.

It’s Gray I want. It’s Gray that I want to be with and I will not hurt him. He doesn’t deserve that, so I need to fix myself.

“Let’s not talk about it, please?”

Mikee shrugged. “Just want to know.

“Did Mattel ask you to ask me?” I clarified. “I am your sister. Are you now picking his side?”

“I am not,” He answered, defensively. I wasn’t convinced of what he told me. I know, there is still something behind that. Add the fact that Mattel talked to my mother. What did they talk about?

“Okay!” Mikee stood up from his seat. “I’ll go to the kitchen and cook Paella for you. I’ll call you when I’m done. Get some rest.”

I nodded and smiled at him.

“I would just change my clothes.” He said going inside the bathroom while I sat on the living room, decided to watch movies to make myself busy. I was supposed to start sketching some plans or designs for the hotel, but I am no longer in the mood.

Just then, Gray called again.

I coughed a little and practiced my voice so he wouldn’t know that I cried a little. I don’t want him to worry, especially now that I am lying to him. Well, not really. I am just not telling him that we owned this hotel, that my family is a billionaire and such. Not that it’s a big deal.

“Hey, miss me that much?” I said as I picked up the call. “What’s up?”

“Where are you, babe?” He seriously asked me. There was something in his tone that I couldn’t figure out.

“Is there something wrong? What’s with your voice?”

“Nothing. I just want to see you, so I am asking where are you now?”

“I am at our company’s office.” I replied.

“Oh. Are you still at work?” He asked again.

I could sense that there was something different in him. I started overthinking again. Damn! I hate myself for thinking too much. Well, Gray must really miss me. I miss him, too. I cannot wait to see him soon. And, I cannot wait for my mother to meet him. I have to schedule it soon before my mother does something inappropriate knowing that she talked to Mattel.

“Yeah. Sort of. Just waiting for dinner.” I replied. “Are you okay? What are you doing?”

“Nothing. And, yeah. I am fine. Just wanna hear your voice.”

I smiled. “Aww. You’re so sweet. I will see you tomorrow. Okay?”

“I see. Will you be staying there ‘till midnight?” He confirmed.

“Yes. I need to redesign our place because we are expecting some visitors.”

My heart raced a beat. Damn!  I am lying to him and I hate it. I couldn’t imagine what he’s going to do if Mattel is already here. I hope they will not start a fight. I need to clarify everything now. I really need to talk with Mattel. Ugh! It looks like I need to see him before he even fly back here. Where the hell is he now?

“Yeah. I will go home tomorrow.” I replied. “I’ll see you and we’ll have a date.”

“Of course, babe! You will see me tomorrow.”

Before I could say I love you, he dropped the call. Okay, that’s odd. What happened to him? Is he pissed?

“You didn’t tell him the truth again.” Mikee interrupted.

“Since when did you start listening to other people’s conversations?” I fired back. “And, why are you still here?”

“Since my sister is lying to the man she told me she loves.”

“I am not lying.” I defended myself. “I am not just telling him about me, myself...well, not really, he knew me.”

“But, not the whole you. That’s still a lie.”

“Does this even matter? I mean, what if I am also a daughter of some billionaire. Will it make any difference? I told you, I don’t want to brag about it because I want people to like me as me and not because I am someone else’s daughter.”

“Let me meet Gray. Can we do that? Let me arrange it.”

“Why would you want to meet him?”

“I am your brother. It’s only fair I’ll get to know your boyfriend. He should have asked my permission first. Do you think it’s rude for me?”

I chuckled. “Okay, we can do that.”

He nodded. “Very well.“

“For now, cook my Paella!” I ordered him.

“Okay. Wait for me here. I’ll go to the kitchen.”

Just then, someone rang the bell.

“Open it for me. I left my tie in the bathroom.” Mikee said. “It must be my secretary.” He said before returning to the bathroom.

I got up off the couch and lazily walked towards the door.

My jaw dropped as soon as I saw him standing in front of me. Oh my gosh! What is he doing here ? How did he know that I am here?

Before I could say a thing, Mikee left the bathroom. His attention went on Mikee who is now walking towards us.

“My love. Can you help me tie this?” Mikee asked me. “Who’s that? Is that my secretary?”

“No. I am not your secretary.” Gray firmly said as his eyes darkened upon looking into mine.

“I’m this girl’s boyfriend.” He calmly said, though I could see he was trying to stop himself from going against Mikee. “How are you, babe?”
