Chapter Reality

Gray’s POV

“Hey, Good evening, hon!”

I heard Ethan from the other line of the phone while talking to Deanara. I mimicked my brother’s voice silently while rolling my eyes. I should be focusing on the project plan but Ethan’s voice is so disturbing.

“How are you today? Did you already visit the island?” Ethan asked.

Deanara was lying on the couch while I was typing on my laptop. From my peripheral vision, I saw her smile. She moved to pick the earphones on the bedside table and inserted it in his voice. Good thing, I could no longer listen to my brother’s voice yet I hate Deanara’s laughter as he talked to Ethan.

I tried to focus on what I am doing but I already lost the motivation to finish it so I opened my writing site to write another chapter. It’s been years since the last time I wrote a story and I never thought I would write again. Well, I need something to distract me during those times Deanara left. I also thought this would be the way for us to talk again during those times as she is a great fan of mine. Yet, she never came back.

I wrote again. I wrote our story hoping she would hear my side, but she never read it. I doubt if she even knew that I was writing again. I was writing because of her. I used to love writing way back then but I got busy and Vivian broke my heart, so I never found the motivation to write again. It was Deanara who made me realize that I still have a passion for writing. That it’s my first love and my stress reliever.

Now, what should I write? I stopped finishing our story because I don’t know how to end it. She is right in front of me now and I know how to end it. I want it to end with a happy ending. Not only the story that I am writing, but also our love story, and I will do everything to end it happily. I will make sure she will be the ending, no matter how hard or long it takes.

“Okay. Have a good night's sleep. I love you!” She waved at the camera before ending the call.

I frowned. “Really?”

“What is it now, Gray?” She rolled her eyes.

“You love him but you are still wearing the necklace I gave you.”

She fell into silence. Like the time when I discovered she was still wearing it, she gave me silence. I don’t know what it means, yet I know I still have a chance. She’s still wearing it. Why would she wear it after all these years when I mean nothing to her.

“Did he even know that I was the one who gave you that?”

“It’s none of your business.” She said and proceeded to the bed. She laid down, turned off the lights and covered herself with a blanket.

And, I realized I wanted to tease her so I went to her and jumped to the bed. She yelled upon feeling my arms on her body.

“You gotta be kidding me!” She raised her tone and pinched my arms but I did not let go. “I am going to call the police if you do--”

“I love you.” I whispered as I sniffed her hair. “I am not going to do anything.”

I felt his body soften and she stopped forcing her way out so I was able to hug her.

“You don’t love me. It’s just your ego.” She said to me.

“You don’t love Ethan. It’s just your ego.” I mimicked her.

“Gray. Let me go!” He calmly said.

“No!” I hugged her even closed and breathed in her neck sending shivers to her body.

“P-please…” She stammered and I smiled as I know I still have an effect on her.

“You don’t love Ethan.” I told him. “You don’t just know how to let him go.”

“I love him.”

“You are lying.” I accused her.

“You don’t love me. You just want to hurt Ethan.” She replied back.

“I love you,” I repeated again and held her close to mine. I missed her so much.

“Gray...please. Let me go!” She protested. “Let me go or I will--”

I instantly turned her around and kissed her lips.

“If you say another thing, I will kiss you until you give yourself to me.”

“Is this what you did to Vivian or is this what she did to you?” She circled her lips and wrinkled her eyes.

“What?” I said, confused. “What do you mean by that?”

“Let’s stop pretending, Gray. This is what you do.”

She was finally able to push me. She stood up and fixed herself.

“Tell me something I don’t know.”

She shrugged. “Tell me something I don’t know, Gray.”

“Fine.” I heaved and stood up from bed. I turned on the lamp and stared at her.

“Answer these questions and I’ll stop. I promise!” I assured her. “Just answer this.”

“If I answer those questions, you are gonna buy me a room in this hotel.” She said, raising her brow.

“I’ll buy you the entire hotel just tell me why you freaking cheated on me with my brother? My brother…” I felt weak upon seeing that. The pain is still here and I couldn’t do something to ease it.

Instead of answering me, she asked me a question.

“Why do you have to tell me you love me when you’re cheating on me with Vivian?”
