“Now, while I don’t dispute the fact that structuring is necessary, I still think we need as much hands as we can if we want a greater shot at winning this battle, guys,” Killian argued passionately.
For the past hour, they had been going back and forth on the same subject. All six of them sat at a round table in the library, drawing battle plans for the upcoming war, and by all six of them, I meant Aiyisha (of course), Kendra, Killian, Leray (Gamma of the Dnakle Pack) the very same Leray, who had been accused by Alpha Joffrey as only being book minded, and practically useless for anything else. There was also Sanjit, head guard for the Alpha’s Centuria, and finally, there was Yelena.
Surprising right?
Well, Lady Aiyisha had asked her to sit in on their final session, and while the violet eyed maiden had itched to refuse her mistress’ request, there had not exactly been any room for protests. In all truth, Aiyisha had realised that her hand maiden had a lot of potential... potential that had been untapped, and she was more than determined to expose that potential for all to see, so she had promoted the woman, finding another young wolf to take over the job of being her hand maiden instead. Yelena was now her assistant, her right hand maiden if you may... one that she was going to consort before taking on any action.
A huge promotion you’d reckon, but one that surely came with its own hidden agendas.
You see, Aiyisha could tell that the girl, Yelena was hiding something.
She didn’t exactly know what it is, but it seemed like something very important, something that was connected to her and she was fully determined to discover what that was, even if she had to go to quite extreme lengths to win the young woman’s trust... but for now she had other pressing matters to deal with.
She’d come back to that later.
“So what are you suggesting, Killian?” Aiyisha finally asked after everyone seemed to have processed his argument.
“What I’m saying, is that... while it’s too late to involve other wolves in this fight, what with Dnakle being placed on lockdown and all, I believe I can still get us help... but I’ll have to leave now if we want them here on time before Dnakle is invaded.”
“Leave?” The alarm on Kendra’s face at his words was enough to make everyone realise the new shift in their relationship. Truly, it was smouldering, stiffling indeed... for even a single glance they shared seemed to speak volumes— seemed to shout out loud to anyone who cared to listen that they were soul mates, filled to the brim with never ending love for one another.
It was cute.
Just as much as it was annoying.
“Leaving?” Kendra repeated her earlier statement. “But Killian, Dnakle has been placed on lockdown, or you’ve forgotten?”
“I haven’t Ken, lucky for me, I do not need to use that route at all. I can just as easily get there by sea, and so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
“Alright,” Kendra said, the look in her brown eyes leaving no room for argument. “I’m coming with you then.”
“No, Ken...”
“But Kill—”
“No, Ken... drop it. You can’t come with me. It’s far too perilous to have you come with me, especially when I have unfinished scores to settle with them . Going with you will make me defenceless, Kendra... for you are my weakness now, and they will easily pick up on that, trust me.” As much as his words were sweet— truly, they were— it didn’t stop her from wanting to protest, being the stubborn she wolf she was. But luckily... or unluckily for her, (whichever way you wanted to look at it) Aiyisha cut in their conversation, “I think Killian is right, Kendra... plus you two are both well endowed fighters, Killian can handle himself just fine wherever it is that he’s going, but we need you here, we can’t have you both go away like that. Or what do you think, Leray? Sanjit? Yelena?” She asked them all. They only nodded, very much agreeing with her line of thought.
It was hard to still press to go with her mate, especially when everyone was looking at her like that, counting on her like she was some sort of saviour, but the thing was that her own saviour was going to leave her behind, and someway somehow, their mating had made the thought of him leaving much more painful than before.
The pain was almost akin to losing a loved one to the cold arms of death, and to be very honest, Kendra had no idea what to do with it.
“Who are these people you’re going to see?” She asked her mate, still trying to come to terms with everything, but the handsome Alpha wolf only clenched his jaw tight, a tell-tale sign that he was not going to divulge that piece of information to her now, not even if she fussed. “You do not need to concern yourself with that, Ken... I’ll tell you everything when I return.” He stood up, the action making the female Beta do so too in alarm, “You are leaving right now?”
“I have to if I want us back tomorrow, because I really don’t trust the information that has reached us so far. For all we know, it could be some ploy by Macintyre to take us by surprise.” He explained, his eyes shooting across to everyone sitting at the table.
“I must say that I quite agree with Alpha Silvercrest,” Leray added, hawk-like eyes squinting slightly as he took of his reading glasses, “The thought did cross my mind, Aiyisha. They could even sneak in this night, we’re open and at their mercy after all. Luckily, I have been working on a little something with some of my men, so should that happen, I have that taken care of,” He smiled proudly, the action causing Aiyisha to shoot him a smile of her own. “Thank you, genius.” The smile slowly dropped from her face as she turned her attention to the female beta, who still stood there, staring at her mate, and for the first time since Aiyisha had known her, she looked truly lost. “Kendra, are you alright?”
“Uh... yeah,” She whispered softly, shaking her head softly to clear her thoughts and steeling her shoulders to show that she had her emotions under control. “Kill, don’t you need to go and get ready? We can handle the rest from here.” She was trying to appear strong, but she had forgotten that now her emotions and thoughts were rather bare to her mate, and that he could see right through her.
“Aiyisha, Sanjit, Leray, Yelena... Can you excuse Kendra and I for a moment? I am rather saying my goodbyes now as I’ll leave after ensuring that my mate is okay, so goodnight. Wish me luck.”
His mate.
The word still made Aiyisha’s heart hurt with longing. She really wanted some of what they had. “You do not need luck, Killian... I rather trust in your abilities.” The Alpha’s daughter smiled at him, bowing her head slightly in farewell.
“Well, I’ll offer it to you anyway, man...” Sanjit stood up to clap the Alpha across the back, doing that bro hug thing that men were so fond of. The two had rather become quite close due to all their sparring sessions. “Good luck, I’m pretty sure you’ll need it.”
“Good luck my lord,” Yelena muttered softly when it got to her turn, not quite meeting his eyes, finding that she was still unused to this new post she had as Lady Aiyisha’s right hand maiden. The title did have a nice ring to it though, that much she couldn’t deny.
As for Leray, he only nodded his goodbyes, going right back to burying his head in the book he had with him.
Typical.
With one last nod to everyone, the Alpha grabbed his mate by the hand and then both of them exited the library.
Aiyisha, still slightly awed by how adorable the couple looked had to shake her head to clear the emotional feelings. “Alright!” She said with a large breath. “Let’s go on. Yelena, what are your thoughts on mobilising the she-wolves and hiding the pups should there be an emergency invasion?”
The young she wolf pondered over the situation for a moment, slightly chewing her bottom lip in the process. “All the pups are kept in the Palace nursery during the day, are they not?”
“Yes,” Leray answered, his attention suddenly on the woman he had barely heard say a word in all her time in the room. He found that he quite suddenly wanted to know what she had to say.
“Well... I think we should permanently move them there, at least until the war is over anyway.”
“Is that all?” Leray asked, quite feeling as though the she wolf still had more to say.
“Actually no, it isn’t... I have noticed that the Palace basement is also right under the nursery, so if we could perhaps create a secret doorway to I-I don’t know, maybe connect the two, the wet nurses could easily get them to safety at the first sight of trouble.”
Leray seemed very impressed at Yelena’s ingenious idea, and apparently, so was Sanjit. Aiyisha only smiled proudly at the exchange, her heart content that the instinct to promote the she wolf had not been in vain.
“Sanj, is there a way we can make Yelena’s suggestion a reality?” she asked in interest.
“Indeed, there is... and I’m very sure with Leray’s help, and my men of course, we can very well make it work.”
“Wonderful. The secret basement has already been stocked with food supplies, and the geriatrics have already been sent there as well.” She added, and then finally stood up. “I guess we’re done here, there’s still so much to be done after all, so I’m going to end this very short meeting so we finish up with the preparations.”
“Alright. Lady Yelena, Leray and I would get started on the basement project immediately then,” Sanjay said, the title he had added to our former hand maiden’s name shocking her into even further silence, but Aiyisha only laughed. “Whatever is the matter, Yelena dear? The title comes with your new position, so you’d best start getting used to it, for there’s a lot more in store for you. So much more.”
Yelena could only bow her head in appreciation, finding that she was till too overwhelmed to say a single word.
How had she gotten so lucky?

“You’re worried for my safety.” Killian stated the obvious as he packed a couple of tunics into a knapsack.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Kendra fired back at him, “It’s not as though you’re telling me exactly where it is that you’re going after all.”
“They are old friends, Ken... I’m a little hesitant to talk about them because the last time we met, things did not exactly end on a good note, and as such I’ve got to settle things before thinking of even asking them for help.” He stopped what he was doing to give her his full attention, “They can be, how do I say this... a tad bit violent, and that’s why I don’t want you there, Ken.”
“I can understand that, but that doesn’t make it anymore easy for me to let you go there especially when you have just told me about their violence, Kill,” The dark skinned she wolf said, looking every bit distressed.
Surprisingly, all of those negative emotions disappeared as soon as Killian closed the gap between them, his left hand softly caressing her face. “W-what’s happening?” Kendra asked in confusion.
“I don’t know, but I think someway somehow, I’m sharing my emotions with you to calm you down. Is it working?”
Kendra bit her lower lip in amazement, still reeling from the feeling of love and confidence oozing from her mate into her. “It is.” She whispered softly, going right back to biting her lip.
“No, don’t do that now, Ken...” Killian groaned softly, pulling her lip away from her vicious teeth, “You know what that fucking does to me.”
Kendra, usually smart mouthed, found that this time she had no words for him, feeling rather overcome with need.
Need for her mate.
It was almost as though they hadn’t spent the entire night before fucking and pleasuring each other senseless.
But he had been able to share his feelings with her hadn’t he?
Perhaps she could do same.
And so she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and then envisioning some kind of open bottle and thinking of it as Killian’s emotions, she proceeded to pour him some of her feelings.
The manifestation was instantaneous, and truly erotic.
She watched as his eyes widened, toggling between blue and silver for a moment and then settling back on blue, and oh Lord, do not get her started on the tent in his breeches.
It truly was a sight to behold.
Almost as though she was mentally blowing him like some kind of inflatable balloon.
“Fuck, what are you doing to me, Ken?” He groaned, pulling her close to him and breathing in her wonderful scent, but the sexy vixen only chuckled in delight. “I think I’ve figured out how to transfer my emotions to you too.” She replied cheekily.
The Alpha stared at her for a long while and roughly claimed her lips, too overcome with love and desire to say anything, but just as quickly he pulled away, his eyes doing that toggling thing again, “I really need to leave... but you best be rest assured that we’ll continue where we left off when I return.” He said with a smirk as he smacked her ass and grabbed his stuff, leaving Kendra standing alone in the room to ponder over his very much assured promise, her nipples still taut with need, and her panties ruined with dampness.
