Blair Monore
Being Zeke's pretend girlfriend is like a dream. That even now she's seeing him in her dreams too...
Crap!
Since the surprise beach trip there relationship and even their sex life has been wild, she had definitely learned to tune out the press, social media and what the online critiques say about her. Blair just focused on doing her part and also enjoying her new found relationship with Zeke. Who was ridiculously cute, and a romantic even when he denies he wasn't!
The fact that he hates the word love and still wooes her and makes her trip over her own feet baffles her. Blair had woken up hours ago but just lay on the bed thinking and mauling over her new situationship that was moving to a two months relationship now. She opened her eyes and looked around. She was still in Zeke’s bed, wrapped up in luxurious duffet. Zeke was nowhere to be seen which means he had probably left for work. She most have slept through the Morning yet again...
Something she never did nor had the luxury to do before. She relaxed back into her pillow and sighed. He was probably already at work. She on the other hand, felt like she could roll over and fall right back to sleep. Despite the fact that she had slept like a rock, she was exhausted.
“Too much sex,” she mumbled into the pillow groaning. Zeke did have a monstrous stamina, That had to be the reason why she was so tired lately. It was either that or she was getting sick. She really hoped it was just too much amazing sex and she just needed to get in better shape.
She groaned, unable to fall back asleep despite wanting to. With a sigh and a groan, she sat up and swung her legs to the edge of the bed. She was so freaking tired, but yet unable to sleep more. Maybe coffee would make her feel more sober and awake. Her feet hit the ground and she reached for her robe hanging by the bed. It took just Zeke's habit of sleeping naked for her to become comfortable with sleeping in the nude. She’d mostly accepted it because it was so wonderful to simply cuddle into Zeke’s arms and fall asleep after one of their many epic lovemaking sessions.
She padded out to the kitchen, eyes still blurry with sleep. She secretly hoped that Zeke would still be in the kitchen. He liked to read the paper in the morning and sip his coffee. She liked finding him and joining him for a shared comfortable, quiet morning. He wasn’t there. Blair sighed and wondered what was bothering her. Something was different and she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. She had felt it for a week now, but the feeling was stronger now.
The coffee pot hummed to life as she pressed the buttons. Zeke had the fanciest coffee machine she’d ever seen. It was a good thing she had worked in a coffee shop with a temperamental espresso machine, or she would have never been able to figure out how to work the dang thing.
In just a few seconds, Blair had a cup of steaming coffee complete with foamed milk and just a dash of vanilla. It was heaven in a cup.
She wrapped her hands around the mug and sat down at the table. She was a little more awake now, but still tired. It was a good thing she didn’t have to work today, or any day really, because she wasn’t sure she would make it to the end of the day without a nap.
She sipped her coffee as she sat in the balcony. Sunshine pouring in as it kissed her skin. The smell of roses caught her attention and she smiled. The entire living room was filled with different colors of the beautiful blossoms. She still couldn’t believe Zeke had filled a room with roses for her to walk into when she went out for an important interview.
Well maybe he was thankful that she finally said yes, agreeing to do the interview. Blair was skeptical at first going live and having people poke about her life and without Zeke! Because she was the only invited as a guest to the show.
Blair always saw herself as a confident woman but it was recently she realized she didn't do well in foreign areas. Being that social? Associating with dignitaries? Tv personalities where a huge thing and new in her book. Blair had said a big no when Zeke told her about it and she had even used a clause in the contract against him...
A clause that says A isn't allowed to forced B to do what she dosen't want to!
Anyways she had finally agreed after careful consideration and she was glad that she had gone for the interview. She knew she did him yet another huge favour. Anyways when she got home he had filled the penthouse with red roses and He’d even put it live on his Facebook for everyone to see. At first, she felt a little used. He was showing off their relationship for the public, but then, that was what she’d signed up for. It was a good idea to share it.
That was the aim after all...
Her phone buzzed from her robe pocket with a notification. Blair pulled out her phone and saw that she needed to turn in for her online class. She chuckled and turned the notification off. Blair finally had the luxury to pursue her dreams of being a marine biologist.
She sipped her coffee, enjoying the sunshine for a moment.
And then she nearly spit it out.
She was late.
She hastily pulled up her phone and checked the flow app calendar and did the mental math. Her last period was seven weeks ago. She’d been living with Zeke for almost two months now. She was officially two weeks late.
Her periods were never late!
Never!
That was the one thing she liked about her body!
Could she be pregnant?
Her hands shook as she set down the phone and pushed her coffee away.
Without meaning to, her hands went to her belly. Her stomach felt the same, but she’d known something was different but she had ignored the warning signals.
She knew something had changed.
Blair swallowed hard. There was only one way to be certain.
She put on a pair of jean shorts and a comfortable t-shirt, threw her hair up in a ponytail, and grabbed her purse. On a last minute decision, she put on a ball cap and some reflective sunglasses. There was a corner store just a couple of blocks away that would have pregnancy tests.
She thought about just calling for someone to get her one. It would be easy in this apartment, and Zeke had told her she could ask for anything to be delivered. She thought about it, and then decided against it.
First, she’d have to find something to do while she waited for them. If she went to the store herself, she would have something to keep her busy. Second, she didn’t want Zeke to know yet. If it was just a false alarm, she didn’t want him to ask about it.
If it wasn’t a false alarm...
She wasn’t sure what to do.
“He wants the baby,” she said under her breath as she waved to the doorman and headed out into the now harsh sunshine.
This was the contract. This was what was supposed to happen right? Zeke would be thrilled that she was pregnant so easily.
So why was she nervous?
Why was she scared?
She was terrified because it was real now. She really cared about him, and if she was pregnant, then they would be tied together forever. She knew she would always love him. She’d loved him from the moment he’d walked into her coffee shop years ago.
She hurried across the street, ignoring the blare of horns as the light changed. She needed to get to the store as soon as possible. She needed to know for sure.
She felt like sprinting to the store, but that wouldn’t work. For starters, she was still tired, and the other reason was that she didn’t want to draw attention to herself. She was the girlfriend of a billionaire about to buy a pregnancy test.
It wouldn’t be a bad thing if it got out, since the baby was part of the master plan, but she wanted to be the one to tell him. She didn’t want him finding out because of some trashy gossip column. She wanted to stick to the plan as much as she could for the moment.
The corner store was quiet. The clerk barely glanced up as Blair walked in. She wandered around the store for a moment, trying to get her hands to stop shaking. She picked up the test, a bottle of water, and a pack of gum. It felt strange to just buy the test.
“This all?” The clerk didn’t even look at her. He just stared at his computer screen, looking incredibly bored.
“Yeah.” She glanced around and saw her face on at least three magazines. They were all the trashy tabloids, but there she was, standing next to Zeke. “And these,” she added.
The clerk shrugged and added on the magazines. Blair knew it was a bad idea to read them. They wouldn’t say anything she didn’t already know, but she couldn’t help herself.
She tugged her hat down lower when the clerk gave her the total. She flipped the magazines over so she wasn’t visible as soon as she could.
“Thank you. Come again.” The clerk sounded bored. Blair nodded and gathered her things together and hurried out of the store.
Back out in the sunlight, Blair felt like she’d just pulled off the biggest heist in history. The clerk hadn’t recognized her or even commented on the test. Her hands shook with relief. Step one was done.
Now it was time to take the test.
Blair paused. She didn’t want to take it at his apartment. The maids would see it when they cleaned up. She thought about using her apartment, but the maids cleaned that one too. She didn’t even know where the dumpster was in the building.
Blair stood on the sidewalk and chewed on her cheek.
With a deep breath she turned around and went back inside the shop.
“Where’s the bathroom?” she asked the clerk.
He sighed and pointed toward the back corner. She nodded and headed back there, really hoping that he was still disinterested.
The bathroom was tiny, but at least it looked clean. Blair took the test out of the box and read the directions three times before feeling semi-confident that she could do this properly. It didn’t seem hard- just pee on a stick- but the last thing she wanted to do was mess it up and have to buy another test.
She took a deep breath, prepped the stick and did her best.
Peeing on a stick is not an easy feat. It seems like it should be.
Blair made sure the applicator had enough before carefully balancing the precious test on the sink while she cleaned up. She had to wait a few minutes for the test results anyway, so she was glad she had something to do.
She checked her watch every five seconds. The test said it could take up to three minutes for a result with a possible positive marker at the minute mark.
Fifty-four, fifty-five, fifty-six....
The seconds took hours.
At the one minute mark, Blair picked up the test. It was early, but she couldn’t wait any longer.
Her breath caught and she wasn’t sure if she was going to laugh or cry.
Two pink lines.
She was pregnant.
Oh God!
Her stomach quivered nervously, her legs gave out as she slumped on the floor. Her hands shaking as she stared at the pregnancy test..
Just when she thought she was finally growing comfortable!
A fake marriage? Fake girlfriend? Fake wife? All were bearable or doable but a baby in all the fakeness!
Is she ready to be that kind of mother! Bringing her child into something not real when she wants it real!
Fuck!
