The Last Vampire God Chapter 46

He snaps his fingers and all the wounds we both took heal instantly.

"Just know that if I was in my real body that this would be different, especially if it was a genuine fight. Luckily the purpose of the fight was to open your eyes," Aziel says with a smirk on his face.

I look down at the scales that formed along my arms, realizing that it is a lot more evolved than before. A red like aura radiating from each crack in the scales.

"You definitely opened my eyes to this strength of mine," I reply while staring at the scales.

"Having the blood of a dragon run in your family is quite an interesting thing, especially for a vampire. I think you’ll be quite the successful heir Dante," Aziel says with a genuine tone.

He places his hand on my shoulder.

"Heir?" I question.

"I’ll no longer be the vampire god. You’ll become the last one, don’t make the mistake I did," Aziel answers with a bit of happiness in his voice.

"Wait, I thought you were the last one already. That doesn’t make any sense to me," I say with a bit of confusion in my voice.

"The last one would be the one capable of taking my power. In this instance, that is you. I’m very happy to pass it down to someone with a good heart like yours," Aziel replies.

My heart doesn’t feel like it is good in the slightest... Not with the intentions I have against the humans. I want to give some of them a chance but I know the hunters need to die.

This path isn’t going to be an easy one. Aziel even told me that hunters are all over the world.

Lumiel won’t end anything for good, it’ll just be the beginning. I’ll need to wipe the ones out here before starting my journey to the other continents.

I never once thought it would actually be easy to get done but that would’ve been nice.

"Thank you for entrusting this to me," I say with appreciation in my voice.

"You don’t have to thank me, just take care of everything. I also want you to tell Morrigan that I appreciated everything she did, especially in the end," Aziel replies with smile.

I can hear the sadness in his voice... He definitely knows that this means death. There is nothing else after I leave here for him, just a chance to move forward.

That is something I don’t know much about with our kind, where do we go? Humans have some sort of gods that they believe bring them peace.

My mother never really mentioned such a thing when she was teaching me about the world.

Hopefully it is peaceful wherever they end up when they do die; I wouldn’t want my Mom or Astaria to suffer. They were both kind souls who didn’t deserve the fate that they were given by humans.

"Well Dante, this is where we finally say our goodbyes. I wish I could’ve gotten to know you more, but this is how it is supposed to go," Aziel says while moving his hand away.

"Thank you for giving me this power and for helping me understand that I can bring it out without blood," I reply before giving a polite bow.

"Take Care Dante," Aziel says before sitting down on his throne once again.

I watch as everything around me starts to disappear into nothing, slowly bringing me back to the room with the girls. Pain is no longer coursing throughout my body and I feel a lot better.

"I’m sure he’ll be up so—"

"Dante!" Lia shouts, cutting off Morrigan.

Being back on my feet after standing in that strange void definitely feels strange but the girls are back. My eyes lock onto Lia the moment I realize she shouted my name.

"Yep, I’m back. It was quite an experience," I reply while running my hand through my hair.

"Your hair changed while you were unconscious but I’m glad you’re okay," Lia says with relief in her voice.

I feel warmth for a moment as I realize Amelia is hugging me.

"Don’t scare us like that next time!" She shouts, muffled into my chest.

"I don’t intend to scare anyone again. But I do have something to tell you Morrigan," I say while looking towards her.

"What is it?" She questions with a curious tone.

"Aziel wanted me to tell you thank you for everything you did, especially in the end," I answer with a soft tone.

I see a few tears stream down her face for a moment as she realizes what he means. Only she would know what happened up until his final moments.

"Are we finally done here?" Lia asks with some jealousy in her voice.

Amelia let’s go of me and I walk over to Lia.

"Yes, we should probably get going. I think it is time to continue back to Lumiel," I suggest.

Before Lia responds I give her a hug as well, sensing the relief it gives her after a few moments pass.

"Y-Yeah let’s go," Lia says after I let go of her.

There is a lot that needs to happen before I can enjoy a peaceful life again, but I have learned a lot today. Lukas is alive, hunters span far beyond what I previously imagined, and that I am now the last vampire god.

The title was passed down to me as the next heir so I need to live up to the name if I want to make him proud.

So that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

"Sniffle. I’m ready to leave as well," Morrigan speaks up after wiping her eyes.

"Then we won’t waste anymore time here," I respond before starting to walk away from the room.

I think that with this power... We truly do have a chance to bring the vampires back.

Goodbye Aziel, sleep peacefully.

We start to backtrack.
