20: Know Your Place
"Wow, I suspect Little Qian you're using a proxy player." After Bai Ling got familiar with the game operations, the Guild Leader predictably began her journey of being abused.
Every one of her attacks would be easily caught by Bai Ling, then countered with a slash.
Bai Ling didn't know those complex combos. All she knew was the block-and-counter that Leticia had just taught her.
But this was enough. For Bai Ling, the character's movements on screen were as slow as a turtle, and perfect blocking was as simple as drinking water for her.
"Guild Leader, just give up. Little Bai's reaction speed can't even be considered human." Leticia laughed, watching the Guild Leader get brutalized by Bai Ling gave her an inexplicable sense of satisfaction.
However, Bai Ling was obviously somewhat dissatisfied with Leticia's evaluation. "Are you insulting me?"
Calling her inhuman, right?
"This is a compliment, okay?" Leticia indicated she was sincerely praising Bai Ling this time.
"Really?"
"Praising you for being so strong you don't seem human. Could that possibly be an insult?"
"..." Bai Ling fell into silence. It seemed... indeed... it wasn't an insult.
Could it be that she was being too sensitive?
Meanwhile, the Guild Leader was already fantasizing about the future. "Once Little Bai joins the guild, our team will have two top-tier experts. Ahahaha, purple rank is within reach, purple rank is within reach!"
"Guild Leader, you should first think about how to keep our green rank. I can't single-handedly take on an entire team." Leticia said helplessly to the Guild Leader.
The power gap in their guild was too large. She was in the first tier, below her were a few experts, and below them were the main members for guild wars.
Those few experts had been persuaded to join by the Guild Leader with great difficulty, and their condition for joining was that they wouldn't have to participate in guild wars.
"Green rank... let me check the current score... eh, don't we still have three hundred points?" The Guild Leader said very optimistically. "Purple rank is within reach."
"Within reach my ass! We're still seven hundred points away from the promotion match and only three hundred away from the relegation match!" Leticia said viciously.
As she spoke, her hand unconsciously rested on Bai Ling's shoulder and began gradually applying pressure. This was her usual method of venting dissatisfaction.
But normally she would grab the chair or desk. Today there was another person sitting in the chair, and Leticia didn't react in time, so she directly grabbed her.
Bai Ling frowned and glanced at Leticia, but found that the girl had completely ignored her existence.
"Three hundred points! I just pulled the team up from one hundred points a few days ago. Guild Leader, can you pay more attention?"
"Even if you say that, there's nothing I can do. In our guild, you're the only capable one, Little Qian. The others are just above average. Being able to keep green rank is already good." The Guild Leader's voice became a tiny bit lower.
Speaking of which, ever since she'd pulled Little Qian into the guild, every guild war was Little Qian carrying the entire guild upward.
This made the Guild Leader feel uncomfortable. Other guilds would worship such big shots, but here, she could only give Little Qian some items.
It wasn't that she hadn't thought about giving Little Qian some financial compensation, but whenever she brought this up, Little Qian would refuse without hesitation.
"Just help me spend money on weapons and stuff." This was Little Qian's biggest request.
Honestly, a weapon in the game wasn't cheap, but compared to the value of an expert like Little Qian, it was still much lower.
"If we could recruit a good commander, that would be nice too." Leticia let go of Bai Ling and propped her chin with her right hand, pondering.
"Good commanders all have fixed teams. I'll try my best to look for one." The Guild Leader agreed to Leticia's request. "By the way, do you want a newbie account?"
"Newbie account?"
"Isn't Little Bai going to start a new account? You can't go to low-level zones, so how will you guide Little Bai without a newbie account?" The Guild Leader spoke confidently. "Don't worry about your main account, I can help you with your dailies."
"She doesn't need me to guide her!" Leticia quickly objected.
Bai Ling needing her guidance? What a joke. This girl would definitely be a newbie village tyrant.
"Guide?" Bai Ling's eyes sparkled with curiosity. She looked at Leticia, asking what this word meant.
"It means using an account of similar level to play with you. My main account can't enter low-level zones." Leticia briefly explained. "That's what it means. You probably don't want me to guide you either, right?"
She and Bai Ling were enemies. Who would let their enemy guide them in gaming?
Leticia was certain Bai Ling would play by herself.
"Sounds interesting." But Bai Ling shook her head. "I want you to guide me."
"...Are you serious?"
"Is there something wrong with that?"
"There are quite a few things wrong with it." Leticia found that Bai Ling didn't seem to have a clear understanding of their relationship. "Are we on good terms?"
"No."
"It should be very bad."
"..."
"So how did you, genius, think of having me guide you in gaming!" Leticia loudly questioned. "We're enemies!"
