Chapter 46

Derick called for pack meeting, we'll gathered when the silence was deafening as Derick and Jessica continued to stare at each other, their expressions tense. I could feel the tension building up between them, and I knew that this was not going to end well.

Suddenly, Derick turned to me and asked what I thought. I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. On the one hand, I knew that we needed to be careful, especially after what had happened with Lucas. On the other hand, I couldn't ignore the fact that Mia was in need of help, and she was one of us after all.

"I...I don't know," I stammered. "I mean, I understand why you're hesitant, Derick. But at the same time, Mia needs our help. She's one of us, and we shouldn't turn our backs on her."

Derick sighed heavily and ran a hand through his hair. "I know," he said finally. "But we can't just blindly trust anyone, especially after what happened with Lucas. We need to be cautious and make sure that we're not putting ourselves in danger."

Jessica nodded in agreement. "I understand where you're coming from, Derick. But I also think that we need to be compassionate and help those in need, even if it means taking a risk."

Derick looked at Jessica for a long moment, his eyes narrowing. "And how do we know that we can trust Mia? She's been banished from the pack, and we don't know where she's been or what she's been up to."

Jessica opened her mouth to reply, but before she could say anything, we heard a loud commotion coming from outside the training grounds. We quickly made our way over to see what was going on.

As we stepped outside, we saw a group of wolves approaching us. They were wearing the emblem of the black bird wolves, and I could feel my heart racing with fear. Were they here to attack us?

Derick stepped forward, his eyes narrowing. "What do you want?" he growled.

The leader of the group, Miranda. Stepped forward, a smirk on her face. "We're here to collect what's ours," she said. "And we're not leaving until we get it."

I could feel the tension building up around us, and I knew that this was not going to end well. Derick and Jessica stepped forward to face the black bird wolves, their expressions determined. And as the two packs prepared to face off against each other, I couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen next.

The air was filled with the growls of wolves and the tension was so thick that it felt like it could be cut with a knife. The two packs were standing face to face, waiting for the other to make a move. Derick and Jessica were leading the charge, their eyes locked onto the leader of the black bird wolves, Miranda.

I watched nervously from the sidelines, unsure of what to do. I knew that I wasn't strong enough to fight, and I didn't want to get in the way. But I couldn't just stand there and watch as my friends put their lives on the line.

Suddenly, Derick spoke up again, his voice dripping with venom. "What belong to you, that is in my possession, Miranda? You come to my territory, uninvited, and demand to see me. Do you have a death wish?"

Miranda stood tall, her eyes blazing with determination. "We know what Lucas did to you. He betrayed you and worked for me all along. We demand that you hand Mia over to us now because we know she's here."

Derick's smirked, "Oh, you mean that little traitor? I don't think so. He's proven himself to be useful to you, and we don't care! But Mia, we're not about to just give her up, or what if you give us Lucas?"

Miranda scoff, "You dreaming! I will never give you Lucas before getting Mia because Lucas is our own."

Jessica stepped forward, her voice cold and hard. "Then we'll take him by force if we have to. We won't let a betrayer just walk away like that."

Miranda's eyes narrowed. "You really think you can take us on? You're outnumbered, little wolf. And even if you managed to beat us, we will make your territory miserable without leaving anyone of you alive."

The tension was palpable, and for a moment, it felt like time had stopped. Then, with a roar, the two packs charged at each other, and the battle began.

I watched in horror as the wolves clashed, teeth and claws flashing in the sunlight. It was chaos, and it was impossible to tell who was winning or losing. I wanted to run, to hide somewhere safe, but I knew that I couldn't leave my friends to fight alone.

I looked around for anything that I could use as a weapon, and my eyes fell on a fallen tree branch. Without hesitation, I picked it up and charged into the fray.

It wasn't long before I found myself face to face with a black bird wolf, his eyes gleaming with malice. I swung the branch, hitting him in the face, and he stumbled backwards, giving me a chance to strike again.

But before I could make another move, I felt a sharp pain in my side, and everything went black.

As I drifted into unconsciousness, I could hear the sounds of a fierce battle raging around me. The clash of teeth and claws, the sound of growls and snarls, and the scent of blood and sweat filled the air. I felt myself slipping away, and I knew that I was in grave danger.

The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a soft bed, my head throbbing and my side aching with pain. As I looked around, I realized that I was in Derick's bedroom, and he was sitting by my side, looking down at me with concern in his eyes.

"You're awake," he said, his voice filled with relief. "Thank the Moon Goddess."

I tried to sit up, but the pain in my side made me gasp, and I lay back down on the bed. "What happened?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Derick sighed heavily. "We won the battle, but it came at a great cost. We lost many of our pack members, including Jessica. She fought bravely, but she was overwhelmed by the black bird wolves. Miranda was leading them, and she's become more powerful than any of us could have imagined."

I gasped in shock. "Miranda? But she's human. How could she turn into a wolf?"

Derick looked at me with a solemn expression. "I don't know, but we need to find out. She's a danger to us all."

I nodded, wincing in pain as I moved. "What about Mia? Did she join the fight?"

Derick shook his head. "No. She disappeared just before the battle started. We don't know where she went."

I frowned, feeling a sense of unease. "Do you think she betrayed us?"

Derick's expression darkened. "I don't know. But we need to find her and make sure she's not a threat to us."

As I lay there, my mind raced with all the events that had transpired. Miranda turning into a wolf, the loss of Jessica, and the betrayal of Lucas. It was all so much to take in, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of despair.

But I knew that I had to stay strong. I had to help my pack, and I had to make sure that we survived. And with Derick by my side, I knew that anything was possible.
