Chapter Stagger And Fall

When Uti saw the basketball that was bouncing towards her and Weeby, the girl immediately opened her eyes a little wider, and the orange ball almost hit Weeby. Before that could happen, Weeby was suddenly startled by being pushed forward. Yes, Uti had pushed her for Weeby's safety, but she was the one who got hit.

Weeby almost fell down, but because she could maintain her balance, it didn't happen, Weeby then heard a scream from behind her.

As a result of the ball hitting her head, Uti fell down, and, accompanied by the dizziness that hit her, her vision was slightly blurred. Uti was now sitting on the sidelines with one hand holding her head, right in the area that was hit by the unexpectedly flying ball. With her eyes closed, Uti tried to fight off the growing dizziness.

"Uti!" Weeby was so startled, she immediately turned around to catch up with Uti, crouching down while holding her best friend's shoulders. "Uti, are you okay? Does your head hurt?"

Not only Weeby, who was currently panicking, but also her other classmates, the girls who had been sitting on the edge, immediately ran around Uti.

"Uti, you didn't faint, did you?"

"I didn't faint, I saw that I was still conscious. You have eyes, you can see for yourself."

"You know, your questions are really weird."

"Ish, I'm just asking."

"Are you okay, Ti?"

"Hey, don't make a fuss, let's take Uti to the medical room now!"

The back and forth remarks from the surroundings made Uti even more dizzy at the moment. Dozens of pairs of eyes were staring at her, Uti knew that they were panicking, that her friends cared about her, but really, this was a bit much in Uti's opinion. She was fine at the moment. Uti wasn't that weak, let alone being taken to the infirmary. Everything was unnecessary.

"Uti, let's go to the infirmary right away." Weeby grabbed Uti's arm, ready to help her up, but Uti's next reply succeeded in making Weeby silent.

Uti shook her head weakly and said, "No, I'm fine. Thank you all, I just have a headache."

"Obviously dizzy. You hit your head with a basketball that big, and it's heavy too." One of her classmates said, followed by another nod.

One of the girls, who had her hair in a braid, said, "I'd probably be flat on my back, or else I'd be crying."

"Well, it's different with me, I'd probably get angry right away."

"Wait, who did this?" asked Weeby.

"Guys, who else could it be? There's Novan running here."

That's right, Novan was running, and Uti pressed her lips together. For some reason, she was holding her breath. It was so strange, Uti felt that her heart was beating so fast just because she saw that boy.

All the girls stepped aside as soon as Novan reached Uti. His chest was rising and falling, Novan was panting, and the boy was gasping because his breathing was disrupted.

With sweat streaming down his face, Novan looked up at Uti. Uti could see that panic had taken over the boy's face. Novan cared, either because he was the culprit and felt guilty, or because he really didn't want Uti to get hurt.

"Uti, you're okay, right? I didn't mean to, I-" Novan closed his eyes for a split second, he had to neutralize the rush of his breath first. Novan was completely out of breath.

"Relax, I'm safe." Uti replied, then she stood up from her seat, and Weeby swiftly carried Uti even though she had not been asked.

Novan also stood up and said, "Really? Your head doesn't hurt?"

"No, I just have a little headache." Uti answered quickly. She realized that all her friends were staring at her, and Uti felt uncomfortable with that. She wanted to end this problem as soon as possible. "Gym time is about to end, let's go to class; let's change our uniforms."

"Come on, I want to go to class too."

"Me too, I'm really hot."

"You're just sitting! You're not sweaty yet, where are you hot?"

"Ish, you look at yourself, you're the same too, no need to call me names."

The noise created made Weeby sigh softly. She looked at Uti with a faint smile, then nodded. "Alright, let's go."

"Uti—"

"You better continue playing basketball again," said Uti, cutting off Novan's words, which had not yet been fully finished. "Look, your friends are waiting."

Novan glanced at his male friends, and Uti was right.

"That's the basketball, you take it yourself." Uti pointed to the object that had hit her head moments ago, it was now lying not far from her. Uti then noticed Weeby.

Uti and Weeby then left the presence of Novan, who was actually about to say something more. Uti had already left, making Novan feel even more guilty. In fact, he had not even said sorry, Novan felt too bad.

But, it's not too late, there's still time to apologize, and Novan pressed his lips together, nodded firmly, then smiled slightly at Uti's back, who was getting away from him.

"Yes, I can do it later." Novan knew he was wrong, even if it was unintentional. A few moments ago, he was also surprised when the ball he threw into the basketball hoop bounced and shot instead of entering and scoring to get extra points, finally hitting Uti.

"Van, what are you doing staring at? Let's hurry up and play again! Take the ball!" Erza shouted from the field, Novan turned his head.

"The ball is next to you!"

"It's time for the lesson change bell!"

"Our score is still equal, someone has to win."

The shouting made Novan sigh softly, his thoughts still falling and drifting towards Uti. But, since his friends were already cheering, Novan also had to obey. He emphasized that he had to solve the problem with Uti.

Uti's lips did say that the girl was fine, but Novan knew for sure that Uti was hiding something. Novan figured that Uti was clearly angry with him.

"Damn it, Van! What are you doing?"

They're too halal to be blasphemed. Really very impatient. Novan had to chuckle softly because of his irritation.

"Yeah-yeah, wait a minute!" Novan shouted back. Novan snorted. He then picked up the basketball, threw it quickly towards the center of the field, and was caught by Marcell swiftly.

Meanwhile, Uti was already fine now. The dizziness only lasted for a short time.

"Don't hold it in, if you feel really dizzy, you just go to the medical room, I'll accompany you, you can lie down there."

"No, I'm fine. I'm safe."

Weeby sighed. "Why did you push me just now? You hit the basketball yourself, I should have."

"I was just a reflex, I didn't know I was going to hit the ball."

"Thanks, and sorry that you got hit."

"No need to apologize, there's no need. Novan must not have meant it, I'm not mad at him either."

Weeby agreed with that. "But, I saw earlier that Novan felt really guilty, that face of his was really sorry, I think."

"Yes, I saw it too."

"That's good, at least he really cares about you. I also remember that Novan was really nice to me. He's also handsome, isn't he?"

"Sorry?" Uti went blank for a few seconds.

"That's what I think, but Marcell is not inferior. What do you think? Novan is handsome, right?"

"Why are you asking me? And why that question?"

"I want to hear your answer, from your point of view. I'm sure everyone agrees with me, but somehow I want to hear the answer from your mouth, Ui."

Uti furrowed her brow, and Novan's face immediately came to mind. He had clear eyes, thick eyebrows, a sharp nose, full lips, black hair, and dimples when he smiled. Yes, Novan was indeed attractive, the boy chose a handsome face, with a good body too.

Speaking of which, Uti now remembered that she had fallen right on top of him. Damn, Uti remembered it again! She didn't want to, she was ashamed, she had almost erased it from her brain memory, thrown it away, buried it deeply. But unfortunately, the scene came back, surfacing again.

"Ti, what are you thinking? Why are you silent?"

"I don't know. Don't ask me, I don't know your question!" Uti was now walking very fast, almost like she was running.

Weeby was left behind, leaving the girl confused by Uti's strange behavior. Weeby scratched her hand and asked, "What's wrong with that kid? Uti! What's wrong with you, and how come I was left behind? Ish!" Weeby walked again, her feet stomping strongly on the floor.
