Truth Of The Forgotten Age Chapter 98

"Well, I've found where that magic source was coming from." Lilith said, hovering around Veronica, who was thinking over what happened earlier.

"And? What was it?"

"An amulet in the treasury. It has a very unique design, but I can't tell where it came from, let alone who the original owner was. But it is clear to me that it was originally created by, and perhaps used, by another Hakano."

"So what's the magic itself?"

"I'm unsure. We would need to get a hold of it, and potentially even use it to really make sure if what it does. It could be a simple protection charm, or it could make you grow a horse cock. And honestly, both are highly likely."

Veronica simply sighed in response, wondering why this near extinct race was so... weird. Though, at this point, it didn't really matter.

Things were slow going and quiet, even as everyone gathered for some quality tea time. Celia and Eleanora spent a while catching up, face to face. The others stayed quiet, only chiming in when spoken to.

To Veronica, though, she was examining everything about Celia. She was just a few years older than Eleanora, but she acted slightly younger. She was so, highly innocent that whenever something sexual came up, she seemed to not understand what was being said. And it really got Veronica going.

Someone like that would be a great addition... Veronica had to clear her head, taking a deep breath and remembering the Queen's words. Veronica was unsure about becoming Celia's consort, but if they need help involving the Elves, than she certainly at least agree to that much.

"Veronica Dornan, Cassandra Bright, and Aviris of the Kanhawsa, I request for you to go to the Forest of Vauxterel and work alongside them to root out the group that is trying to rekindle the flames of war. I apologize that I must go back on my promise, as Princess Eleanora must remain here. I would have sent you along with Hero Tisha, however, due to her delicate condition, she will be unable to join you as well."

After multiple days, the Queen had summoned them all formally to the throne room, in front of many, many nobles for their departure. And in that time, Veronica had not once spoken word about what Priscilla wanted from Veronica.

"To fill in for your missing comrades, you will be escorted by Captain Marianne Lasotte and Priestess Arachne. Do you have any objections about this?"

"No, Your Royal Majesty." The three said in unison.

"Very well. You will depart two days from now, at the break of dawn. You are dismissed."

Finally out of the throne room, the girls let out a collective sigh.

"I thought we were going to be executed for a moment there." Cassidy said, placing and hand on her heart.

"Great thing Elly took the time to teach us as much as she could. I do think think we would've survived even a minute in there without her help." Aviris said taking a deep breath.

Veronica stayed silent, her mind still on Priscilla's request. She had so much time to talk it over with everyone and she didn't. After all, it was a huge deal. Life changing too. Marriage, to not just the crown princess, but her younger sister as well.

It could be a good deal as long as Veronica can still do her adventuring stuff. Plus, she'd have access to this extremely large mansion, which if things progress as quickly as it has been, it could be a blessing in disguise.

Though, she still wanted to be absolutely sure if she should even take the deal. And she kept thinking about it when she joined the others in the carriage to leave for the Forest of Vauxterel.

Though, unlike last time, where she was lost in thought, she made sure to stay focused on the task at hand. Deal or no deal, it would all be pointless if another war were to break out.
