The Western Border was assidous towards the impending war. The first week, half of them already trained hard enough to make sure they could fully help the Wesleyeians. And just yesterday noon, Axel made an announcement about an all out war. He prepared a speech to state publicly–– to clear the mass complaints regarding his sudden decision without a clear explanation. But due to Sophie’s pregnancy, all of it were held adjourned, for a limited period of time.
The Alpha was engulfed with joy and pure bliss, that he promptly disclosed the news to the whole Kingdom the next morning. He wanted to share his rapture to the whole pack; as the heir of their tribe was soon to be born. Axel then ordered to stop the training, for he wanted to give Sophie and their unborn child a celebration and attention they deserved. He gave a word that there will be a feast.
All, still without Sophie’s awareness, as she remained ill and weak.
But despite Sophie’s pregnancy, there was still one more thing Mr. Roce found during the test. An information regarding Sophie’s condition, that he shared to the Alpha the same night he found out they had been blessed by the Goddess.
Usually, the early signs of pregnancy were dizziness, nausea, certain changes in the body, and sensitivity. But to Sophie’s case, her body immediately reacted more than it was suppose to. Sophie had high fever. She could not eat properly, and beside that, she also could not move very well. She was fragile.
Mr. Roce learned Sophie’s constant practices made an effect to her health. As she was carrying a child inside her womb, her energy was getting devided. Furthermore, the side effects of her often use of magic was starting to affect the baby. It was what led Sophie to suddenly fell.
Mr. Roce then advised for Sophie to stop until the baby was out, which the Alpha himself also agreed on to. He planned to be extra careful. Axel planned to assign Hugo again, once he came back, to guard Sophie. He estimated he’ll be back in a day or so, together with the Terrance, and the others who went alongside him.
For the meantime, Flora will have to assist and help Sophie, like the usual. Just until Terrance return.
On the other side, whilst both male and female wolves on the Kingdom were busy preparing for a feast, Sophie, who was in the Palace and resting, finally gained consciousness.
Sophie slowly opened her eyes, after a deep and long slumber. Her a little blurry vision hit the chandelier. How long did I slept? She wondered as she immediately felt her numb limbs. Her lips pursed, feeling the dryness of her throat. She felt thirsty.
“Flora?” Sophie called a name that could assist her.
Sophie was used of her Alpha’s absence. Usually, when she wake up, he was always gone. Flora was always the one waiting for her. It had been for a long time that she started picking a habit of calling her name the moment she woke up.
Sophie shut her eyes tight for a fraction of seconds. She then felt her skin mildly burning, and shortly realized it was the work of the sunlight. She turned her head, shifting her gaze in the process. The sun’s rays was penetrating the window–– glazing unto the skin of her face and arms. She lifted her hand to cover her eyes from the blinding sunbeam.
“Flora?” Sophie’s forehead crumpled. Still. No one responded.
She tried to sit. Closing her eyes as she felt a little discomfort when she used her left arm to support her body. Her fever must have gone low, as she could only feel a slight disturbance of dizziness. But what topped that was the pain in her wrist and back. Breathing heavily, she pushed back her hair, and looked down to her body.
She was completely wearing a different cloth. This was not what she had on when she slept. Did Flora change it for her?
How about Axel? She did not see him come home. She was too asleep and sick to even feel him sleep beside her. Did he even go home?
Questions pondered in Sophie’s mind. The sun was out now. She remembered falling asleep right after she ate the soup Flora made her. And that was… yesterday.
Realizing the her deep slumber must have been the reason behind her numb legs, she moved and slowly went out of the bed. She was feeling better now, in comparison to her state yesterday. Sophie held her head, caressing it as she headed towards the door.
She was hungry.
“Flora?”
“M-my Lady?” Walking in between the two pillars near the lair, Sophie saw Flora walking with a trolley food cart occupying her hands. “My Lady!”
“Flora…” Sophie’s steps halted. “What did you make for breakfast?”
“You should still be resting!” Flora’s voice was alarmed. She fastened her steps, pushing the trolley, to reach her.
“Please, go back.”
Sophie nodded. “I’m okay now, Flora. I feel a little dizzy, but I feel much better.”
“The Alpha strictly forbid us to let you out of your room, My Lady.” Flora lead the way, and let go of the trolley to open the door. “And I am told to report to him when you wake up.”
Report to him? Sophie’s brows met. Did it mean he knew she was sick?
“He must have been worried…” Sophie mumbled. “Tell him, I’m already awake. I also feel much better now so there is nothing else for him to worry about.”
Sophie followed Flora inside. She shut the door closed as soon they entered. She trudged in to her bed.
“I will, My Lady. But you must eat first so you can take your medicine.”
“Medicine?”
“Yes.” Flora replied, as she took a plate on the second tray beneath the first. “Mr. Roce, the physician who checked up on you left you three dose of medicine.”
“Physician..” Sophie tilted her head. “So, I was checked by a physician. It’s probably why my wrist hurts.”
“Yes, My Lady. He injected you the medicine after he was done.”
Injected?
“What?”
“It is the physician’s prescription that you take your medicine through injection.”
Sophie’s face crumbled. Injection? Did that mean she has to take the medicine through injection, in three consecutive days?
“I don’t think that’s necessary, Flora.” Sophie winced.
Flora placed the plate on the table. She pointed it with her hands, so her grace can start eating. She really prepared a lot, since she was not able to eat properly yesterday. Not to mention, she was pregnant now. Basically, she was not just eating for herself, but for the baby as well.
Flora let out a smile.
Right now, Sophie still didn’t know about it. She also wouldn’t dare tell her. It was something the Alpha should tell Sophie herself, and she would not spoil that. Nevertheless, she was excited. She was happy. Now that Sophie was pregnant with the Alpha’s baby, their future will now be promised. That they wouldn’t end like Rebecca and Axel, and that Rebecca’s plan will fall to ruin.
“Worry not, My Lady. Mr. Roce said it is one of the healer’s nature to fend off physical pain. So the injection will not hurt you.”
“Really?”
Flora nodded her head. “So, I suggest you should eat now, My Lady.”
“That’s strange. I get hurt when I get hit, though.” Sophie stood up from the bed, to sit on the chair beside the table. “You have to make sure, Flora. Because I hate needles.”
