Chapter # 55

Tyler POV:-

I was playing piano for my sweet sister and loving wife, the melody released directly from my heart as the lyrics reached them to the core to let them know how I feel about them.

Smiling they both looked at me with extreme elation overflowing in my heart.

When I have them beside me, I find my life completed, holding my heartbeat captive is their one gaze.

Watching my world right in front of me, desiring nothing but to live there for the rest of my life, existing for her only.

“Aww… Look how he is looking at you, Candice.” Kathrine grinned, pushing her by the shoulder, increasing her blush.

Covering her face in shyness, she looked down.

“You two are my world.” I said.

Kathrine’s mouth gaped, I rarely expressed my love for her but the brief moment meant everything.

Curling her lips in a smile and she nodded, “Mine too.” She whispered.

“And now these two too!” She chirped, turning to Candice.

“I am so excited to become an Aunt.” She grinned.

“Candice.” I called her.

“Yeah…?” Her voice came soft and melodious to my ears.

“I love you.” Giggling she replied, “I love you too.”

I love this eternal reprieve where I am hers and she is mine.

The interlude which will last for eternity, taking us to the world where nothing could part us.

I am glad that I am hers and nothing could take her away from me. Blessed to still receive her love after what happened.

After overcoming many obstacles, I am with her.

“Your heart told mine that you have fallen for me.” I winked with a smirk.

“Woo!” Kathrine cheered.

“Before things go further, get a room!” She shouted, making me frown.

“Great idea.” I smiled and stood up, “Tyler, what-”

Before she could say anything further, I picked her bridal style.

“You sure are heavy now.” I said, taking her with me.

“Make sure not to do-” I cut her off, “I am not!”

We went to our room, flustered and Candice gave me a stern look, ordering, “Put me down.” And I complied.

“Kathrine came here after such a while and you are doing this. Go and spend time with her.” She scolded, narrowing her eyes at me.

“Come on, she wouldn’t mind.”

“But I did, now go and talk to her.” She commanded.

“Why?” I asked coming closer.

“Dear husband,” She smirked, holding my collar.

“Do you want to sleep outside or have no lunch?” Her smirk grew wider, letting me go.

I smiled innocently, clearing my throat, “Where is my sweet sister?”

And I left followed by the sound of laughter from Candice.

***

It was Candice’s final month and I was bursting from exhilaration, the inexplicable rush of rapture to think about the child, about starting my new life with her.

Everything was going according to the plan, just a few more steps and I will be away from the darkness and we will be together… forever.

I was in our room, getting ready to sleep but Candice entered and sat beside me, holding my hands.

Determination of something shone in her eyes, arching a brow, “What happened?”

Taking a deep breath and smiled and began to say, “Tyler… I know we are going to start our lives anew, but to start it we have to complete the past. Please don’t lie to me anymore.”

Cautiously, I asked, “What do you.. Mean?”

“I know you loved me before our marriage… and I believe even before we met too.” She said sternly, making my heart skip a beat.

Pulling my hands, almost sweating I excused.

“N-No, who is inducing such thoughts in your mind? I-It’s nothing like this. Have you forgotten how we met?”

To my empty words which can’t convince my heart, let alone hers, She called my name strictly, “Tyler.”

“What?” I asked nervously.

“What is it that you can’t tell me?” She asked softly.

‘I don’t want to be known as a freak!’

“What? It was nothing…” I shrugged.

“I deserve to know Tyler! Tell me.” She demanded angrily.

“What should I tell you when there’s nothing?” I replied in the same tone.

“Fine then, don’t talk to me until you think I deserve to know.” She stomped her feet on the ground, visibly furious and left.

“Candice. Listen. Cand-” She left, closing the door.

Sighing I shook my head, holding my temples. “What have I done?” I asked myself.

‘Can I tell her?’

Later, she entered, not even sparing a glance at me and laid on her side, emitting rage from her very being.

Forming my lips in a thin line, I called her, “Candice…”

No answer.

“Candice…” I called her again, leaning down to her neck but no reaction.

“You wouldn’t even look at me?” I asked, trailing my finger on her back. Again, no reply.

Exhaling, I moved her hands and shifted on top of her. “Get away.” She pouted, narrowing her eyes at me in irk.

“No.” I smirked. “I don’t want to talk to you.”

“Hmm?... Why?” I asked, kissing her jawline.

“Because I want to know.”

“You truly want to know?” I asked, pulling away, looking down, voice deluged in sorrow.

Nodding she sat up as well, putting her hand over mine reassuringly.

“I do, Tyler… I want to know what you have done for me. Not from others but from you. How, when you know me.. Please tell me everything.” She whispered.

“I don’t know what you will think about me after knowing.” I muttered apprehensively.

Loud enough for her to hear and let her know I am distressed to think but she has firm resolution to force it out.

“It was the talk of the past, this will change nothing. I just want to know.” She smiled.

“You don’t know what limits I have crossed for you, Candice.” I told her.

“Then tell me.” She insisted and with a final sigh, I began to tell her… everything.

“This happened three years ago.”
