“Your Majesty, it is nice to see you again.” She bowed her head to show the Alpha King respect. Veron was holding her by the waist and helping her to have the strength to start the drama she was supposed to start. She tried her best to form a broad smile and glanced at Veron, who was watching his every move.
Helene was standing beside the Alpha King. Exhaustion was evident on her face when Veronica gave her a look. She felt terrible for her, especially when she noticed she had dark circles below her eyes. Helene didn’t react violently, for she knew her father would punish her for making Veronica angry.
“It is nice to see you, too, Veronica. I was surprised when Veron informed me about your sudden visits. He said he would announce something important, and I would make sure my schedule would be clear for you!” The Alpha King said to move closer to Veronica, held her hand, and kissed it.
Helene widened her eyes. She couldn’t believe his father had done that to Veronica while Veron was trying to prevent his anger towards his father. It seemed the Lycan King was interested in Veronica, and he couldn’t hide it anymore.
“You are always welcome here.” The Alpha King added. He pulled Veronica away from Veron as if Veronica was only alone when she went to his pack. He was so pleased to see her beauty that he couldn’t stop himself from greeting him at the entrance of his pack. Veronica was pleased. Her eyes twinkled. She already knew what the Alpha King’s intention was for her.
She wasn’t stupid to see how he intended to intimidate her. It seemed the Alpha King wanted to use her to fight with Alpha Jaxon. She plastered a seductive smile when the Alpha King acted like Veron and Helene weren’t with them.
“What is happening? How do you bring her here?” Helene couldn’t stop herself from asking Veron. She sensed something was wrong, especially when she last saw Veronica. She could still remember how she became smug at her, and now Veronica was having a relationship with her brother. What made her more surprised was how her father acted towards Veronica. She was disgusted to see how her father tried to flirt with Jaxon’s mate for the sake of the throne. Her hands clenched in anger and jealousy.
“Why are you asking me? Is it you need to be thankful that he will stop torturing you since Veronica is with me now.” Veron couldn’t believe how ungrateful Helene was to Veronica.
Veronica didn’t think twice but to help them despite what they had done. He didn’t like how Helene was trying to be a bitch. He groaned and tried to stop his wolf from getting outraged at his ungrateful sister!
“You know how I dislike her, and now you’re telling me she’s why Dad kept torturing me? I think it’s Jaxon!”
“If Veronica is with me, Jaxon can be with you. Are you using your mind?”
“So, do you want me to be thankful to her?”
“I’m thankful you already know how bitch you are, Helene. I’m trying to save your ass.” Veron couldn’t stop feeling irritated with his sister. He clenched his fist, and his pale skin turned pinkish in anger. “Don’t do anything stupid if you don’t want to get fuck by those Alphas again.”
Helene bit her lip. It was the first time Veron got mad at her, and it was about Veronica again. She hardly sighed to stop herself from talking back. She was exhausted, and she didn’t like to get mistreated once again. “Okay! I promise I won’t do anything. I’m sorry!”
Hearing how Helen apologized for her mistake was such a surprise to Veron. He only nodded and tapped Helene on her shoulder. They both followed their father, who acted as if they were not existing to him. Helene only glanced at Veron when she caught how her father held Veronica in her hand. She noticed how Veronica tried to control her temper and didn’t do anything to provoke the Alpha King.
“What’s the sudden announcement? We are excited to hear it!” The Alpha King squeezed Veronica’s hand while he was talking to her. Veron gnashed his teeth and sat on the vacant chair beside Veronica. He seemed displeased, but he didn’t dare to fight back.
“Yeah, we don’t know what’s the sudden announcement. Veronica, why don’t you share with us?” Helene tried to act naturally. She thought if she acted so kindly, the Alpha King would notice they might be planning something against him.
Veronica smirked and held Veron’s hand, making the Alpha King stop holding her hand. She looked at Veron, full of love, which made Veron look away. “We are here to announce that we are preparing our mating ceremony. It means my pack will emerge to Veron’s pack. Well, I’m lucky to have Veron by my side.”
“Why is it so sudden?” The Alpha King couldn’t stop himself from asking. He didn’t like what he had heard. He couldn’t believe that Veron was the one who got Veronica. The truth was, he was aware that Veronica had a talent to be the best Luna. That was the reason why he wanted her to be his Luna.
Veronica blushed and squeezed Veron’s hand to tell him she needed help. She didn’t know why Veron wasn’t talking and tried to explain to his father.
“Alpha, we decided to get mated soon because we realize we are bound to be together. After our first night, Veronica realized how he loved me, especially when I made her choose between me and Alpha Jaxon. She’s living with me in the part, and we are in the same room. I love Veronica.” He explained with all of his heart. He couldn’t stop but, to be honest with his father, even though he knew it was part of the act.
“What about Alpha Jaxon? Did he already know about this?” The alpha King asked again. He only wanted to ensure no one was trying to deceive him.
“We separated our ways. I’m sorry, Alpha. I don’t want to talk about him because what is important to me is my mating ceremony with Veron. I already announced my plans to my parents.”
“What do they say? You know what, Veronica, you are lucky to be chosen by my son. He’s kind, and I know he will be a good father to your upcoming pups. He’s unlike Jaxon, who has no heart regarding your child. I don’t mind if you already have a child with him, but I’m happy you are with my son. He will love and cherish you for the rest of his life.” The Alpha King tried to calm himself and acted as if he was supportive. He disliked the idea that Veron would be mated with her, but he didn’t have a choice.
He could do anything to stop and delay the mating ceremony while doing his best to make Veronica attach to him. He thought that Veron didn’t deserve to be with someone like Veronica. He knew his son's inability to be with a woman like her.
“Thank you, Alpha. I’m pleased you don’t mind if I’m connected with Alpha Jaxon while living with him under the same roof. For now, we are trying to know each other more. Veron is such the best man for me. He’s why I’m still alive and sitting here with you.” Veronica flashed her sweet grin when she saw how the Alpha King’s face crumpled. She paused and added, “He’s lucky to have you as his father. I will be lucky to have a close bond with you.”
“Oh! Veronica, my son, is lucky to have you. Since you said, you aren’t with Alpha Jaxon anymore. I hope you don’t mind if he will be here with us.” The Alpha King twitched his lips and didn’t get a response from Veronica.
“Alpha Jaxon, do you hear everything? I hope you will not get mad at my son after Veronica chooses him.”
Veronica was stunned but acted like she wasn’t affected when the Alpha King uttered Jaxon’s name. Helene forced her smile at her and stood up, making her glance where she was going. She was surprised to see Jaxon, who was glaring at her, and it seemed he wanted to hurt her.
