“You fucking lose my respect, Alpha Jaxon. You are the most manipulative man I know. I don't think I will reply to you because of Morgan.” She almost stopped breathing when she spoke those words. Her eyes became fierce, which made Jaxon pause instantly.
“Instead of apologizing for making me feel stupid, you don't even do it. You are using everything to blackmail me because you can't live without sex. You're so disgusting! I would rather sleep with Veron than you.” She added. She didn't mean to say those words, but because of anger, she couldn't stop herself either.
“Then do it... Veronica, once I find out you sleep with him, I will make sure this pack will be like ashes, and you will not see even his shadow anymore!” Jaxon's eyes gleamed. He couldn't accept Veronica had uttered he was disgusting. “You will regret that you do this.”
“Then make me regret it. This is why I don't want to get back to you. I don't like to be mated with someone who likes to control everything about me. Why don't you start humbling yourself? Then I might change my mind?”
“I only do that because I love you! I know I'm such a bastard. This is how I know what love is.” Jaxon whispered those words with so much pain that made Veronica dumbfounded. She closed her eyes when she felt the thousands of needles stabbed in her heart. She swallowed when she noticed how Jaxon's eyes turned to bloodshot.
“I don't know how to love you without controlling you. I'm scared to lose you, Veronica. I don't know what I have felt; I don't understand it.” He added.
All his life, he was born to be loved and clever. He didn't know the word jealousy of Veron wouldn't stop chasing Veronica when they were still together. He was confused because those feelings were very different. He wanted to be with Veronica as long as he lived. He thought he would die once Veronica left him. He was sure of it.
“You are the breath that I need every day. You're killing me while you are here. I want you back, Veronica. I always want you to know that I will be crazy once you make that threat. I'm not perfect.”
“Please... Come back to me...” Jaxon spoke those words in a hoarse tone. He closed his eyes and let his tears come out of his eyes. He seemed he was the most fragile man, and as the known Alpha, he couldn't accept that what he felt was his weakness. “I promise I will be a good man for you, for Morgan too. I can learn how to cook, to do everything for you to make you happy.”
“J-Jaxon...” Veronica didn't know what she would say. She bit her lips as she closed her eyes. “You can't do those things.”
“I can. I'm willing to learn. I can do everything to get you back in my arms. I'm desperate.”
Veronica didn't repeat anything. She took her wine glass before she tasted it. She didn't remove her gaze to Jaxon, which made Jaxon gulp.
“I want you to meet me tomorrow. The Alpha King will not know it as long as you will be with Helene.”

“Helene doesn't know where Morgan is,” Veron spoke while thinking about what she would do next. She wanted to make sure that Morgan was with Jaxon.
She sighed, which made Veron turn his head in her direction with worry.
“Veronica, do you and Alpha Jaxon talk?” He hesitated when he uttered those words, but seeing how Veronica wasn't with herself worried him. He knew there was a possibility that Jaxon and Veronica would talk while he was with Helene, but when they came back, they were silent.
He was sure that they both didn't have a quickie inside his pack because he noticed how upset Veronica was.
“Yes, we talked. He wants me to meet him. He knows where Morgan is.” Veronica honestly replied.
Veron frowned. Perhaps Helene didn't know about Morgan because Jaxon always knew where he was; he nodded slowly.
“Then meet him. I know how you missed Morgan; I can help you with that. I can go with you in Alpha Jaxon's pack, and you can leave me in his pack with Helene.” He suggested.
“Veron, I don't know what I will---”
“You already know what you are supposed to do, Veronica. I know how you missed your son, and maybe Morgan missed you, too. It's better if you will visit him. It's been five years since you don't see him.”
Veronica bit her lips when they trembled. She closed her eyes to hide the tears that were about to come out from her eyes. She hesitated because she thought Jaxon might only use Morgan to get her back in his pack. But... What would happen if Jaxon was honestly telling her the truth?
“Okay, I want you to come with me, so I will ensure that Alpha Jaxon is not trying to deceive me.”
Veron chuckled. He shook his head and realized why Veronica was worried. She didn't trust Alpha Jaxon anymore. She thought that Jaxon might have caged her in his pack.
“Veronica, he's your mate. I don't think he will lie, primarily if it's about his son. You should give him the benefit of the doubt. He might be telling you the truth because even Helene didn't know that Alpha King ordered to kill Morgan.”
“I think it's Uriel. I heard he has an evil father who always controls him.”
“Yeah, he is. So we must ensure that no one will think we are only acting.” Veron smirked. He was happy for Veronica and sad at the same time. He knew that Veronica might be back to Veronica for the sake of her son.
