Chapter Investigated

She was stunned and didn't notice Jaxon had already left her. Her mouth parted, and she watched Jaxon walking while he was dragging her. She closed her eyes, trying to maintain her calm, when she heard how her heart beat so fast for him.

“J-Jaxon, d-do you know where Morgan is?” she stammered.

“Yes. I already know because I went there before I told you he's here.”

She wanted to complain about why Jaxon didn't bother to go with her to visit Morgan, but she never did it. She didn't want to sound ungrateful, so she remained silent.

She let Jaxon pull her, and they both stopped at the front of the tree that Alpha Gerry had mentioned. Her eyes fortearsears when she already see Morgan, iso was staring at the sky while he has a notebook in his hand.

Jaxon looked away. He couldn't bear to see her crying. He gently pushed her so she would start walking towards Morgan. She sniffed and swallowed hard when Morgan didn't notice she was with him.

She slowly walked, making sure she wouldn't create any sound. She hardly breathed to calm herself even more when her heart was pounding too fast. Seeing Morgan grow up without her made her feel sad, but she was thankful he was still alive, and she had a chance to enjoy their many days together.

As she walked, she felt it was the longest walk she had ever done. She gulped once again when she noticed Morgan was putting something in his notebook. It was true that Morgan looked even more like Jaxon. He was like a carbon copy of his father.

She stopped when Morgan slowly moved his head to turn in her direction. She plastered a smile when Morgan was taken aback to see her. Morgan was surprised, but his tears flowed down on his cheek.

“M-Mom…” He stuttered. Fear was evident in his tone when he had always imagined he would meet his mother again. He unhurriedly stepped forward, making her not to do anything.

He was crying silently. He hoped they would finally meet again because Veronica might blame herself for losing him. He was the one who did it because he only wanted to help.

“Mom…” He repeated.

“Morgan…” She called his name, making him sob. He rushed towards her and hugged her tightly. He thought he was having an imagination again. He missed Veronica so much. “Oh, my son! Morgan!”

She cried while she was embracing him tightly. She was scared that someone might steal Morgan again from her. Morgan's face was full of tears; he hugged her back and didn't mind if Veronica would see how he had broken down.

“I thought I would not see you now. Did Daddy tell you that I'm here?” Morgan asked. Veronica bit her lips to suppress her sobbing. Seeing how her child grew up without her made her think Morgan matured at a young age.

“Yes. He's the one who tells me,” she answered.

“I don't understand why he needs to tell you. He informed me that I should wait for you.”

“Perhaps he wants to prove to me that he already knows where you are because I don't believe in him.”

Morgan chuckled. He didn't remove his hand on her and continued hugging her until he wanted to. He didn't notice Jaxon was watching his every reaction, and Jaxon felt a thousand needles poking at his heart.

Seeing how Morgan is getting emotional because of Veronica made him question how he had become a father to him. Morgan didn't bother to cry in front of him. But… when it was Veronica, he didn't mind letting Veronica witness how he felt weak.

“You and Daddy are still not yet okay. That's a good idea.” Morgan exclaimed when he noticed Jaxon's presence. Jaxon scowled and was about to growl when Morgan arched his brow at him while he was hugging Veronica.

“Yes, tell your mother, then I can ask Alpha Gerry to make her daughter marry another boy out there. It's your choice.” Jaxon gritted his teeth, trying to relax himself. He didn't care if he might be considered childish; he had fought with Morgan.

“Why? Morgan, you are still my baby!” She shrieked. She wasn't prepared to hear those words. She hadn't been with him for five years, and now she listened to some words as if Morgan was ready to be mated with someone.

Morgan was taken aback. He became silent. He didn't manage to talk back to his father, for he knew Jaxon might do what he threatened.

“Alpha Jaxon, are you blackmailing my son in front of me?” She said with disbelief. She raised her brow to him, which made Jaxon look away from her.

Jaxon felt embarrassed. He couldn't believe Veronica was trying to intimidate him while he was with Morgan. He gave Morgan a dark look when he slowly chuckled as if he was trying not to laugh at him.

“Morgan, baby! I want to talk to you.” Veronica whispered. She kissed Morgan's forehead.

Morgan just only closed his eyes. He missed his mother. That's why he would let her be sweet on him.

“How are you here? Did they treat you right?” Veronica couldn't stop herself from getting worried about Morgan. She checked where he was staying and saw it was a small room with a lot of food. It seemed they made sure that Morgan would still eat on time.

“Mom, I'm wonderful. You don't need to worry because they care for me well here.”

“You are my baby. You are the only son that I have. Tell me who will take you here.”

Morgan blinked his eyes. He didn't want to say it was Uriel, but he didn't like to lie also. He sighed.

“You won't need to get mad at Uriel. I only tried to help him.”

Veronica gasped. “It is Uriel!”

He nodded.

“I will kick his fucking balls.” Veronica gnashed her teeth. She could still remember how she became almost insane because of Morgan, while Uriel knew how she suffered.

“Mom, don't. It's Uriel who doesn't like to do this, okay? His father wants to kill me, and he doesn't like the idea of killing me. That's why he made me act. He killed me. I was thankful that he made his promise to me.”

“Do you know I almost lost my mind because you are not with me? After you lost, I jumped off the cliff.” Veronica didn't want to let Morgan know about it but didn't have a choice. She didn't want Morgan to repeat what he had done.

Morgan's mouth hung open. He couldn't believe that Veronica almost lost her life because of him.
