Chapter Reality

Melissa's POV

I yawned tiredly and slowly opened my eyes. To my surprise, the ceiling of the chamber shone right at me. I sat up only to realize that I laid on the bed.

Still confused on how I got there, I glanced at the other side of the bed, it was empty, there was no sign of Nelson at all and at that point, the events of last night began to flow through me.

"Nelson '' I muttered and tried to get up from the bed but a familiar voice stopped me.

"He is fine, just resting"

I turned to my side only to find Conri seated not far away from the bed with his hands folded, he had a strange expression in his eyes which made me uncomfortable.

He smiled softly, "It's good that you are finally awake, for a moment, we thought we lost you both…"

"What happened after you found me and Nelson last night?" I suddenly asked cutting him short.

Conri raised a brow, "You passed out last night, I guess you were stressed out from the intense walk you did deep into the woods but I must appreciate your bravery. If not for you, Nelson could have been dead now and the whole pack will be placed in mourning and war, it's good that you were able to find him before I did" he said, a sad look appearing on his face.

I watched Conri silently not saying a word at first, gently, I glanced down at the dress I wore. Clearly, it was not the dress I wore before I furthered into the woods.

"Who got me dressed?"

"Your maid, What's her name again?..."

"Patricia," I muttered, feeling relieved.

"Yes! Patricia! To my surprise, she was still awake when we got to the pack last night and was clearly waiting for you at the front door of this chamber" he smiled charmingly, "It's really good to see that you have a maid who really cares for you, I guess she knew of your escape out of the pack lady night" Saying this, Conri got on his feet, he walked towards where I sat, our eyes locked together.

"We owe you a lot Melissa, the whole Fridolf pack does. Tinox will love to see you after you have taken the proper rest your body needs. If not for you, only the moon goddess knows what might be the fate of the pack…" he sighs sadly, "It's bad how stubborn Nelson can be. If not for his stubbornness, nothing as this could have happened but with you helping him, I am sure that he will be able to see the reason that the moon goddess didn't just select you to be his Luna for nothing. I know that you have a purpose to serve in his life which is something that you proved last night and indeed, I am happy you did" he smiled but as I stared at him and listened to his words, I couldn't help but feel a strange sensation filling my body.

I smiled back at him, my head was aching little and I didn't know why the urge to just have my eyes on Nelson overshadowed me.

Conri held my hands, "Do not forget to calm me anytime you need something…" he gently caressed the back of my hand with his thumb, "Melissa" he called out softly.

I narrowed my gaze wondering what he might have on his mind this time.

"You never showed any feeling of care towards Nelson ever since you were married to him but when I found you yesterday, it was obvious that you indeed do care for him"

My heart skipped a bit hearing Conri words, embarrassed, I turned my gaze away from him trying to hide the colors that were draining off my face.

"Don't exaggerate Conri, I only did what any one in my shoes could do" I replied trying to hide my husky voice.

Conri smiled, "Anyone but not you Melissa. I know how much you hate Nelson, how you long to be freed from him but last night emotions were totally different…" a friend appeared on his face, "And come to think of it Melissa, how were you able to locate where Nelson was?" He asked, watching me intensively.

At that point, I didn't know what to say because I didn't know the answer myself. It just happened, a force drew me to him and his scent brought me close to where he laid. The whole thing still seem like a big mystery to me, a puzzle that I couldn't crack

Seeing how uncomfortable his question made me feel, Conri patted my hand, "It's alright, I don't want to stress you, you need rest so it's best you have it. We can always talk later about this"

The door of the chamber opened and Anabelle walked in with a worried filled face.

"Oh my goodness" she muttered, placing a hand on her face as she quickly walked towards the bed. Not waiting for me to utter a word, Anabelle wrapped her arms all around me giving me a comforting hug and at that moment, I was glad to really see her.

"Melissa, I was so scared when I heard what happened, I just left the pack inn and I am glad that my brother is fine, I heard what you did to my brother, how you saved his life" she said all at once with tears welling up her face.

"Melissa did a good job" Conri chipped in and at once, I acknowledged his presence, "I will have to leave now, it's best I let you ladies to yourselves" With a smile and slight nod, Conri walked out of the room leaving I with Anabelle.

"How did you know about this?" I quickly asked her as we were alone.

"Oh course I will!" Her eyes lit up, "You are my friend and sister in law. You also saved my brother's life not minding the hatred he has shown to you all these months…" a tear rolled down her cheek but she was quick enough to wipe it off, "You have a good heart Melissa, a very good heart and I hope my brother realizes this when he eventually wakes up. Moreover, the news of what you did for him is all over the pack and I know that the werewolves of this pank might use this into finally accepting you as their Luna because you saving my brother who is their Alpha isn't an ordinary job to carry out"

For a minute, I didn't know what to say. I nodded at her words looking at the bed sheet which covered my lower body. I knew that the pack never wanted a human as their Luna but getting to hear that I might be accepted feels really good in a way that I can't explain it.

To my surprise, Anabelle wrapped her arms around me again and began to sing uncontrollably.

"I am so sorry, this shouldn't have happened, it shouldn't have! I am so sorry for the pain Jeremy pack has done to you and my brother. The whole thing is just against us and it's driving me insane" she wept bitterly, her head still pressed against my chest.

I didn't utter a word but slowly stroked her back, my eyes not leaving her.
