Diana was in the midst of a heated battle, focused on the enemies surrounding her. She was unaware that Calhoun was searching for her, and even more unaware that Eugene had seen Calhoun and wanted to kill her before he could find her. As Eugene raised his sword against her, Diana felt a sense of alarm and turned quickly.
Her lack of observation proved to be a fatal mistake as Eugene's sword struck her. Diana was caught off guard and had no chance to defend herself. She assumed she would die but she didn't feel a single thing. She didn't feel the pain of Eugene's sword tearing her skin and sinking into her flesh.
She opened her shut eyes and was surprised to find Eugene lying a few feet away from her. She looked around, she was getting weird stares from everyone. She didn't know what had happened. But also, she couldn't ask. It wasn't the right time for questions, so she resumed the fight.
Eugene lay on the ground, his failed attempt at murdering Diana still fresh in his mind. He was surprised at how she had defended herself, despite not knowing he was behind her. What was more intriguing was the surge of energy that seemed to protect her unconsciously.
As he lay there, Eugene couldn't help but wonder what had caused this energy to manifest itself. Was it an instinct for survival or something more supernatural? He pondered this as he watched Diana continue to battle, unscathed and seemingly unaware of the danger she had just faced.
"What is this sorcery?" He whispered to himself. "The power, it is so strong. So raw... I can almost taste it."
"I have to figure this out. I have to know what it is. I cannot let this slide. No, no. I cannot just allow her to do it for free."
Despite his failure, Eugene couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Diana than met the eye. He knew he would have to be more careful in his next attempt, as he had underestimated her strength and resilience.
Eugene vowed to learn more about this mysterious energy that had protected her and to use it to his advantage in his next attempt at taking her life.
Calhoun had arrived on the battlefield with a clear mission in mind - to find Diana. However, his attention was diverted when he spotted Eugene skulking around. He kept a close eye on the man and witnessed him sneaking up behind Diana to behead her.
Just as Calhoun was about to shout out a warning, he felt a sudden surge of energy that pushed him a few feet away from where he stood. He quickly gathered himself and got up, racing towards her in an instant. He stopped short when he noticed that she was still alive. Diana was safe, but he couldn't help but feel concerned about her newfound powers.
"What sort of sorcery is this?" He hummed. "Diana, who are you? What are you hiding beneath your cloak?"
As he watched Diana, he couldn't help but wonder who she was. Her abilities were clearly beyond anything he had ever seen before. He knew that he needed to learn more about her and her powers if he was going to keep her safe from those who sought to harm her.
Despite his concerns, Calhoun was grateful that Diana had survived the attack. He knew that he had to be more vigilant in the future, and he vowed to protect her at all costs. As he looked out over the battlefield, he knew that the fight was far from over. But with Diana by his side, he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
He completed his walk to where she was. When she noticed him, he gave her a smile in hopes that she would return it or at least be relieved to see him. Diana however seemed to look past him and continued her fight, ignoring him.
"Diana," Calhoun called. "Did you not see me?"
Diana grunted. "Now is not the time to play love, Cal. These creatures were formed by Eugene. They can't die."
"Can't die? That's impossible." Calhoun said. He took out his sword and slit one of the creatures from his head down until his body was completely divided in two. The creature shook, spilling blood everywhere, and then fell to the ground stiffened.
"See... I told you." Calhoun said. "That's..." He was interrupted when he noticed the two halves, growing into two separate bodies and springing up from the ground.
"Impossible." He whispered. "what the hell?!"
"Hate to break it to you, but I told you," Diana said. "Now forget about love, and let's finish this war."
Calhoun nodded. "This war could be finished but am I the only one who feels like their creator just wants to tire us out?"
"What can we do? They won't let us get to him." Diana complained. Two jumped at her from behind and before Calhoun could swat them away, the same energy spread out from her body and sent them flying far away until they smashed into a thick tree. Calhoun watched to see if they would resurrect but they didn't.
He turned back to stare at Diana. His brows were etched together in mild confusion. In his heart, the confusion was more than mild.
"Cal, quit staring at me," Diana warned. "Come on, focus!"
"Diana, do you feel anything?"
Diana rolled her eyes. She stopped fighting and turned to glare at him.
"I'm sorry, do you see the battlefield as a place for love confession? Even if it is, can we not do it during a tough war like this?"
"I'm not talking about love." Calhoun refuted. "I mean, do you feel anyhow? Maybe stronger or weaker."
Diana thought about it. "I find it weird cause you know, holding this child while fighting felt like I would tire out but I don't seem to."
Calhoun nodded. Could it be the child protecting her? If it was then he had to find out who the child's father was. He just had to figure it out.
"That boy..." Calhoun began. He noticed four of those re-resurrected creatures running towards her and he decided to watch. Only Diana caught his gaze in time and turned to find them coming. Before she could raise her hand, she found them flying backward and being smashed to mash. She stared open-eyed in shock. Slowly, she turned back to Calhoun.
Diana was in a state of fear and confusion. She had just warded off some creatures without even touching them. She was surprised by the surge of energy she felt around her. She assumed it was because of Eugene's tricks, but she never thought she could be the source of the energy.
Diana was unsure of how to control this energy. She didn't know where it came from or how it came about. She was left wondering how she could control it.
The situation was daunting for Diana. She was afraid of the unknown and the power she possessed. She needed to find a way to control it before it controlled her.
"Calm down, Diana. I don't think this is from you." Calhoun said. "I think it's from the boy."
"What?" Diana whispered. She was no longer bothered about being attacked since she now knew she was covered. But if the energy could smash them beyond resurrection, if she could control it, she could harness them against the soldiers and even Eugene himself.
"Listen to me... Has this ever happened to you before?"
"Was there ever a situation that called for it?" Diana returned. She couldn't believe it.
Calhoun sighed. "Haven't you always been in the army? During other fights, did you ever have to ward off so many people before they got to you?"
"No." She shook her head. "It has never happened."
"Well, have you also ever taken Coco to war?"
"Never," Diana replied. "Today's own happened because Eugene and his soldiers ambushed me from the tent."
"Yeah, sorry I left without saying a word. I had to quickly inform my soldiers about Eugene's plot." Calhoun said, rubbing the back of his neck. He looked around them to find many of his men, lying dead or injured in the snow, despite being in their wolf form.
"Calhoun now is not the time," Diana replied. "We need to find a way to harness these abilities."
"You can't harness it, it doesn't belong to you but the boy," Calhoun said.
Diana huffed. "He's my son!"
"Exactly," Calhoun said. "Your son, not you."
"My son and I are one." Diana refuted. She wasn't going to accept being separated from Coco just because Calhoun felt otherwise.
"Yeah? What would his father have to say about it?" Calhoun taunted. Although he didn't mean it to make her pissed.
Diana went silent. She stared into his eyes. Calhoun immediately felt bad about what he said and he apologized instantly. Diana chuckled.
"Come on, if we can ward them off then how about I ask Coco to lend me his powers to use?"
"You can try."
Diana peeked into the sling she made and Coco came into her view. The boy's hands were somehow glowing. She smiled.
"Hi, baby... I can see you have some pretty cool powers, how about you lend Mommy some so that she can use them to fight the enemies better?"
Calhoun crossed his arms over his chest, waiting to see what would happen. Coco placed his hand on Diana's chest and she felt that energy fill her.
"Calhoun, please get Julitta and ask her to take Coco to the castle and keep him safe," Diana whispered. With the way she was getting filled with energy, it felt as if she was going to burst any time soon.
Eugene watched from the distance, he didn't know what was going on. All he wanted was for Calhoun and Diana to be separated. He wanted to test out the powers he had seen from her.
Soon after Calhoun left, he made his way to Diana, sneaking up behind her. He swiftly moved to stab her with his dagger but rather than the dagger sinking into her skin, it began to melt.
Eugene quickly let go of it. This was a different reaction entirely. Was it because he was with a different weapon?
He nodded. She would be able to kill off his army and he had to help them finish Calhoun's army before then. He ran over to where he had asked the commanders to stay.
"You all, it is time for us to join the battle." He announced. "Are you ready for me?"
With one look at them, one could tell that they had been tampered with. Eugene had gotten them under his control with the help of a spell.
"Fight, my little warriors. Nothing like defeat!"
Julitta was taken to Diana and she carried Coco from her. Calhoun gave her the keys to the castle and his chamber. Julitta was scared but she was protected by Coco till she got to Calhoun's chamber.
"Ready sweetheart?" Calhoun asked. He opened a vial containing a red potion and drank it. Diana wondered what it was.
"Ready." She answered.
Calhoun chuckled. "Let's see what colors these creatures bleed in."
Diana's eyes glowed as she began to fight. Whatever weapon she held would be clothed in some powerful flame that not only cut through her enemies, it also melted their skin.
Jasyn soon became afraid of the way Diana and Calhoun easily slayed the other creatures but he found himself being compelled to keep fighting. His main reason for wanting to fight was to beat up Calhoun and prove to Diana that he was a better companion for her.
He was finally faced off with them. He and Yolanda. Calhoun stared at Yolanda and could easily see through her. Yolanda's gaze was locked on Calhoun's figure and Diana felt disgusted.
"Yolanda, how about we fight hand to hand combat?" Diana suggested. She knew that whatever trick Yolanda would have up her sleeve would be useless against her new powers.
"What does the winner get?" Yolanda asked.
"The winner gets the winner against the males," Diana said. Yolanda went quiet. She didn't know how strong Calhoun was but she knew him and his reputation. Somewhere she rooted for him, but she would never voice it out just in case he lost to Jasyn.
She smirked. "Sure. Bring it on."
Diana glanced at Calhoun. He nodded slightly and they lunged forward to fight, right at the same time.
