Chapter 78

Yolanda wasn't exactly happy that Diana and Calhoun were so in sync. That had always been her wish for her and Jasyn. All the time, she mastered his tactics in battle, how he fought, the steps he took, the way he moved his body, performed a strike, or even landed when he jumped.

She even went as far as to try and learn his kind, and the things they did. She just wanted to be so much like him so that they can be in sync during battle. Jasyn had been cold to everyone else except her.

But seeing how Diana and Calhoun fought together, she got jealous. She began to hit harder. She tried to match Diana's speed but no matter how fast she tried, Diana always topped her by far.

Grunting, she somersaulted in the air and sent two kicks toward Diana. Diana smirked at her, she put her hands together and then pushed them forward toward her, opening just her palm as she moved it.

Yolanda didn't see what happened, she could only feel a strong force push her further away from Diana and when she looked up, she saw that she was heading to a huge tree. She screamed out as loud as she could and yet she crashed into the tree.

Yolanda's scream was enough to force the two men to stop fighting. Jasyn turned and saw Yolanda's dead body that was on the ground with her head opened on the ground. He got angry instantly and he roared.

Calhoun chuckled. "Don't tell me you were really in love with her."

"Shut up!" Jasyn yelled.

"Shut up? Me? No one dared to shut me up. Not even by yelling. Perhaps there is a means you can shut me up? You wanna try?" Calhoun teased.

Jasyn growled at him. He could feel his skin get hairy and his bones began to break. Why was his transformation so painful this time around? It wasn't his first transformation, so why would it hurt so much now? Thinking about it, he felt even more pain and he roared aloud.

Diana stared at him. " wrong with him? Did you inject him with something?"

Calhoun raised his hand, showing his innocence. "I did nothing."

"Why is he that way?" She muttered.

Calhoun shrugged. "Doesn't he look like this before?"

"I don't know. I haven't seen his wolf form before." Diana replied. While she spoke, she suddenly bent backward and an arrow whooshed passed her.

Calhoun turned immediately towards the source of the arrow and he saw three directed at him. He smirked. Arrows? Because they were silver tipped? But then he sniffed something there, a rare type of poison that could forcefully lock one's wolf form. Calhoun realized that he couldn't dodge it and accepted that he might die that way.

Diana used her powers to prevent the arrows from hitting Calhoun. She could protect him since the powers naturally protected her. She pulled him behind her and faced whatever was coming.

Jasyn had finished his transformation and was finally ready to fight. He was on a rampage and only wanted to spill blood. Diana, despite knowing she had powers, was still afraid. Calhoun's warriors were bigger than regular wolves but not as big as Jasyn was looking.

Also, his eyes glowed the purple that those creatures had and his fur was purple as well. She was trying to put pieces together. Somehow, Eugene was controlling him. She watched him closely and she could see how much pain he was in. Somewhere, she felt pity for him.

Jasyn roared in Diana's face and she felt somewhat disgusted by it. She crouched down and picked up the two swords that lay around her feet. As she picked them up, a bright-colored flame covered the swords and she smiled.

As Jasyn lunged forward to get her, she swung her swords in a crossed manner and slashed his flesh. Right before her eyes, Jasyn yelled in pain, holding his wounded shoulder and then he turned even more aggressively.

Diana was surprised that the wound closed up immediately. Jasyn raised his hand and pushed her into the ground. The force caused a minor explosion that spread ten feet around. Calhoun looked and saw that Diana had been buried in the snow. Although he felt she wasn't dead, he couldn't stop his assumption from running wild.

Growling, he began to transform into his wolf form. To the surprise of the onlookers, he was bigger than Jasyn. Eugene chuckled when he saw Calhoun transform. That was all he wanted to achieve. If one was able to kill him in his wolf form, they could conquer him properly.

Jasyn faced off with Calhoun but he was beaten mercilessly. He beat him to the extent that Jasyn couldn't even do as much as a whimper. Calhoun watched, enraged, as Jasyn slowly transformed back to his human form.

"You fool!" Calhoun growled. "How did you think you could shoot at me and try to kill my woman?"

"Please..." Jasyn whispered ever so softly. "I can't get what I want. But you must stop him."

Calhoun chuckled. "of course, I will kill you."

"This is not about me," Jasyn whispered. "He is not as he appears. He is evil and will go any length to get what he wants."

Calhoun didn't respond anymore. The ground shook and Diana busted out of it as if she had been spat out. Calhoun turned to watch her as she went around and landed right before him, glaring down at Jasyn.

"It's time for you to die!" She yelled. She raised her sword up and before Calhoun could stop her, she stabbed him in the chest. "Bastard!"

Calhoun grabbed the head of the sword and took her hands off. He stared down at Jasyn. What was he trying to talk about?

"Diana, he was saying something," Calhoun whispered.

Diana was panting. "He is a bastard."

"Bastard or not, you killed him while I was still hearing him out."

"What could be more important than what I did?"

"The fact that he had information about our enemy to share!" Calhoun growled. "You made me lose it."

"You are going to blame this on me?!" Diana exclaimed. "Big proof of your love."

"Not now, Diana." Calhoun shook his head. "You were the one who said we shouldn't discuss love on the battlefield, what changed?"

Diana stared at him, her eyes were bloodshot. She sniffed once and twice.

"Alright, I'm sorry. Please don't break down and cry before me." Calhoun said. He grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him.

"How sweet," Eugene said. He looked around him and all he could see were dead soldiers. Calhoun looked around him and Diana. His soldiers were dead as well. He knew that the wounded ones had been taken to the castle. But by who?

The gates opened and four soldiers emerged. George, Felix, Evander, and Thomas.

"I told you not to fight again," Diana said to Thomas. "What are you doing back here?"

"Diana?" Felix called in surprise. "Huh. When King Calhoun mentioned that he met you, I was ready to believe he had begun seeing things."

Calhoun scoffed. "You thought that? You traitor!"

"Forgive me, my lord." Felix bowed slightly. "Lady Diana, have you come to fight against us too?"

"She had been on our side since day one," Calhoun answered. "The letters of warning came from her."

"That is good," Felix commented, nodding. A brief moment of silence passed and they all looked around themselves. "Should we consider this as a victory?"

"Not yet." A voice said. "I have not given up yet."

Diana rolled her eyes. "Theo, do you want to die?"

"You know that man?" Calhoun asked, glaring at Theodore. He could already tell that the man was in love with his woman. Was he perhaps the father of her child? The hair was almost the same color and it was curly too. He stroked his chin in thought.

"Fellow commander," Diana replied.

"Diana," Theodore called. "I assumed you would want to change your mind if I came to meet you."

"You don't stand a chance, Theo," Diana said, flicking her wrist.

Theodore chuckled. "I have only ever loved you, why can't you give me a chance?!"

"That's simply because you don't stand a chance against him," Diana said, pointing to Calhoun. "Not in appearance, not in skill, nothing."

"What if I beat him in a duel?" Theodore asked.

Diana laughed a mocking laugh. "Pretty. How about you fight beside us and get a chance to be close to me one more time before you die."

"Before I die?"

"Yes. Eugene will kill you if you fight alongside us. But then you die happy. If you fight against us, I will kill you personally. Maybe you still die a happy man."

Theodore went silent. "What happens if I leave with you instead?"

Calhoun growled at him. "You find yourself in hell."

George and the rest chuckled at the response. Theodore nodded. Now he had to give up too.

Before he could make his decision, he felt a sharp pain and looked down to find a hole in his heart. A hand had stuck out, holding his heart out.

"Oh my-!" George exclaimed. This was something Calhoun used to do but he had never held the heart out for the person to see.

Theodore's eyes stared at his heart in the hand that was stuck in his chest. Slowly, the life he had left him and he fell. The hand retracted so that his body could fall freely. Eugene held the heart in his hand and began playing with it.

"What can we learn from this?" He asked. "I don't support treachery."

His eyes moved to Diana who stood beside Calhoun. She was not afraid of him and that was what he did not fancy. From what he could deduce, the child belonged to Calhoun and if Calhoun found out, he would become a match for him. But if he could lay his hands on the child, none of it would happen.

"Where is the child by the way? I think he has to pay for his crimes." Eugene said.

Diana's heart began to race. She hoped that Julitta held the boy safely.

"Let's see, Julitta has him in the king's chamber. Isn't that sweet? Diana, why not call her to bring the child down?"

Diana scoffed. "You think that would work on me just so easily?"

"If you don't, I will call her myself." He threatened.

"I dare you," Calhoun said, glaring at the man.

Eugene laughed evilly. Somewhere, Felix felt like it would be a bad idea to dare the man. Evander was equally tired from the battle and he just wanted to return home to his family. He hoped that the city was not invaded yet.

Eugene stared directly at Calhoun's window and his eyes shone purple. He stared on for a long time and then he began to yell.

"Julitta, come down with the baby!" After yelling, the windows began to break and somehow, the walls cracked as well. Diana became very much afraid, she turned to Calhoun who signaled for her to be calm.

"Don't believe his balderdash." Calhoun consoled. After a while, the breaking stopped and his eyes stopped glowing. He turned back to the group of six before him.

"The first mistake was sending a Fraco soldier to hold your child. The second mistake was not telling her to make sure she keeps the boy too close to her."

Diana opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by the sound of the gates being opened. Shakily, she turned to check who it was. She wasn't surprised, she was shocked. Julitta had come down with the child and was heading straight to Eugene.

George tried to fight her off, as did Felix but somehow the girl was too powerful. She could only watch in horror as Julitta betrayed her, handing her child over to Eugene.
