*Abi POV*
A week later, I am doing my best to ignore the noisy elders and enjoy my life, but it’s not only them who are talking.
Olivia seems to be perpetuating the notion that she is the Omario’s rightful mate. My lack of getting pregnant is apparently the proof. Teresa tells me that she is getting more followers, which I shouldn’t care about, right?
I’m standing on the balcony in deep thoughts when Omario joins me.
He kisses my neck before coming around to inspect me.
“Why the long face?”
I shrug my shoulders and he sighs.
“You do know that we are in this together, right? and besides, I’m not ready to share you with a pup yet.”
I force a smile. He is right, but I can’t ignore the speculations going around. We are together in this but he is not the one being whispered about. Luna Nala says that’s how fucked up our society is. A woman always takes the blame. She thinks I should let Nina send them all to hell, but I can’t do that.
“Cheer up and come running with your man,” Omario says charmingly and I can’t help by smile. He has this ability to light up my world no matter what.
Ten minutes later, our wolves dash out of the castle and head to the hills. Titan and Nina are in heaven out in the wild. A part of me wants to stay here forever and never return to the castle.
“As tempting as that sounds, we have a kingdom to run,” Omario reads through me. “Our bed is also there,” he adds mischievously.
I love this man!
The following day, I wake up to find our suitcases packed and my mate watching me.
“What’s going on?”
“We are going away,” he says, mysteriously, piquing my curiosity.
I raise my eyebrow. I am not aware of any pending business trip. That would actually be very much welcomed at the moment.
“We are going to our honeymoon. Just the two of us, away from here. It’s way overdue,” he says it’s a huge grin as I jump out of bed. I don’t care where we are going, away from here is all I need.
“You have not asked where we are going!” he exclaims when I walk into a shower.
“I don’t care as long as you are there,” I shout back, feeling on top of the world. I love being the Luna and improving my people’s lives, but I do need to get away from here.
He laughs before joining me, but he has something else in mind.
I gasp. “Omar.”
“I gotta have my mate or I will go crazy,” his husky voice and his erect manhood that’s already pressing against me is enough to make me temporary forget about the trip.
“I love you, Abigail. Always did and always will, till death,” he says before spilling his seeds inside me and my heart is content.
That’s when it dawns to me that I do have everything I have ever wanted. I don’t owe anyone some rushed pregnancy.
Terrence and Luna Nala are not impressed with us for leaving them in charge. They are fully capable of leading, but they have gotten really attached to us and we, to them. The four of us have gotten really close. We are the tight family none of us had, but I still can’t get over the feeling that there’s something between my bestie and mother-in-law.
There was a time Terrence was tangled with Teresa, but I learned months ago that Teresa found her mate and Terrence is now suspiciously just happily being a bachelor. I make a note to explore this on my return.
I don’t know when Omario organised this trip, but it’s perfect. Every stop, every meal, every sight and every song, makes me fall deeper in love with him.
“I know you, Abigail. Better than I know myself,” he says charmingly, reading through me again.
We spend the first two weeks in Jolly island, an island famous for having the most beautiful landscape and flowers. With my mate on my side, this is heaven. I quickly proclaim the island as my favourite place in the world. Omario even makes a vow to bring me back every year for our anniversary, but I am wrong.
The last weeks of our honeymoon is spent in Palm Spring. The ultimate exotic romantic destination, my new favourite place in the world.
“Really?”
I giggle. “I am allowed to have two favourite places in the world.”
He laughs. “I love seeing you like this.”
“Like what?”
“Happy. That’s my mission, to make you the happiest woman on earth.”
My mate, the man of dreams. I look at him with dreamy eyes.
“You are definitely winning and thank you.”
He laughs. “Really? You are too easy to please, Abigail.”
I roll my eyes at him. “Why do you insist on using my full name?” I have always been curious about this but never asked.
“Because your name is what I yearned for when you were still a slave. It was my hope back then, but now, it’s my mission. Joyous, is what you were born to be. That’s what I want you to always be.”
I can’t hold back my tears as I bury myself in his arms. “My parents named me that because I brought them joy, but I lost that identity when they were killed and became a slave.”
“You never really lost who you were, Abigail. Dad and his cronies tried to put you down and strip you off your rightful place but failed. Battered and tortured, you still lite up that castle. Your smile gave me and many others hope. With nothing, you still sacrificed for your fellow servants and lead by example. You are an incredible woman and don’t ever forget that.”
I nod my head. I don’t know what I did to deserve this man but I’m truly grateful.
We reluctantly return to our kingdom, crazy in love and completely refreshed. Unfortunately, our problems seemed to have accumulated in our absence…
