*Omario POV*
I quietly drive to the city and completely shut out the woman who is forever complaining next to me. We get to the city and I intentionally choose a fully furnished two bedroom apartments in a low economic area. The idea is to keep a low profile but the other is to prove my suspicions.
There is a lot going on here but the top on the list is the pup Olivia is carrying. Titan stopped liking her years back, but he would be pulled to our pup and that’s not the case here. It’s the wolfs nature to protect their offsprings regardless of circumstances. In this case he even threatened to kill the pup if I rejected Abi.
“Eew! You must be joking! I can’t stay here!” Olivia cries. “Why couldn’t we move into a hotel?” she adds.
I ignore her and head to our apartment and open it. The place is decent but full of dust, but little madam is completely appalled.
She is qualified but thinks it’s beneath her to find a job and work. Now that her aunt is no more, she is too broke to maintain the flashy lifestyle.
“Tell me someone is going to clean this up?” she asks with her nose up and goes on about her valuables and designer clothes destroyed in the castle.
I finally snap and give her a piece of my mind.
“Listen here Olivia. I don’t give a damn about you or your belongings. I am only here because I did not want my mate doing something she will regret later on. I could not send you alone because you pose a risk for the kingdom.”
She looks at me with teary eyes.
“So, you only came with me for her?”
I am convinced that something is really off with this woman but her naivety is getting on my nerves.
“I’m sorry but I have to ask, did you by any chance bump your head?”
“Rio! Why are you so rude to me?”she asks, acting all hurt.
“Because I just lost my mate, the love of my life and you are busy whining about stupid belongings!”
I am not the type to yell at any woman but I can’t help myself.
“You would not have lost anything if you accepted that Abi and I are both your mates, but you decided to give away the Alpha position. How could you be so…”
I can’t help but laugh. “You wanted to be Luna so bad that you didn’t mind pushing yourself down my throat. You are exactly like you whore aunt.”
“Rio!” she exclaims but her every expression screams guilty as charged.
“I would never disrespect my mate like that. You don’t even deserve to walk in the same ground as her, let alone live in the same castle,”I add. I mean every word of this. Abi was the most kind and graceful slave ever. Skinny and bones but everyone knew by the way she carried herself that she was the rightful heir.
“Rio! How can you say this to me? I would have been a graceful Luna. I read every book there is. I would be a perfect Luna and people would love me,” she objects.
I don’t know if she even hears how she sounds.
“That’s what you have always wanted, isn’t? It makes me wonder, is that pup even mine or was it your ticket to get to the throne?”
“Rio!”
“You better not be lying to me, Olivia, because I will crush your greedy selfish bones.”
She looks at me with widen eyes before weeping. “Do you hate me that much? We have been friends for years. How could you threaten me like this?”
I realise that I am waisting my time here and head to my new room and make a traceable call to Terrence.
“How is she?”
“She is angry and ready to burn everything. She’s crazy, man,” Terrence says.
“She can be difficult, but this is all my fault.”
“She is my friend but man, I have to ask. Are you sure that she is really your mate?” Terrence asks.
“I don’t expect to hear this from you,”I say sharply but he continues.
“I know, but are you not worried that maybe Olivia is your rightful mate? She is carrying your child.”
“I am not having this conversation with you. Take care of my mate,” I say firmly, irritated.
“Fine,” Terrence says and drops the call.
I call back a few minutes later.
“How is she?”
“Is that all you care about? What about us who have to deal with her and all the plots?” Terrence teases.
I really appreciate his calmness in the middle of the storm.
“You could come guard ‘madam entitle’ and I come home to my mate,” I suggest and he laughs at me.
“I will stick with Abi, thank you very much,” he says.
“How is she?”
I am really worried about my mate. She and Nina are taking my action as betrayal, but I did what I needed to do.
“Blazing with rage,” Terrence responds.
I expected it but it still breaks my heart.
“Make sure she eats,” I instruct.
“You want me to get closer to your inferno? Do I sound like I have a death wish?” Terrence asks, amused.
“You either do that or we exchange stations.”
“Fine, I will make sure she eats. Anything else, Your Ex Highness?”he concedes and teases me more.
“The food…”
“Will only be prepared by your mother and Teresa,” he interjects. “Happy?” he adds.
It’s not that I don’t trust him, but I am really worried about my mate.
Terrence finally gets serious.
“Look, man, I know that this sucks and you are worried, but she is safe. We are all on board in sorting all this out, but if we fail, she is an inferno.” he tries to assure me but I can’t be at peace until this is over.
“What if she hates me forever?”
This is my biggest worry. I don’t think I can live with that and I know that Titan will never forgive me if that happened.
Stupid Terrence laughs at me. “That ugly scar on your neck should remind you that you are the only one Nina bit that lived to tell the tale.”
That strangely makes me feel better.
“I have to go babysit, keep me informed,” I instruct Terrence before going out to find Olivia sitting on the couch. I pretend not to notice her quickly dropping a call. I can’t believe that I once thought she was a decent human being.
