Bella's mouth hung open as she stared at Nicholas Calvin's huge mansion, she had never seen anything like this and even before stepping inside, she already felt so out of place. She had been stunned when Daniel had told her that they would be attending the anniversary of his father and had given her a quite expensive dinner gown to wear to the party. She had been hesitant about the gown because first and foremost, it was way too expensive and higher than their budget but Daniel had told her that she had no reason to worry because he bought the dress on credit and would have to pay in installments.
The party was boozing with the rich, all glamorous and classy and Bella felt out of place even when she was dressed in such an expensive dress, she felt she did not have the poise and carriage of a rich and classy lady.
Heads turned as soon as Daniel and Bella entered the Calvin's mansion, the party was being held in the garden, and with Bella's hand in his arm, Daniel led her into the garden.
His presence was not one that could easily go unnoticed, those who didn't know about him stared in curiosity, most of the ladies including the married drooled at his physique and aura making their husbands boil in anger
"Look who's here, the illegitimate son is here" Gabriel, his half brother announced as his eyes glanced over Bella appreciatively
"What the hell are you doing here" Joey whispered furiously as she walked towards him
Daniel smirked, "I am here to congratulate you on your wedding anniversary"
"Well that isn't necessary, you're not welcome" Nicholas Calvin stated, walking towards him
"Hello. Father." Daniel spat out with emphasis on the word 'father'
"What do you want? Why the hell are you here? Did you come just to annoy me?"
Daniel scoffed as he grabbed a glass of champagne that a waiter was carrying, "you think that you're worth that much? I am here because I heard that you are celebrating the tenth anniversary of Jenny's fabrics"
Joey gasped and her eyes glanced around to see if any of their guests were listening to their conversation. Some of them standing close were obviously listening but were trying hard not to be It's been so long since anyone referred to that company as Jenny's fabrics
"It's J&C corporation you moron, the J&C stands for Joey and Calvin"
"I don't care what name you give it but all I can say is that I am here to celebrate my mother's company and there is nothing you can do about it"
"Is everything okay?" One of the guests asked as he walked towards them. Calvin forced a smile but it came off as a grimace
"No Ruffo, everything is fine" Calvin answered with some difficulty and Daniel smirked, he was glad that he had put his father just where he needed him to be
"And who is the lady with you? Don't tell me a jerk like you have a girlfriend already" Gabriel said as his eyes roamed over Bella. His gaze has never left her since she entered the party
Daniel smiled as he gazed at all three, "Dad, my dearest stepmother, and brother, let me introduce Bella to you. She is my wife"
"Your wife?" Joey asked, "When the hell did you get married?"
"When I got married is none of your business, the most important thing is that I am married" he stared deadpan into his father's shocked expression "which means that I'll be claiming my mother's inheritance pretty soon" he gloated as he walked past them into the party.
Nicholas Calvin clenched and unclenched his fist as he watched him leave, he must admit that this boy took after him. His strong personality and commanding presence would make anyone think twice before going against him.
"Did you hear what he just said? Your damn bastard son just ruin my day"
"Calm down Joey"
"Do not tell me to calm down, getting everything that belongs to your mistress was my only consolation for your cheating on me and I won't let anyone take it all away. Not even your bastard son, I will do everything to keep what is mine even if I have to kill for it"
"Let's go and join the party" Calvin replied as he put his arms around her shoulders, "smile Joey, even if you have to fake it" he whispered in her ears as they both joined the party.

"You look beautiful tonight " Daniel whispered into her ears as they danced to the tune of the music, Bella felt his hot breath and her stomach quivered at the sensation. She knew he was acting as if he had already informed her that to the outside world, they were a couple who were madly in love with each other, she had to make an effort too so that it would not look one-sided.
She raised her face and stared at him, "Thank you Daniel, y...you look nice"
A faint smile touched his lips and he arched a brow at her, "just nice?"
She licked her lips, "Well, cute too" Daniel laughed softly and brushed his lips against hers, she didn't know why but she suddenly felt lightheaded because of the kiss and she swayed a little closer to him
"I'm glad you consider me as cute" Bella wanted to tell him that he looked more than cute, he looked quite handsome but they were suddenly interrupted by a female voice
"Hello Daniel, long time no see"
Bella felt Daniel stiffen and his eyes grew cold as he turned towards the voice, "Hello Chloe"
The air around them grew tense and Bella wondered who the lady was, "I... I'll use the washroom, please excuse me" she mumbled and walked away. But Daniel didn't even glance at her once as his eyes were fixed on 'Chloe'.
"I must say, you look even more handsome than I remembered"
"Well, I can't say the same about you even though you sold yourself to the highest bidder"
"Don't you insult me"
"Did I hurt your ego? Well, I never knew you had one so if you'll excuse me I'll go look for my 'wife"
Chloe was the first lady he had ever made the misfortune of falling in love with and had almost gotten married to her until he found out that she was also going out with Gabriel.
