AUTHOR’S POV:
The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky. A house that has turned nearly to ashes and turned all black was still burning badly and the black smoke has covered the clouds on top of it.
The multiple police officers and the fire rescuers had surrounded the scenes and a little far from this chaotic scene, there was an ambulance in which a woman with a disheveled look sat on a chair looking lifeless. Her gaze was fixed on the burning flames of the house.
She doesn’t seem in her senses as after asking for multiple times by the nurse she didn’t respond to her once.
“Ma’am,” The nurse shook Ella’s arm bringing her back to the present.
“Huh,” She looked at the nurse, frowning.
“Are you ok? Ma’am?”The nurse asked.
Ella shook her head, absentmindedly staring at the burning house from afar. “So, I am going to ask you a few questions, Ma’am. Kindly nod if it's yes and shake your head if it’s a no.”
“Are you hurt Ma’am? Anywhere physically?”The nurse asked and Ella shook her head after a while.
“Are you bleeding? Are you having your periods, Ma’am?”She asked again and then Ella shook her head.
“Ok Ma’am, Can you move your both arms like this?”The nurse asked while doing a stretch in her arms that Ella followed.
“Great.”
“Blink your eyes, twice Ma’am.”The nurse asked and Ella did.
“Your eyes are swollen and red, did someone hurt you, Ma’am?”The nurse asked as she inspected her eyes with her little torch and then checked her mouth.
Ella didn't answer her, She wasn’t hurt by someone but she was the one who has just killed someone so brutally and hurt him in the cruelest way.
“Gaa…”Ella choked at his name as the nurse looked up at her, confused. “You are looking for your brother? He is with the police. They might come here to you for a statement. Are you okay with giving a statement?”The nurse asked, handing her a bottle of water.
Ella didn’t know she was thirsty until she saw the bottle of water. She gulped down the whole bottle in a go and then the nurse handed her another bottle, thoughtfully.
“I will give the statement,” Ella said plainly and the nurse nodded her head. “Ok then, I will call them.”
The nurse then walked away from her sight and Ella touched her chest which surprisingly has no pain at all. She remembered how forcibly Gael has hit her with his powers so then how come she couldn’t feel any pain now?
She thought, confused and just then an officer came over to her with Oliver beside him. “So Miss Ella, are you ok to give the statement?” the officer asked politely in a cold tone.
“Yes,” Ella breathed and then looked at Oliver.
“Tell them the truth, Ella,” Oliver said to her and she nodded her head in assurance. Before she could open her mouth, another officer came over who looked like a senior one.
He whispered into another police officer’s ear and then that man walked away from them. Ella and Oliver looked at the new officer with a weird gaze, that man’s hand was bandaged and so was his head.
There were also a few cuts on his face that made him look a little scary.
Seeing Ella twitching her brows while scanning his appearance the officer opened his mouth, “Don’t worry, I am here to help.”
With a polite smile, he opened the register in his hand, wrote something, and then looked at Ella with seriousness. “So, Miss Ella, two burglars broke into your house when your brother was soundly asleep in his room at night. You were awake and hearing the noises you went down to check and saw two people, you came back to your room and quickly called for help but the burglars sensed your presence and rushed to your room. You tried to fight back with them and soon your brother woke up too. While fighting with them, when the burglar fired at you, you dodged it and it, unfortunately, hit the petrol can and the whole house got on fire. Because the house has been burned down badly we couldn't get the traces of anyone present in the house and assumed that they both burglars were burned inside the house into ashes. While you both escaped and luckily got saved.”
Hearing his story, Ellas was completely shocked as well as Oliver. “What are you…”Ella tried to open her mouth and complained but Oliver interrupted her. “Yes, you are right, officer. This is what actually happened.”
Ella looked at Oliver in surprise as well as at the officer.
“Good, so here I need your both signatures.”The officer said and then pointed at his register while handing them both a pen.
Ella and Oliver both signed and then Oliver went to the other ambulance for a check-up while the officer still stayed at his place.
“Why are you doing this?”Ella asked him, her mind was in bewilderment.
"What?" The officer asked, not getting her question.
"Why you're helping us?" Ella asked, bluntly.
“Because You have saved my life so I am repaying you.”The officer said and Ella’s eyes popped out wide in shock.
“You…”She stuttered as she stared at him from his head to toe, carefully.
