Kaiwan was still outside when she returned and he raised his head to look at her.
"You're back."
"Why aren't you sleeping?" She asked.
"I was waiting for you."
"I saw it.That blood...It's yours, right?" She asked.
"You saw it? I covered it up, but I guess I can't trick your nose. I've been exhausted these days so I have a nosebleed..."
"Detective..." She called as she lowered the neck of her blouse, exposing her bare neck.
"Zuriña, what are you doing?" He asked, startled.
"Drink my blood..."
"What?" He asked.
"I know you don't have much time...I was too flustered. I don't know what to do but I thought it might be possible with my blood... Yiannais gave his blood to his underlings and prolonged their lives so that means I can prolong yours right? So..." She was saying as she scrapped her neck with her claws. "Take my blood."
"Zuriña..."
"You have to live, Detective." She said and he slowly rose to slid an arm around her waist. Kaiwantransformed on sighting the blood dripping down her neck and she closed her eyes in anticipation of what was to come.
To her surprise, Kaiwanhelped her pull up her blouse.
"Detective,why aren't you drinking?"
"I don't want to drink it."
"What?" She asked.
"There's a catch. All mixed bloods can only live up to five years. Wanna know why none of them lived past five years?...That's because drinking a pureblood's blood won't work twice."
"But still..."
"And it's not that I'm guaranteed to die. And you never know. I mean, don't worry about it. There could be another way for vampires to survive. So, don't think about it too much and just rest." He said and turned to walk in first.
"The pureblood and the detective? It looks like they're lovers." Levi's words kept ringing in his ears as Yiannais drained his eleventh victim in the bathtub that night. He'd been drinking a lot of human blood lately to ensure his complete recovery from Zuriña's hit.
"They're a couple." He ran his tongue around his fangs as he dropped his victim's corpse in the bathtub. "What happened when I was younger is happening again.
What do you think,Vael?"
"Falling in love during a war..." Vael said and he clenched his fist.
Zuriña fell in love? With that detective?
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything."
"Go to Zuriña Anderson."
"Yes sir."
"I know why you want that blood and how desperate you are to get it."
"Would it be okay to kill her?" He asked.
"No."
"Kill the detective."
Kaiwanand Zuriña were seated outside the following morning after training looking at the sky.
Something was bothering her. The detective was different. She'd felt it more than twice. He was stronger than most of the angels of death.
"Is something bothering you?" He asked.
"No."
"You're lying."
She bit her lip as she hesitated. "You're not an...angel of..."
He laughed."Ah, if I were an angel of death, I'd be able to live forever."
"But we can't really report this to the police?"
"The police are on their side so we can't report it. If the drugs are being distributed and you can't stop people from buying the said drug, then this is the only way. They even went as far as persuading the president."
"But if the president took them and told everyone not to take them..." Her voice trailed off.
"That's right. This country will be outraged. So we won't go to the president. But there's a problem."
"There is?"
He arched a brow. "Something's up with the president."
Zuriña sighed as a crow suddenly flew past and within a couple of minutes later, crows with red eyes suddenly started flying above them and Kaiwanrose on noticing it.
"Zuriña..." His voice trailed off
"They're no ordinary birds, Detective."
One of the crows flew past them separating them and Vael suddenly appeared to hit Kaiwan, sending him crashing into the church.
"Detective!" She screamed as she team over to meet him. "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay. You're not hurt, right?" He asked and she shook her head.
"This isn't the time to worry about others, is it?"
Zuriña turned to Vael. So he was a wanker after all.
"Your life is in danger here. The detective who hides behind others and runs his mouth should just leave."
He wasn't provoking me but the detective. Why?
"Zuriña, let me handle this." Her whispered as he rose and walked over to him.
"Hey purple hair." Kaiwancalled, referring to Vael's hair. "Where did all your kneeling attitude go? Why did you search for me so desperately? Did you forget something?...I'm telling you you're not my type."
"I might be your type but I have standards too. If you have time to speak nonsense, you're better off writing a will, because..."
"I know. It's because of that person, right? You must be really willing to betray anyone as long as you get your way." He scoffed.
"Shut your mouth." He said and threw the first hit which Vael avoided.
"What an interesting fellow."
"You're not calling me detective anymore?... What are you doing?" He snorted as Vael took out some cards from his suit.
"Do you want to play a card game?"
"I don't really like sissy card games." He replied and the cards suddenly went up in flames.
"Then what about this? It's quite fired up now, isn't it?" He said and tossed the cards toward him and Zuriña was surprised Kaiwanavoided them all.
"It's troublesome. But as long as it doesn't touch me it's fine. Did you become an angel of death with just that?"
"Idiot. A guy like you became a detective. What a waste of tax. You have no creativity but what about you giving up your position?" He asked as he zoomed towards him
"Detective...watch out." She screamed.
Kaiwan avoided his attack again and that seemed to have aggravated Vael.
"You're avoiding it,like a rat." He said as he tossed some burning cards towards him again.
"Didn't you learn? These attacks won't work on me?"
Vael leapt to throw a jab."Did you think I'll stand still?"
"Detective..."
Smoke suddenly came up obstructing her view and almost choking her. There was something weird about those two. She couldn't stand it any longer. She had to do something.
She tried to near but it seems like there was a barrier as she couldn't get in.
What was going on?
"Detective!" She screamed and tried to get in.
The entire place suddenly exploded sending her flying to hit her back against a tree and she raised her arm to block out the smoke, which slowly died down to reveal Vael with his head bowed.
She sprang to her feet and her eyes caught a clothing on the floor and her eyes widened on realising they belonged to the detective.
Did Vael really...
"Vael!" Veins popped out of her neck as she screamed and Vael vanished before she could grab him.
Her head swished round to see he'd left the scene and she dropped to her knees in tears.
"Kaiwan!"
Vael was wiping his hair dry when she walked into the hall he'd told her to come and Kaiwanturned to smile at her.
"Zuriña."
She ran over to hug him, surprising herself and everyone. Luckily, Vael had kept his word.
"Zuriña..."
She sniffed as she pulled away from him. "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay. You?"
"I'm fine."
Vael rolled his eyes. "Do you guys care to cut it out already? And what's that? Just what are those clothes?" He asked, referring to the clothes Kaiwanwas wearing.
"What's that?! I became like this because of you and what?" He narrowed his eyes. "Is it because you're jealous of my physical abilities?"
"Are you challenging me?"
"Or should I show you my body that was trained since high school?"
She sighed."Guys, calm down...Vael, I have something to ask."
"I'll decline questions that are useless like that guy over there." He said, pointing to Kaiwan.
"What did you say?"
"It's not that. Why are you helping us like this?" she asked and Vael sighed.
While he'd been fighting with Kaiwan, he'd given her directions to take to avoid vampires who'd been heavily guarded with acidic guns.
He'd even put up a show, pretending to kill Kaiwanmeanwhile, he'd secretly transported him there.
"And here I thought you'd have that much sense. Fine, I'll explain. That situation back there, if it'd continued, you'd have to die if Kaiwandidn't."
"You wouldn't be helping us just because you like us." She scoffed.
"What do you want?" Kaiwanasked.
"Now, you're talking like a detective."
"You wanna fight?" Kaiwanput forward and Vael walked up to her.
"I'll give you my full cooperation. I'll give you all the information I have. So, give me your blood."
What was that? For a brief moment, Vael's expression was...
Kaiwanrolled his eyes. "Why are you being obsessive about it? You're already an angel of death so you don't have to worry about your life's expectancy."
"Right. You'll live for at least fifty years, so why?" She asked.
"Follow me." He replied and turned to head somewhere.Zuriña turned to Kaiwanwho shrugged before they turned to follow him.
They were still walking after five minutes and she wondered what could possibly be hidden in there.
She was his enemy yet for a reason, he begged her so desperately.Just what was it?
An unfamiliar smell hit her nose just as they arrived.
"It's this." Vael said as he slid the curtains and their eyes widened at the sight.
