Chapter 60

They were still walking after five minutes and she wondered what could possibly be hidden in there.

She was his enemy yet for a reason, he begged her so desperately.Just what was it?

An unfamiliar smell hit her nose just as they arrived.

"It's this." Vael said as he slid the curtain, and their eyes widened at the sight.

The lion looked like three metres tall.

It was a trap. He'd brought them here for food.

"What made it look like this?" Kaiwan asked as Daniel glared at them with unfriendly red eyes.

"Detective,the lion is on alert."

"Quickly get out here, Riña."

Zuriña broke into a cold sweat wondering whether to kill it or not as it slanted its' eyes to her.

"Three point five metres tall, four hundred kg.This lion's front paw can throw a dump truck in one blow. And moreover this guy's strongest weapon is..." Vael was saying when Daniel lay down to rub his fur against the floor.

"...Love."

"He's a companion?" Zuriña asked.

"I should introduce him. His name is Daniel."

"Then these birds are also your companions." Kaiwan asked, referring to the vampire crows flying around.

"Do I even need to tell you?"

Daniel woofed as Zuriña neared to take a look.

"He likes you. He says you smell like his mom?"

She was surprised. "Really? How do you know?"

"We've been together since we're young,so we understand each other."

Kaiwan shook his head as he neared Daniel. "Vael is weirder than he looks. What does he think of me?"

Vael interpreted. "You're ugly, your piercings are meh, you has an average body so he wants to hit you."

"That's just what you think."

But the lion and the birds were vampires?

Daniel suddenly surprised her when he threw up blood and she buried her mouth in her palms. "My God, will you feel better if you throw up like this? Throw up some more...More."

So that was the reason he'd showed them the animals. They were dying.

They waited till Vael tendered to Daniel, before they turned to walk to another of the rooms.

"Vael, the reason you showed us these animals..."

"That's right. They drank my blood and now they don't have much time left."

"So the reason you want my blood, is to feed it to them so they can live longer. But unfortunately,..."

"I know. A vampire without much life expectancy will die if he receives blood again?"

"Why are you asking for her blood? When you know they're going to die." Kaiwan said.

"I found a solution."

"Solution?"They chorused.

"After seeing countless vampires die, there are very few that survive."

"Okay? And?" He asked.

"They all had one thing in common. They didn't have any time left.

They were on the verge of death. If a mixed blood receives more blood, he'll die due to blood incompatibility. In order words, when you die, the vampire blood disappears, you can replace the blood with the right timing. There was hope, however in the end, everyone died."

"So in the end, there wasn't a solution." Kaiwan sighed.

"But it's a possibility ,which is why I came to you pureblood. I also know, Yiannais isn't fully a pureblood yet."

If what he said was true, then perhaps, she could save Kaiwan.

He stopped in front of her. "So I really need your blood."

"Vael, we..."

Kaiwan suddenly walked to push him back. "Hey, purple hair. Article nineteen of the traffic act states that all drivers should hold a safe distance to avoid collision. Especially, for the white haired women."

Vael frowned and she smiled. "That law is a bit strange. And why are you talking about driving?"

"And do you think saying 'please give it to me' will make her give it to you? And most importantly, we can't trust you. How do what you you do under Yiannais and what you're scheming?" Kaiwan turned to her. "Riña, we should leave. There's nothing to see here."

"You're already dead so what do you think will happen if you go out? I helped you,is this how you're going to repay me?" Vael ground out.

"Detective..."

"Don't worry, we're not leaving."

She turned to walk around the hall. From the posters, it looked like it was a concert hall in the past.

"Look at him." Kaiwan said as he stumbled on one of Vael's posters. "I knew he was a magician, but I never knew this was his concept. He's using the same name he uses as an angel of death. It looks like he's using the animals for show."

"I still don't know what kinda person he is." She sighed.

"You'll soon find out what kinda person he really is. Look Kaiwan, I'll go get a feel of the situation. If there's no need for us to stay, let's leave."

"But even so... About Vael, he worries me."

He looked shocked. "You're worried about the purple hair? Zuriña, you shouldn't be worried about people like them. They do not have a pretty side that you should care about."

She turned to him. What was up with him and Vael? "Are you okay, detective?"

He sighed. "I overreacted. Purple hair,...Vael,what about him worries you?"

"If what he said was true, couldn't it apply to you Detective?"

Kaiwan shook his head. "According to my calculations, no. I'd rather say it's fine to assume there hasn't been a case like that in the past ten years. You can think of it as a fairy tale." He slipped out his phone as she turned to look at the poster.

"What kind of person are you, Vael?" She muttered.

"What's this?... Riña take a look at this." He said and she walked back to him.

"What's it?"

"Sixty seven people missing, can we really trust the vaccine?" She read out from his phone and he clicked on the video that'd been released along with the news.

"Sixty seven people have recently gone missing this month and they thing they had in common, was objection to the vaccine." The anchor said.

Mrs Williams, the invited guest and one of the country's spokesman replied. "I'm not scared. Look at the people disappearing one they question the vaccine....It's a conspiracy."

"As expected, there are people who have doubts about the vaccine. Yiannais can pay for the price of his impatience." Kaiwan said and she tore her eyes to look at him.

"That's a relief, but what worries me is you don't know what a rat will do when it's cornered...You don't know what's going to happen especially if it's with Yiannais. In this situation, can we really trust Vael?"

Bodyguards trooped around Mrs Williams as she walked out of her office that night.

"How scared would you have been to hire bodyguards, right? Mrs Williams." Vael asked as he emerged out of darkness.

Mrs Williams stepped backwards as her bodyguards encompassed round her."Who are you?"

He angled his head."Me? You don't have a reason to know who I am."

"You...it's you, right? You're the one killing them."

"Catch that guy."

"Team A-1, in front of the garage, intruder."One of the bodyguards spoke and just then, fires came from behind him, gunning down all the bodyguards as he neared her.

"There's no use in doing anything, you'll just become the sixty eighth missing person."

"Do you think you'll be safe after doing that? You assassin." She screamed and he plunged his arm through her body.

"That's why you shouldn't say things so carelessly."
