Beads of sweat ran down his face as he started racing. He'd be screwed if he was found out.
"What's this?" Yiannais asked as he released his arm. "It really is human blood."
Yiannais picked up his glass and Vael dropped his arm.
"I guess my blood got smeared when I stabbed her."
Yiannais nodded. "That's possible. The smell of a vampire's blood is stronger than humans blood."
He resisted the urge to heave a sigh of relief. To think that what Kaiwan had said would work.
He'd been really bothered so he'd pleaded with the sixty eight people he'd hidden to give out their blood which he'd smeared over his arms and face. That punk was a detective after all.
But did Yiannais know he saved those people? And did he know he was working with the pureblood?
"What are you thinking so hard about?" Yiannais asked.
"It's nothing. I just wasn't expecting this kind of situation."
"I did come quite suddenly. How's Daniel?" He asked as he rose and Vael lowered his head.
"He's healthy. Thanks to you."
"Then..." Yiannais said and he raised his head. "What about those sixty eight people you hid from me? " He bit out as his eyes turned.
Vael's heart started racing again and he took shaky steps back as Yiannais crashed the glass with his claws, spilling its' contents on the carpet.
"Did you forget who brought you here?" He yelled out and Vael suddenly felt short on air.
It was terribly suffocating, and Yiannais' pressure in the room was only making it worse.
"How dare you..." Yiannais screamed as he raised his talons to attack and he closed his eyes in anticipation of what was to come. That was the end. He wasn't going to survive.
"I'll let you go."
His eyes slowly opened to see Yiannais wearing a smile on his face.
Was he dead? That couldn't be, he didn't feel an attack from Yiannais yet.
"Huh?"
"I'll even give you freedom." He said, putting a hand on his shoulder.
Vael's eyes slowly went from Yiannais' hand to his face. What was he scheming?
"So suddenly..." His voice trailed off as Yiannais pulled closer.
"But you have to pay a big price."
He knew it. There was no way Yiannais would be willing to forgive him easily. If he dared t cross him again, he was dead meat.
"What price?"
"What are you thinking about?" Kaiwan asked, that night as he sat beside Zuriña on the rooftop of the hall, oblivious of Yiannais arrival.
"It's nothing." She said as she swung her legs. "Just how great it'll be to kill Yiannais right now. That's what I'm thinking about."
He sighed. "That's not nothing...I'm sorry I can't do anything but stop you."
She nodded. "There's nothing that can be done. If we stop Yiannais now, we can't save those sixty eight people."
"Thank you." He suddenly said and she turned to him.
"What?"
"The revenge you're looking for is right in front of you. 99% of people wouldn't care about the innocent and just kill Yiannais right away but... I'm glad you're the 1%." He smiled, a sad one which tore her heart.
"Detective...you have a lot on your plate but why do you pretend like everything's okay?
It'll be fine if you can just showed you're having a hard time." She said inside of her.
"But Detective, what is Yiannais planning? I mean if he kills all those people, he'll be targeted, right?"
"That's right." He nodded as the evening breeze blew over them, delivering a message to her.
"Let's go in." She said.
"What?Why?"
"Vael called." She said, rising and he frowned.
"He didn't call though..."
"Let's just head in."
They fell quiet as they headed back until they arrived the room where Vael was.
"Yo purple hair..." His voice went off as he sighted the ample meal on the table.
"Hi."
"What's this?"
"What does it look like? It's dinner, dummy."
Those two and their constant bickering, Zuriña sighed.
"You're telling us to eat all of these oxblood jelly?" Kaiwan asked.
"All of a sudden?"
Kaiwan narrowed his eyes. "Did Yiannais tell you to do something weird? Why are you suddenly being nice to us?"
"It's because I have a lot of leftovers and I want to get rid of it..." He was still saying when Zuriña felt something behind her.
Her head whipped round and she shrieked on seeing, his mouthful of of dead rats.
"Rats?"
Vael chuckled as he walked over to pat his fur. "It's a good present, Daniel. But they don't eat this kinda stuff. If it's human..."
She interjected and he turned to her. "We've never drank human blood."
"That's unexpected. It's my first time seeing a vampire like you...Anyway, start digging in."
"Is this the only thing you prepared?" Kaiwan scoffed as he slid into a seat.
"It's not for you." He said and Kaiwan rolled his eyes.
"Today, I'll show you the magic I've never revealed to anyone before."
"Magic?" She beamed.
"You're saying you're going to do a magic trick in front of a detective?" Kaiwan asked and Vael took out a pack of cards.
"Now the card I choose..." He was saying as he ran his fingers through them. "...is going to teleport to a place you can't imagine."
"Teleport? Where will it go?" She asked and he walked over to her.
"I'll put this in your pocket." He said and she gave him the go-ahead look.
"Hey, watch where you're putting your hand."
"Now..." Vael said as he raised his fingers to snap them. "...the card has been teleported. And it's..."
Daniel opened his mouth and there was the card.
"Inside Daniel's mouth."
Zuriña was amazed but Kaiwan didn't believe it, even when he couldn't find the card in her pocket.
"There's no way. You must have put the same card in his mouth before this."
"Don't worry. The magic isn't done yet."
He said and suddenly blue roses started dropping.
"Wow." She beamed, as Daniel walked over to place a wreath over her head.
Kaiwan turned to Vael. "Roses? Who are you to give her roses? Plus, why do I set nothing?"
"There is." Vael said and gestured to Daniel's preys. "The rats."
"You can keep them " He scoffed and she smiled.
"Thanks Daniel."
"Do you remember the missing magician, Vael?"
