Chapter 75

Kaiwan slipped off his helmet as Zuriña walked towards the hotel and he recalled what Vael had told him before they had left for the island.

"Mind reading." Vael had said to him as he stroked Daniel who woofed.

"What?" He frowned.

"Levi..." He turned to him. "...can read minds."

"What an annoying ability."Kaiwan rolled his eyes with a hiss.

"She is not physically strong and I don't know what she does in a fight because she doesn't have much fighting experience...However, I think there's more to it than just mind reading."

Kaiwan had folded his arms. "Do you have something in mind?"

Vael sighed. "It was three years ago...There was one powerful guy who almost became an angel of death but he was obsessed with Yiannais. He wanted to take all of his wealth and power. That's when Levi came."

"Levi?" He grimaced. "I thought you said she wasn't competent."

He nodded. "I did. Well, he went into the building to kill Yiannais but he wasn't there and Levi met him. That was how the day passed and Levi was alone back then."

Kaiwan had been intrigued by the story. "What about him?"

"Disappeared without a trace." He said.

"How? Wasn't he stronger than Levi?"

"I don't know the details either. Just don't lower your guard."

Zuriña reached for the door to open it when he asked. "Riña, can you feel it?"

"Of course. The sense of incomparability and...the malodorous smell of blood."

No matter what cards Levi had, she would break them one by one.

"Be careful Riña, we don't know what's in there."

Her hands went to the door handle. "We will know once we open it." She said and pulled the doors open.

They were both surprised to find out it was dark and empty, completely different from what they had expected.

"What's this? It's empty?" He asked as he reached for the switch. It wasn't working.

"What's going on here? Are we at the wrong place?" She asked.

"No, we're at the right place."

It didn't make sense to her. "Then why is no one here?" She asked.

"He men may be scattered. This is the probably the beginning of her plan."

"There's nothing here. I can't sense anyone either."

He walked into the hotel and she followed him. "Think about it Riña, if ordinary vampires fought against you, they will fall like dominoes...Levi must have thought that was meaningless so the last angel of death whom you met at that time was a different one."

"Joel was a fake?" She asked.

"She must have gotten rid of him herself." He said as he looked around, trying to make out something in the dark.

"Then this time, it might be more dangerous than ever."

He sighed and faced her. "Let's restore the cut off power first. No matter how much we can sense, if we can't see anything it'll be dangerous.Let's go.The machinery should be over there." He said and was walking over to the place when she said.

"No, Detective."

He turned back to her. "Huh?"

He was dying, so she didn't want him to force himself anymore. If he fought alongside her, his body would not last. She would rather have him be in the power room.

"Detective, I need you to restore the cut off power and please support me through the CCTV. I'm going to search for Levi now."She said and he walked back to her.

In spite of the darkness engulfing them, she could sense he didn't like that idea.

"What are you saying, Riña? We can go together." He paused for a minute to consider something. "Of course, I'm not saying this because I think you're too afraid to go alone. It's because it's dangerous for..."

She reached to take his hand in hers and gave it gentle squeeze. "No, I want to go alone."

He didn't see to like the idea. "Then, I'll be going..."

"Okay."She smiled and turned to leave when he pulled back her.

"Detective?"

He sighed, reluctant to let her go. "If something happens, you have to give me a signal."

A wry smile crossed her lips. "Yes I will."

With that, they parted ways and she went in search of Levi.

The power kicked in, a couple of minutes later and everywhere lighted up.

"Riña, the power is on. I'll go to the CCTV room now." She heard him say from the earpiece.

"Thank you, Detective." She smiled as she walked down the hallway.

"Welcome, Zuriña Anderson."

She heard someone say behind her and her head sharply whipped round to see a sexily dressed Levi, leaning against the wall.

"Levi." She gritted her teeth.

Levi twirled her fingers around. "What do you think? It's a nice hotel, isn't it? Master gave it to be as a gift."

"Master? What nonsense...I don't know what you're talking about but thanks for saving me the time to look for him."

"This hotel is..." Levi was saying when Zuriña cut her off.

"I'll give you a choice. If you try to attack me, I'll have no choice but to kill you. Now guide me with a smile to your Master."

Levi dropped her arms to fold them. "You know Zuriña, I've seen and heard about so many powerful beings."

"I know that very well..."

A wicked smile crossed her lips. "Then, don't get hit."

"Yeah, I got it. If you don't have anything else to say..." She said as she jumped to hover on her. "Here I come."

Levi suddenly dashed into one of the rooms and a frown knitted her brow.

"Hey, where do you think you're running?" She yelled as she raced after her. To her surprise, the room was empty.

She went over to the bathroom and was surprised to find it empty.

Huh? She was not here either.

Her eyes picked a sound and she raced out of the room to another, following the sound and she was shocked to also find it empty.

What was happening? She was sure she was following the sound, but why wasn't she there?

On taking a closer look at the room, she was surprised to see it was the same room as the one she had raced into earlier.

She walked out of the room and into another and her eyes bulged in surprise on realising it was the same thing as well.

Was it her or did she kept coming back to the same room? She wondered. It wasn't possible though. No matter how many rooms the hotel had, there was no way the room were attached to the other.

She walked out to another room and realized it was the same.

It was a trap.
