Chapter He Deserves To Know.

Ethan

“So you're telling me you and Aurora are now together, that Tiffany knows about it and that she even called off the wedding herself just to help you guys?” Sam summed up my narration of what has been happening for the past few days.

“Yup” I answered with a nod. We were in my office talking because I didn't want anyone eavesdropping on our conversation. I had just finished explaining everything that he was not privy to, he was my closest aide and I trusted him not to leak it out.

“Wow, how did all this slip past me?” Sam asked in surprise.

“You were preoccupied with your mate and I didn't want to disturb you but now you know so we are done here.” I rapped my fingers on my knees before standing up from my seat, ready to leave.

“Why are you in a rush, where are you going?” With the way Sam's brows were raised, I knew he was fishing for more.

“I am going to see Aurora of course, to tell her the good news that the wedding is off.” My lips were hurting from how hard I was pursuing them to stop myself from grinning. I was severely happy that I didn't disappoint Aurora this time. At least, for once, I could give her a reason to smile.

Without waiting for any response from Sam, I turned around to leave with the thought of her reaction in my head and I was about to open the door when Sam spoke up.

“Alpha, I think you should be careful. Calling off the wedding and Aurora finding the cure doesn't mean Aurora's position as Luna is secured. This is why I tried to stop you and Aurora from starting something but now that it has already happened, you have to prepare yourself because it's not going to be easy. Aurora is not just a random person, she is Isadora, your ex mate's sister so you are quite aware of what that means, that history can put her in danger.” Sam had always been my voice of reasoning but at the moment, I didn't need any advice from him.

“I will never put her in any danger. Anyone that dares to harm so much as a hair on her head should be ready to face my wrath.” I said with my nostrils flaring in anger at the thought of someone hurting Aurora or making her cry.

“Will you be able to protect her, alpha? Excluding physical harm, she might be mocked and people might say foul things about her. Will you be able to make her Luna in grace and with everyone's approval?” Sam's questions were unnerving but I knew it was pressing issues that needed to be solved. I would never let Aurora be hurt like that, I wanted her to be accepted and be able to raise her head up high. Even as an alpha during the epidemic, people talked with disrespect of my position, I could only imagine what they would do if it was Aurora who they didn't approve of. I didn't want to subject her to that and I was going to make sure of it.

I didn't reply to Sam as I left the office, I didn't have an answer for him yet because the answer he needed was me showing him and not just telling. I will show him that I was capable of protecting my mate.

I went straight to Aurora's room, it was past working hours already so I knew she had returned. As I got closer to her door, I could hear the joyful laughter of her and Arne. They were like music to my ears, so soothing and it just felt right.

The thought of them leaving made my chest tighten, I didn't want them to leave the pack because it was theirs just as much as mine. I wanted to keep hearing the echoes of their laughter through the walls of this house and I needed to make sure of that.

I knocked on the door softly and Aurora answered that she was coming. Few seconds later, the door opened to reveal Aurora's beautiful face. She looked surprised to see me.

“Is that Uncle Ethan?” Arne asked from the back as he came to see who it was. He happily came to hug me when he saw that it was me.

“Hey buddy! How are you?” I asked as I scooped him up with a grin.

“I’m good, how are you?” he asked back with a grin matching mine. He was the most adorable child I have ever seen, the connection I felt to him was unexplainable.

“Perfect. I came with good news,” I answered while glancing at Aurora who was watching us by the side with a not so happy face, we did leave previously on a tensed note. She raised her eyebrows in a questioning manner, waiting for my next words.

“Goodnews? What is it?” Arne asked curiously.

“Hmm, a problem I had has been solved” I replied vaguely. Arne was still oblivious to me and his mother's relationship so I didn't want to get too ahead of myself. Aurora's eyes lit up at my words, she understood what I was talking about.

“What problem?” the curious ten years old pressed.

“Arne, it's bedtime, go brush your teeth and get ready for bed,” Aurora suddenly said whilst maintaining eye contact with me.

Arne whined unhappily but obeyed regardless, as soon as the bathroom door shut, I turned to her and took her hands in mine.

“Tiffany listened, she did not report to my mother and she has called off the wedding” I announced to her in an audible whisper.

Aurora released a breath of relief and her hands squeezed mine slightly, it was clear she was bothered by it but not anymore.

I raised my hand and with my fingers on her jaw, I raised her gaze to look at me. “I promise you, Aurora. I am going to make everything right. I just need you to trust me” I said in a genuine tone.

Aurora grew a little teary and she nodded. I pulled her in for a hug and we stayed like that for a minute or two.

I heard water rushing from the bathroom stop and I pulled away, Arne was going to come out soon.

Speaking of Arne, “When are we going to tell him about us? He deserves to know” I said with a little nod towards the bathroom so she knows who I was talking about.

“Yes, he does deserve to know. Soon.” she answered with a deep sigh.
