Chapter Repented

Adeline invited Bella and Denise over for a chat to talk about themselves and everything else over a cup of tea.

“Honestly I really do envy you girls, you got your mate at such a tender age and you are living with them till now. I never had that, before I could meet my mate, he was already dead. It caused me to make decisions that I should never have made which makes me regret it now” She narrated.

“You are not too old to find your mate, someday you might find one” Denise reacted and they smiled.

“I don’t believe in second chances and I think I am too old for that” she commented.

“Tell me Denise, what is your mate like?” she asked.

“Well he is quite sensitive to a lot of things, the kind I would go to for advice. Sometimes he acts cute and clingy but when he is mad, you get scared of him” Denise answered saying a few things about her dear mate. The months she spent with him were enough to know what type of guy he was.

“How about you Bella, how is Coast?” She asked.

“He is cold to everyone except those he considers his family and very possessive” Bella replied. She didn’t want to say much Coast because it felt like she was giving her a green card into knowing what type of guy Coast was and how to please him.

“I think I may have contributed to that” Adeline stated sulking in front of them.

“How about your son, what was he like?” Bella asked despite the topic being sensitive to Adeline since she claimed her son was dead. Most people wouldn’t want to talk about their dead loved ones.

“Well my son was an easy going person, he made everyone around him feel comfortable. I really do miss him” Adeline answered faking tears to make it look convincing that she really cared about her son who apparently was alive.

“My apologies for asking” Bella backed down, she was about to ask how he died but seeing that she was crying, she sealed her lips and held back her question.

Denise on the other hand didn’t back down and asked the question anyways.

“How did he die?” She asked.

Adeline was surprised that she could ask such question even after she had just showed a blast of emotions to them. She began to think of what to say.

“Well, he died during a rogue attack, he and his friends” She answered being the best answer she had.

“So sorry to hear that” Denise uttered.

“It’s alright, I have learnt to leave with the truth that he would never come back. I have moved on with my life and decided to right my wrongs. I guess his death was a punishment for me to realize all the wrong things that I had done” She emphasized as they listened to her.

After a little chat, They all retreated to their various rooms, Adeline could feel someone was following her. She looked back and saw no one but she was damn sure that she was being monitored.

“So they still don’t trust me yet” she said closing the door to her room. She could easily bet that whoever was monitoring her was sent by Coast. He was the only one she knew who hadn’t bought her act, every other person was slowly believing the things she said and the acts she pulled in front of them.

“I will try one more time and this time, you all will have no choice than to trust me” she commented with a devious smile on her face.

Bella didn’t return to her room but rather she went ahead to meet Coast in his office.

“Did you finally remember that you have a mate” Coast asked sulking as he saw her. Bella had spent all a day with Denise and he felt jealous about it. He wanted to be in her company but instead she choosed to be with Denise over him before she had only him and would come to him immediately she was bored.

“Come on, I just had a little bonding time with Denise and Adeline joined in and it became a much longer conversation” She said sitting on his laps while he wrapped his arms around her waist.

“What did you guys talk about?” He seemed interested in what could have gotten them to chat till the evening.

“Well we talked about our mates and other things” she relayed.

“That must have been a lengthy conversation” he stated.

  “Coast”

  “Hmm”

“Do you think Adeline has really changed?” She asked. After studying Adeline for a while now, Bella was feeling convinced that she must have really changed and that she deserved Coast’s forgiveness.

“I don’t think so” he answered, Coast never believed he was going to open up his heart to Adeline so he still couldn’t trust her. He felt in his guts that Adeline would never change, after the things she had done in the past, it was hard for a person like her to actually change.

“Well I think she has repented” Bella said thinking about the things Adeline said earlier about amending her ways and it felt real to her.

“What makes you think so?” He inquired wondering what Adeline must have done to make Bella believe her.

“She talked about her son today and she looked so broken, I believe she must have felt really hurt by her son’s passing that she wanted to make amends for her sins.

But this is just my assumptions and I am not forcing you into trusting her, it is up to you and you can only forgive her when you really want to and not because I think she has changed.

I think you are a better person at finding out those who are righteous and those who are evil like how you were able to tell from Almano despite him being nice to me all the time. You knew he had bad intentions right from the start” she stated recalling that Coast was not keen with Almano from the start and he hated him. The same Almano, Bella thought was a good person turned out to be bad and Coast was the only one who could see through him.

“By the way how is the search for him going” she asked.

“No news yet but I won’t stop until I have found him” he replied to make sure Almano paid for the things he did.

  “Okay”

“As for Adeline, I have Lucian spying on her, until I am certain that she is genuine only then can I think of forgiving her. I cannot just believe the words that comes out of her mouth, I need real proof that she has actually repented and until I see that proof, I will not be able to forgive her until the day she takes her last breath of which I must be the one to take it anyways if she turns out to be alive.

I will kill her myself” He muttered.

“As you wish” she replied, she wasn’t going for force him because she knew Coast could make his own decisions. She rested her head on his shoulders closing her eyes to sleep on him. It felt more comfortable with him than being alone in the room. Once Coast was done with work for the day, he carried her in his arms to the room where they slept together.
