“Search every inch of his castle” Adeline ordered the guards and the search began to find whoever must have poisoned the Alpha. Since it was a serious case, everyone obliged to it as they let the men do their work.
Lucian had an urgent meeting outside the pack so he wasn’t around.
Every single room was checked including his room,
“Found something” one of the men said bringing a bottle to her that he had taken from a purse.
“That’s not possible” Denise exclaimed when she saw the bottle containing a green shining substance.
“Whose purse is this?” Adeline turned to Denise to answer since she and Lucian share the same room.
“It’s mine” she answered.
“Then how do you explain this?” Adeline asked her.
“Thats not mine” she stated as Adeline looked questionably at her.
“What do you mean it’s not yours, whose is it then?” Adeline asked.
“I don’t know, I don’t know how that got there but it is not mine” she defended. The look on Adeline’s face could tell that she did not believe her at all.
“If it isn’t yours then how did it end up in your purse” Adeline asked again.
Denise was dumbstruck on what to answer, she had no idea how that got to her purse, she had used that purse yesterday so she knew everything that was in it and that bottle was most certainly not in it.
“Someone must have put it, someone is trying to frame me” She answered being the only explanation she had.
“Who is this person then?” Adeline asked her again and she was too shocked to speak. There was enough evidence to prove that the bottle was hers because it was found in her purse, Denise knew it would be hard to defend herself since the Alpha was the one who was poisoned. To top it all off, she had no idea who put the bottle in her purse so that she could exonerate herself.
“Can’t you answer me Denise” Adeline asked again.
“I swear to you that that is not mine” Denise stated.
“Then whose is it?” She was asked back.
“I said I don’t know” Denise yelled so hard in frustration of being questioned several times over something she had no idea of.
Adeline took a deep breath and nodded her head, “Denise you leave me no choose. You have been charged with treason for poisoning the Alpha” She said.
Denise could not believe her ears, how could she be charged for poisoning the Alpha, she would never do such a thing neither did she have a reason too.
“Take her to the dungeon” Adeline ordered the men.
“Stop” Denise yelled, being the mate of the Gamma she had a little power.
“Adeline, you know I would never do such a thing” she tried to appeal to her not knowing she was making the wrong decision.
‘I know you wouldn’t but you have to take the fall for me’ Adeline said to herself.
“I barely know you Denise, I don’t know if you are doing this so that your mate can become the Alpha. I don’t even want to think of it but there is enough evidence that points to you. I am just a mother protecting and fighting for her son, I cannot let this slide unless I would look like a bad mother” she answered instead.
“What are you saying, I would never do such a thing, I wouldn’t dare to poison the Alpha” Denise defended.
“Then whatever may have been your motive just know that you messed with the wrong person” She answered harshly. Adeline could see how shattered and confused Denise was and she knew she had chosen the best prey. At first she had wanted to plant the evidence in Bella’s things which would make it feel like killing two birds with one stone but she didn’t know how loyal the guards were to the Luna in the absence of the Alpha. As for Denise, she was just the mate of the Gamma so it would be easy to subdue her.
“I said I didn’t do it. What is wrong with you Adeline, can’t you hear me. I have no reason to poison the Alpha, hear me out” she pleaded but Adeline refused to listen to her.
“Take her”
“I want to speak with the Luna” Denise immediately said, if Adeline wasn’t going to believe her then Bella would. Bella knew the type of person she was and that she wouldn’t have the guts to poison her mate.
Once Adeline heard that Denise wanted to speak with Bella, she knew her plans might get ruined because Bella would definitely believe and take her side.
“The Luna is busy taking care of the Alpha who you poisoned, I cannot allow you to bother her when she is already broken and hurt. The least you can do is give us the antidote and you would be set free” Adeline bargained even when she knew that Denise didn’t have the antidote at all.
“What antidote are you talking about, I didn’t poison the Alpha” Denise defended.
“Take her away, when you are ready to give us the antidote then we can talk” she ordered and Devise was taken away.
“I didn’t poison the Alpha” she kept screaming.
“We have another prey to catch”
Adeline muttered to herself as she smiled.

Three hours later Lucian came back and was met with the news that Devise was locked up and Adeline was in charge of that.
“How dare you lock up my mate?” He barged into her room without notice.
Adeline was startled by the intrusion but she composed herself.
“I would never have done that if she hadn’t poisoned the Alpha” she replied.
“I know my mate, I know she would never do such a thing” he defended Denise in the best way possible.
“Ofcourse you would say that when she is your mate but how do you explain the evidence we have. We found this in her purse” She presented the poison to him.
“This is all a set up, my mate would never poison the Alpha” he barked rudely at her.
“You can say all that you want but I am not letting your mate out until she provides the antidote. Bella is quite busy with her mate and she has put me in charge, if you have a problem with what is happening then you can confront but let me remind you that Bella is in a critical state now” Adeline warned. She was trying to obstruct Lucian from visiting Bella to release his mate.
“Fine, I will meet her and talk to her” Lucian said and slammed the door on his way out.
